I took my kids to the library the other day and my 3 year old yelled out "DADDY LOOK AT THE ROCKET BOOK!". I limped over there and found the picture book "Moonshot: the story of Apollo 11" by Brian Floca and we checked it out.

It is a great book, I am going to purchase our own copy. It is very detailed yet engrossing for the little ones and the pictures are beautiful just on their own as a kids book.

Here is the authors website for the book which has activity's for the kids: http://brianfloca.com/Moonshot.html

Here is a link to a blog that I found: http://www.majordojo.com/2009/06/moonshot.php

Here is the Amazon page: http://www.amazon.com/Moonshot-Richard-Jackson-Atheneum-Hardcover/dp/141695046X

Not only is this a good book for the kids but it is a relatively accurate representation of Apollo 11 and what the moon missions were like and would be a great read for adults who might not want to read the EPIC books like "Failure is not an Option", "Carrying the Fire" or "Apollo 13".

The only flaw was the author didn't focus on Gene enough but he did explain the go/no go term and how the flight was supported by both the Cape and Houston teams for launch and flight control.

This is a solid book that will enthrall kids for hours and would be a great gift for your own kids or if you need to buy a gift for a friends kids or niece/nephew/grandkids etc...

Check it out!

Here's a great app for the Ipad, your kids or grandkids will love this. You point it at the sky at night and it shows you in detail what you are seeing in real time.

I was going to pop for a small telescope, they have the ones where you can say you want to see Jupiter and it will set it up for you but I want the kids to get a couple years older.
