Anyone got these? Any recommendations for a video camera at a similar price range? I'm going on holiday soon and want to be able to shoot what we're doing in a somewhat artful way.

Not great as a regular camera. You want to use them for sport shots. They are rugged, and hd now..but i wouldnt get them as a primary camera.

ive used them for shooting video on seadoos, motocross bikes, and other things that would kill a normal camera, only problem ive found has been indoors, they are a little fussy if you have less than ideal light.

this is going to sound really lame, but I honestly don't know. The cameras that I'm in the market for are for professional uses and I am not a good resource for home video cams.

did that sound condescending?

Not at all. My brothers in film so I should probably just ask him. I'll probably end up selling my SLR to get a camera that is video capable (i know the 5D looks good for some things).

I bought one of these four years ago to take when I go bodyboarding.

I've taken some pretty cool shots with it, I once went to the Wedge on a big day and took some good ones.

They work good for the pool too.

I have one for surfing. They are 'okay', I wanted to try the Contour, but didn't feel like spending the money.
