I have a little more respect for him today. Just a little, but nice.

That's pretty awesome. I've never heard of an owner paying for the championship parade for the team he owns.

I've enjoyed watching Cuban keep his mouth shut through the entirety of the playoffs, and think the lack of distractions from the owner was probably at least PART of the championship puzzle for the Mavs.

I met Cuban a couple of times when I was in Dallas at various events.. he was always gracious.

I think he gets a bad rap really.. he's a huge fan who is lucky enough to own his own team. I get why people might not like him, but he's always appeared to be a pretty stand-up guy to me. Particularly in his business dealings.

Although I did enjoy the Pepsi Center crowd absolutely killing him during the playoffs a couple of years ago:)

He's the only reason I was glad the Mav's (any Dallas team) won. He's the ultimate fan. I've always looked at him as someone who is having one hell of a good time and not afraid to say what he feels. Not surprised he did the right thing.

I'm cool with him. If any of us could afford it and the Broncos were up for sale, we'd buy it. That may... or may not be a good thing. ;D

He is a polarizing figure, but what a great owner if you are a fan or a player. He puts his all into the Mavs and it has paid off for years, this is just the big time payoff.

If I was a player, I would want to play for him.

Yeah, I'm certainly pro-Cuban. I think he's great.

Lakers paid for their parade last year, I think they paid like 2 million dollars.

Only after the state said they didn't have the money to do it. It was either that or the Lakers didn't get a parade. Just sayin

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

That's all I'm saying. :)

Regardless, they paid up.

I've not been a fan of Mark Cuban until this. Peter King pointed out that Cuban has been really careful not to grab the limelight, and even had the founder of the franchise, rather then the Owner (him) accept the award.

That's classy.

Yeah I hate Mark Cuban. Barking at KMart's mom was the most recent event that led me to wish his face get smashed in. However this is a positive thing.

You should hope Cuban buys the Dodgers. I always thought he was nuts but when the referee scandal came out, I believe it vindicated him when he would question some of those calls on the floor. He has passion and glad to see that in an owner that also wins.

250K are expected out there.

For those who didn't know, Cuban was a Mavs fan and season ticket holder before he owned the team. He sits in the same seat that he had when he was just a fan.

If you haven't met him, you would probably be surprised at how normal and easy to chat with he is. I have never had a problem chit chatting with him. He will even talk basketball with you. He's pretty passionate about it (obviously).

As for the players...Cuban has them surrounded by luxury. Everyone will want to play for the Mavs this offseason.

I wouldn't mind if he did buy the Dodgers, but its such a cluster**** right now that I don't know if anyone would touch it at this point. He's doing great with the Mavericks, and I don't know if he wants to spend time on a rebuilding project with the Dodgers.

Yep, I was impressed by that!
You get the franchise's previous owner up there with his wife to accept the championship trophy ... PURE CLASS!!

I keep wondering why the MLB won't accept Cuban. I know they have their way of doing things, but if Cuban were to take a franchise like the Dodgers or Cubs and could turn them around? It'd be a cash cow and would attract so much positive press to the MLB. Sure, you'd have to take the good with the bad sometimes, but they should be inviting him with open arms, IMO.

The good ol' boys don't want a brash billionaire messing up their hierarchy.

I've heard today, Cuban is the 454th or 459th richest man in the world.
That said, some of the stuff he gets criticized for that he's done -not that I'm condoning anything he's done in the past- is for being young. The guy was the owner of the Mavs just being in his thirties, and he's still very young.
I don't blame the guy for not wanting to act like a snubbed, stuck up billionaire.
Kudos to him! ^5

I said, in the General NBA thread, that I wanted to see the Mavs win just to see what kind of celebration Cuban imagines. This guy is great. I would love for him to own the Broncos (no offense to Pat)...

I really think the McCourts have done a largely-unappreciated job with the Dodgers. I hope they own them for another fifty years.

Kind of like Al Davis has done the last 15 years.
