Somehow I do not find Toy Story the least bit humorous or interesting.

I know it's got a great following and people love it.

Since my son was born 3 years ago I have tried to endure the TS movies and I find them almost unwatchable.

As someone who grew up with many of those toys, I get the humor. I just don't think it's at all funny.

To me, it doesn't compare to the first Shrek or the Cars movie.

Sorry.

The original Star Wars trilogy is head and shoulders above any other trilogy IMO. I won't even mark them down for the Ewoks. I was absolutely blown away by that movie when it came out.

And I know most don't like it, but I thought Alien 3 was extremely underrated as a movie. If they had just stopped there, I'd probably go with that trilogy in second place.

I would Rather watch any 3 Rocky movies (minus 5 which never happened), any 3 Harry Potters, any 3 Star Wars, any 3 Supermans (minus the suck that was 4: the quest for peace), any 3 Shreks, any 3 Austin Powers, and 3 Bond flicks, I could go on but you get the point so go **** yourself and have a nice day!

Taco John

how so?

I would rate the Revenge of the Sith novel as quality modern literature. It really digs deep into character motivations, the conflicts that exist between all of the characters, the mental and emotional struggle that Anakin is experiencing, the background and motivations of Palpatine, etc. And one it picks up steam, it's a hard book to put down, even if you know what the end results are from watching the movie. The book eliminates all the odd dialogue from the movie and replaces it with genuine dialogue, and gives you some valuable back story that you might not otherwise realize (like for instance, how Palpatine managed to get his lightsaber into his Republic office without it being detected).

It's a great book. It really "fixed" everything for me.

#1 LOTR - Really, its only drawback is that they decided to condense an epic adventure into 3 movies when 6 would have been better.
#2 Original Star Wars - Ewoks ruin it for a lot of people but not me. Would have been better on the Wookie homeworld where it was supposed to be but the Ewoks were provided for children and when it came out I was a child so I loved it. Empire is one of the greatest movies ever made IMO.
#3 Indiana Jones (not that last POS) - Possibly one of the coolest characters of all time and definitely one of my favorite actors ever.

Nothing else is in the caliber of these 3 trilogies IMO.

Evil Dead for me, but I also enjoyed at least a few of the Mad Max, maybe even all three not sure. And The Bourne films were pretty good (Bourne: Idenity, Supremacy, Ultimatum). Godfather is a great trilogy even though part III is painful. I like Toy Story, but not sure if best of all time.

well, but honestly the 2nd one sucked too. If the future Mrs. Spielberg had screamed anymore I would've tossed her down a hole. Her character in that movie is mindnumbingly annoying. Temple of Doom was a poor follow up to Raiders. Granted the crystal skull is worse, but they both weaken the franchise.

NUB
07-15-2011, 03:49 PM
I think Temple of Doom is far better than it gets credit for. The lady role is weak, especially considering she's played out like a bimbo while the woman in the first movie was strong and independent, but it was a good flick. Too many people focus on the chick's non-stop whining.

Be fair, she is in it alot and she does make it difficult to watch whenever she is on screen. I have the series up through 3, so maybe when I can deal with it I will go reevaluate. I admit I am biased for Karen Allen and when she showed up in the final Indy I was happy to see her, even if the movie was daft.

NUB
07-15-2011, 03:59 PM
Oh yeah she is total crap in the movie, no doubt. I can see how if her whining dug in deep it would be hard to like the movie. I watched Temple of Doom a lot as a kid and the whining never did anything to me. I was more focused on all the badass action scenes and crazy locations. Still like that today, I suppose. Seeing Allen again in the 4th movie was its only redeeming value.

I finally watched Batman a month or two ago after the recommendation of... well, everyone, and they were pretty good.

Is Indiana Jones a movie that can still be enjoyed? Seems like the kind of movie I'd like.

LOTR and Star Wars... I watched about 20 minutes of each before I fell asleep. Godfather and Die Hard I don't think I've ever seen any of. Toy Story... I think I saw most of the first one. Aliens, Tremors, all that crazy stuff.. I got nothing.

Maybe the Ernest movies? Goes to camp, scared stupid.. I'm sure there was a 3rd one.

1. Were you too scared to actually type "fag"?
2. After using a word with the strength of "fag", did you think calling me "jerk" would have any significance at all?
3. Are you a fan of the Broncos again?

What Toy Story 2 maybe the best one

It was forgettable IMO.

Toy Story trilogy is great, especially if you're a kid.

Greatest ever? Hahahahahaha

Every X-Men movie but the first one sucked ass. The first was a passable summer blockbuster.

well, but honestly the 2nd one sucked too. If the future Mrs. Spielberg had screamed anymore I would've tossed her down a hole. Her character in that movie is mindnumbingly annoying. Temple of Doom was a poor follow up to Raiders. Granted the crystal skull is worse, but they both weaken the franchise.

Better stories in the first and third movies. You can't go wrong with Sean Connery. The fourth flick does not quite fit the template of the first three; namely the search for a religious relic. (The Ark, the Shiva stone or the Holy Grail vs an alien skull...). I think the fourth one was made to spin off a new series of the "son of Indiana Jones" and they needed to introduce the kid into the story line.

And I agree about Cate Capshaw...her character was not funny, not endearing and you want her to get dunked in lava...Saving grace was short round, who is nothing more than an asian stereotype...but he had more depth then capshaw's character...

I don't even remember her in the movie. However, I totally have the hots for her and so will award a point regardless. Only things I remember about the 4th movie were some ants, a jungle, an awful ending, and a nuclear-proof refrigerator.

There is an easter egg in Fallout New Vegas. If you are off the Hwy and do some poking around in a canyon you find a fridge with a skeleton inside it wearing a fedora.

I thought that was kind of funny.

So I just did a Netflix search and there's like 5 Indiana Jones'. Which ones do I go for?

1. Raiders of the Lost Ark.
2. Temple of Doom.
3. The Last Crusade
4. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Favorite trilogy...

I'm not a fan of Toy Story. I dont have kids of my own to go see it, I have no desire to see it, and any kids I do know didnt like it beyond seeing it once in a theater.

In no particular order...

Alien, Aliens, Alien 3 (Yes...there are 2 others...but they dont count)
Indiana Jones (1-3)
Lord of the Rings

Trilogies I hate:

The Matrix...(all that bull**** new age spiritualism and philosophies and talk of human freedom to end in a tie...**** that.)

Godfather. My dad and brothers love mafia based flicks. As a result, we see alot of mafia flicks. Im burned out on them, so while I dont quite hate the Godfather films, I dont really want to see them.

Batman 2-4 (Burton and Shumacher). I love the original Batman with Nicholson. After that...Batman is a very complex, deep character without ever putting on a batsuit. Hammy jokes and stupid creepiness and nipples on the batsuit and giant codpieces...enough man. I love men, but give me a break. i dont go to a batman flick to see batman's body in relief in black rubber. Or the Riddler in a unitard.

There's only one other Alien movie. If you're counting the Alien vs Predator movies, there are two more of just those in addition to the 4 Alien movies.

"Don't Bend Over for the Soap" parts 1, 11, & 111. Truly riveting stuff coming out of San Fernando Valley these days. If there ever was must-see in the pen, this is it.

Though I thought part 2 was a bit weaker than the 1st and last, I still think the entire trilogy stands on its own as a true American prison classic.

Im more curious as to the inclusion of the word Penetentiary, which isnt even a real word. Peniteniary is a prison, but Im at a loss for how Penetentiary Trilogy means the first three movies. Obviously a trilogy is three, but, I mean, where the **** did you come up with penetentiary?
