Dear Chris Kluwe: When We Want The Punter’s Opinion, We’ll Ask For It (We Won’t)
Nate Jackson —Chris Kluwe should know better.

Earlier this week, Kluwe, the Minnesota Vikings punter, called Peyton Manning and Drew Brees greedy douchebags on his Twitter feed — validating, from a source who wears an NFL uniform, the media's assertion that the lockout is all about greedy players. But by relying on gossipy football media outlets for facts about CBA negotiations, then taking to Twitter to blast some of the league's most respected names, Chris Kluwe made a mistake that ensures he'll be respected even less than he already is, if that's possible.
Punters are at the absolute bottom of the totem pole on an NFL roster, the very last man. If the team plane crashed on a deserted island, he'd be dinner as soon as the food ran out. Most of them know this and understand that it's in their best interest to keep quiet...

Okaaaay. Granted, it's pretty much always appropriate to make fun of the punter, but really. . . who's Nasty Nate to talk? The guy that covers punts and kicks isn't exactly higher on the totem than the dude that kicks 'em. At least the punter is technically a starter. Oh yea, and Kluwe still has a job in the NFL. Without bothering to look it up, I can guarantee he's making half a million or more this year. Kinda doubt Nasty Nate brings in that kind of scratch for his blogs and articles.

Sorry Nate, the lowest guy on the NFL totem pole isn't the punter. Its the guy who never steps on the field come Sunday.

But what with how long its been since you were in the league I can see why you'd have forgotten that.

nate is very, very bitter. what a totally pathetic work by him. beyond unreal how skewed these guys perceptions are.

nate jackson:
if you have leverage against the league (they dont) then you should use it, **** the fans and the rest of the NFL players waiting to get the year started! this is about the 1 or 2 guys who have sacrificed approximately 2 full hours of their time on the CBA negotiations and lawsuits. they DESERVE this. and starting punters are the butt of many jokes, because one happened to say what most of america was thinking, yea!

Dear Nate,

Remember the glory days of your life... spent covering punts between IR stints? Those were the days.

Your pal,

CK

Perhaps on a visceral level. But then to write it down, edit it, write it again, and publish it?

Thats just an a-hole

True.

I'm too lazy to read his article, but quite frankly the OP runs contrary to the sarcasm dripping from his twitter comment.

I guess I'm in a "Who cares?" mode.

Best part of that was this...

You, more than anyone else, should know what goes on during special teams, and yet your description of a special teams practice, while venomously hilarious, is quite inaccurate (or maybe you guys had a really crappy punter and you're spot on, in which case, my condolences)

Yeah we did have crappy punters lol

You are on to something but it happens here at the Mane. While the kickers are considered the bottom of the totem pole, I see them around in the NFL much longer than many ST guys that are 4th string WR or Linebackers. Those guys are rarely noticed and missed but if you have a Reggie Roby (RIP) or Ray GUy on your team, that is a huge advantage. They always say the game is 33% Offense, 33% defense and 33% special teams so while the position looks more like a soccer one than football, it is important as hell on the football field. He wants to voice his opinion, let him do so as he gets the same vote as Brees and Manning. That is the one thing Kluwe has and Nate Jackson does not and that is a vote.

Just read the Klowe response to Jackson. Last part is classic....

So, Nate Jackson, while I respect your right to free speech (as apparently you don't respect mine), I also respect my right to tell you to go jam a tackling dummy up your ass sideways for being a snake-tongued, ****-talking Internet tough guy asshole who is so far out of touch with reality that you have no idea just how privileged we are to play this game for ridiculous amounts of money.

You're not the only one who can craft a sentence, my friend.

Sincerely,
Chris Kluwe
Punter

P.S. I respect all four of the people I called douchebags (Manning, Brees, Mankins, and Jackson). That's why I used the word "douchebag" instead of "asshole" or "****wit." Someone acting like a douchebag can still be redeemed; generally it's a momentary lapse of judgment. There's no hope for asshole ****wits.

P.P.S. tl;dr — U mad bro? Hilarious!

Do you really think Indianapolis is going to throw Manning out there on special teams to go attack the punter? Assuming Manning even plays for them anymore.

Cluwe just verbally beat the **** out of Jackson. that was on par with Tyson in his prime knocking dudes out in the first round, there is no way to come back with a rebuttal of Jackson's own without sounding weak and pathetic.

another thing i liked. Cluwe talked about how it is the fans getting ****ed over and that he and the other 1900 in the NFL are lucky to get to play this game for exorbitant amounts of money.

Hey now as much as i despised the K/P when playing football, id kill/screw to be in NFL. It's a free country so tweet away, just dont send pic's of your junk and you'll be fine.
