View Full Version : Just for fun: If Tebow flamed out at QB, what would be the best position to move him to?

What if Tebow REALLY can't play qb? Like 16 games started, 2800 yards, 51% pass completion, 12 tds, 19ints bad? And he repeats that for a couple of seasons.

What position would you move him to in order to give him the best chance to succeed? Hypothetically speaking, of course.

would depend on what team got him,I doubt he'd stay in denver. If we're drafting in the top 5 next yr then tebust won't get but 1 season. especially with luck comming out in that draft.

The thought crosses my mind as well. I know Boston was a roid head but still he out grew his position. The dude couldn't even clap let alone catch a football because he was too big. Clearly Tebow doesn't do drugs but the problem is there with him getting too big.

Bkup QB will be his best spot if he fails as a starter. Maybe in creative packages where he runs about 75% of the time. I don't see him being anywhere near what it would take to play another position other then something like FB or HB.

I understand the impulse to put football related material on a football related message board...but this is just shenanigans.

Tebow flame out...dude. WTF?

My left eye a little weaker i think. So I would eat the right, it's probably tastier.

I would ask the clown for his opinion, then ask him for a demonstration on himself. Clearly, being a maniac he would comply. Then when he is trying to do that, I nimbly get away.

Win.

My left eye has astigmatism, and from what my wife tells me, its tears are tastier. Logic dictates it would be missed the least and taste the best.

Yeah ... a latter-day, more athletic BVP.

Or we can just wait to see what the Titans do with Locker and give that a try.

He'd be a RB/HB/goalline QB/3rd&1 specialist/TD machine just like he was before he took over for Orton last year. But the point is moot, he outplayed Orton. By far. People in the future will talk of how different the QB position is than the old days and that will all be because of Tim Tebow.

Fullback like Alstott -- a touchdown machine around the goal line, and a first down machine.

He has a very natural ability to shake and bake one time, choose his cut wisely, and power his shoulders throw a small hole.

For TE or HB, I don't think he's got enough wide open gear down the field -- his legs don't move like a gazelles, they churn like a squirrel's legs.

I think he could play QB... but if he moved, I think Tebow could be quite effective as a TE.

Edit - or linebacker or FB... he doesn't have the top speed to play Safety (plus he's rather large for even an SS).

I understand the enthusiasm for Tebow, and I think he can be good... I undertand that his intensity and intangibles play into it... but I'm tired of everyone saying he "outperformed Orton by far." He might have been a better situation player and more creative/efficient, but statistically speaking Orton played better than Tebow last year.

Maybe on first and second down after that Orton was terrible. 16 sacks, 5 Int's, QB rating of 58 (down from 96 on 1st and 2nd). Comp % dropped 12 points as well.

Dr. Broncenstein

Orton is decent as long as he has protection, it's not 3rd / 4th down, and the LOS resides outside of the red zone.

Orton shat the bed too many times (as others mentioned - RZ, 3rd/4th), those same areas that Tebow shined. Orton's a garbage time QB, hey, the game is out of hand and they're playing prevent? Give me Orton! Chuck it deep to Lloyd! I discount Orton's artificially inflated stats because of garbage time.

Even if Timmy proves to be a shaky QB, he's already proved he's the ultimate red zone weapon (even if doing that with a QB is unconventional). For YEARS YEARS YEARS, the red zone offense has been an issue. Always a sore spot with the broncos due to our small line, zone scheme, whatever the case. The SECOND McD unleashed the Tebow goal line offense (inside the 10), those problems completely disappeared! COMPLETELY. The guy has a knack for picking spots and finding the endzone, and can obviously find ways to pass it in there too. Now, the question remains about his ability to drive down the field, but around the goalline? He's money.

Been saying this from the start. It is impossible to defend the run/pass option he presents near the goal-line. If the only thing he ever does for this team is become a short-yardage / red zone specialist, he's worth the pick. He'll be much more than that IMO, but he's the closest thing to a sure touchdown near the goal-line as you can find.

agree with Doc and Son Of..

Even if TT doesn't turn out to be a "franchise" QB, he can be "Slash" -

We can use him the way Pitt used Kordell, and he can get us 12+ more red zone TD's than we've been accustomed to over the last decade.

LMFAO@ The Sober John Riggins ROFL!

I think he'll fill that roll even from the QB position, but look even more dynamic while doing it. I believe there's a 50/50 chance that he's unbreakable. If he is he'll be on the cover of Madden and follow it with his best season ever.
