Report: Eagles interested in Brett Favre

Howard Eskin of WIP radio in Philly reports that the Eagles could quarterback Brett Favre as a backup to Mike Vick, after Kevin Kolb is shipped out of town.

Sources told Eskin, who serves as a sideline reporter for the team’s radio broadcasts, that it’s “possible” the Eagles will sign Favre.

I hope it happens....it's not my team and it would make for some outlandish story lines.

That said, I don't see it happening....but never say never with Brett Favre.

Is he a FA? Did his contract with the Vikings run out?

Brett Farve + Vick?

Goodness, that's about the worst set of NFL storylines I can think of. Bleh.

**** that. i love that Favre does what he loves. on a historical level, he should have quit when he left the Packers, but honestly how can you fault a guy for not wanting to quit doing what he loves, especially when there are still teams pursuing him and offering him millions?

Elway could have played into his 40s and not one person on this site would have said a negative thing about that.

True.

This is not a Favre fan site.

I think some people would have a few things negative to say about Elway if he left the Broncos the way Favre left the Packers.

Big difference. Elway wasn't an ego maniac. When he retired, he retired and didn't make an ass of himself. If he had continued, it would have been because he could perform at the same level. I know, I know, Favre had a tremendous year in 2009 and of course it had nothing to do with the team surrounding him, it was all him. Hell, he should have retired 5 years ago.

Nope.

Well I don't know because if he'd jumped one team to go to say the Patriots and then jumped back into the AFC West say on the Raiders, I think there would've been some backlash.

Or if he had kept jerking us around every year as to whether he was coming back or not.

Unlikely to happen but Eskin has always been a very good source on Eagles news so wouldn't totally dismiss the report.

ROFL! That would surely tighten up Tebow's mechanics. BF could teach him some picture-phons skills skills while he's at it.

As much as I hate Brett Farve (yes I spelled it wrong) ... Not much makes me laugh as hard in football as watching him fail on and off the field and at least if he does come back I have loads of Farve material ...

how did he leave the pack that was so awful? they had a replacement they wanted to get on the field. it isn't like he just up and said **** off i want to play for the Jets or Minnesotta. they wanted him to move on, and he did. and once that was over he was free to do what he wanted. good for him he did what he loves.

Elway retired on top. that is what Favre was trying to do. had Minnesotta won the super bowl in 2009, there is no way in hell he would have come back last season.

whether or not he should have retired and stayed retired is a moot point. you can't fault a guy for doing what he loves, especially when teams are still willing to back up a dump truck full of cash on him.

Actually the love of the game I admire about him. What bugs me is the media whore he is and that makes me sick get tired of no news but, favre on NFLN and ESPN. I laugh my butt off when he fails doing the Yankee and Lebron way.

agreed. he could have handled his "retirement comebacks" better. but even with that he was too good of a player, and really fun to watch so i can't hate on the guy. i respect him and his ability. even last season which was terrible, he was still better than probably half the other starting QBs in the league.

BTW
