If I'm being honest I don't love the trailer (though it shows more than most teasers) but I know it will be a good movie regardless.

Quite frankly I thought the majority of the fake trailers that were circulating within the past few weeks were better than this.

journey, hero, legend, legendary, and epic within the space of 1 minute. yeah it's safe to say that was an awful teaser.

It's a good teaser, it's not supposed to show you everything.

Wonder how Gordon ended up in the hospital bed? Bain looks the part in that snap shot. I am just glad there won't be any Rachel love interest side stories in this conclusion to the Nolan series.

Chris
07-18-2011, 04:25 PM
The weird thing about Bain is the actor that plays him (Tom Hardy the English guy from "Inception" and "Bronson") is about 5'7" while Bane is supposed to be huge. Could be a lot of camera trickery.

I liked it, not because of any artistic value, but that it accomplishes what an early promo at this point in the marketing game should do: build up tension and anticipation. Your tension can't help but rise watching that scene, even if you don't understand everything he's saying. That tension rolls directly into the branding graphic (the city scape with the batman logo outline), and then concludes with a silhouette profile of the "bad guy," leaving discussion open for who that badguy might be.

Brilliantly done from a marketing standpoint. Artistically, it's hard for me to speak to. The art, to me, is in the effect it generates more than the visuals themselves. But I think it's an effective commercial. I know I can't wait to see it.

I am very curious how they pull this off. In my opinion, treatment of the villians is always the toughest part of Superhero movies. The suspension of disbelief is put to serious stress where super villains are concerned, and once it is broken, the movie itself is broken. The previous Batman incarnation in the 90's provide great examples of this with their treatments of The Riddler, The Penguin, Catwoman, and Mr. Freeze. The last Superman movie's treatment of Lex Luthor was horrible, with due respect to Mr. Spacey, whom I respect a great deal - but his Lex Luthor was unbelievable and flat.

I can't wait to see how the villains are handled in this movie. Considering that Nolan completely changed the paradigm for how super villains were handled in movies, I've got some confidence that everything will be alright...

Batman has been my favorite since ever. God this is gonna RIP.

Actually, Batman RIP was Morrison's epic story of how Batman beat the devil by creating a back up personality as a counter measure against having his mind wiped by the catch-phrase Zurr en Arhh, before getting zapped by the the God of evil and turning into a Kurt Vonnegut protagonist bouncing around time.

Why yes, Grant Morrison has done drugs, why do you ask?

Yup.

Trailer for Dark Knight was the best I'd ever seen. Hell, even before the DK teaser when they leaked the poster and pics of the Joker's face everyone was going nuts for it.

Not this time :/ I'm expecting this one to be on par with Batman Begins.

We're talking teaser trailers, which this is. The TDK teaser trailer showed less than this.

The main trailers were indeed awesome as I am sure this movie's official, full length trailer will be awesome when it's released.

While I fully expect this to be a great movie, I just can't see it surpassing TDK, Ledger's performance just put that movie on a whole different level.

If they knew this was going to be a trilogy, I'm suprised they didn't make the Joker the focus of the final installment.

Chris

I heard they were going to make the joker a central figure in the third one (hence it being left open in the 2nd)... but how can you replace Heath Ledger...

It's possible that Batman gets his back broken in this movie, I think Bane will be one of the more popular villains after this movie is made. This movie will likely be the darkest Batman movie made since Batman has to deal with League of Shadows, Bane, the nutjobs on the loose from Arkam Asylum.

I liked the Burton Bat films, not the Schumacher films which were waaaay too campy to appease the Families that freaked over Batman Returns.

As for Spiderman reboot, judging on that trailer it just looks like rehashed story, and a new actor to play spiderman, jury is out on the CGI since the quality of the teaser is poor. I love Sony the company, but I think they clearly ****ed up the Spiderman franchise.

Shenanigans.

No more ugly-ing up Mary Jane (yes, I know MJ isn't in the movie and that's Gwen Stacy). No more emo Tobey. No more Topher Grace as Venom. No more Lowell from Wings playing Sandman. No more wrong storyline. Etc.

i hope they get the character of Spider-Man right this time. the last 3 movies didn't show any of him being a complete sarcastic smart ass when he was going against his villain. that is something that was always there in the comics and was absent in the movies. and thank God no more Raimi to pick incredibly ugly actresses to play insanely hot characters.

Well if this movie follows the actual Batman storyline, Bane should completely **** Batman up

However, as has been mentioned, I think Heath Ledger's death kind of threw a wrinkle in Nolan's plan as far as the series would go

I thought I read Joker was supposed to be the villian in the third movie as well

Conan is coming out in a month, TDKR is coming out next year and they are still shooting scenes for the movie. That's why we got a small teaser for TDKR.
