The wife of Brandon Marshall has returned to jail after allegedly violating a restraining order issued after an April incident in which police say she stabbed the Miami Dolphins wide receiver.

Michi Nogami-Marshall was arrested Friday after a "verbal dispute" at the couple's home in Southwest Ranches, Fla., according to the Broward County Sheriff's Office arrest report, CBS4 Miami reported.

The Sheriff's Office reported that deputies responded to a 911 hang-up at the couple's home Friday morning. Despite a protection order requiring her to stay at least 500 feet from the home, Nogami-Marshall, 27, told deputies she had been living there while Marshall was out of town. When Marshall returned, an argument occurred, followed by the 911 call.

There was no sign of physical violence, deputies said.

“Clearly, the arrest today -- based on her actions, she had to be taken into custody because she violated a court order,” Broward Sheriff's spokeswoman Veda Coleman-Wright told CBS4 Miami.

Nogami-Marshall was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after she allegedly stabbed her husband in the stomach with a kitchen knife on April 22. According to the arrest report, she admitted stabbing Marshall but said it was in self-defense. The Broward State Attorney's Office said in a statement that it was still investigating the incident.

Neither Marshall, who required surgery and was in intensive care following the April incident, nor his wife were cooperative Friday, Coleman-Wright said, and the Attorney's Office said investigators have encountered difficulty as they pursue the case.

"Despite numerous efforts, we so far have been unable to get Mr. Marshall to agree to voluntarily speak to our office about the incident," the Attorney's Office said in a statement. "We continue to diligently pursue this matter.”

Marshall initially claimed he suffered his stomach wound when he slipped and fell onto a broken glass vase, but the police report noted that there was "no blood within the immediate area to substantiate his claim."

The statement reads in part: “Despite numerous efforts, we so far have been unable to get Mr. Marshall to agree to voluntarily speak to our office about the incident. We continue to diligently pursue this matter.”

Marshall, who signed a five-year, $50 million contract last year after four seasons with the Denver Broncos, caught 86 passes for 1,014 yards in 14 games with the Dolphins last season.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

First I heard about him "Slipping" again. I am so glad he is out of Denver.

You were his wife and you knew a third of the crap he's done, you'd stab him too.

I'm sure she didn't live in a cave prior to getting married to him. Both have issues. So far she is the one that broke the law not once but twice. I'm sure he has done plenty to get stabbed but, crap man she is staying around for something.

That came out when the story first broke a couple of months ago. Wonder what happened the first time he slipped on the McDonald's bag.

Because he's the one that married and antagonized a nut job to the point that she stabbed him. He also isn't cooperating with police.

So much talent, so little brain.

Some people just can't be protected from themselves.

One of the first things I always asked myself before getting involved with a woman was "If things go wrong between us, is she the sort who would do everything she could to make my life a living hell?" ugh!~

Brandon clearly hasn't been especially selective! Ha!

For a phenomenally coordinated professional athlete, Brandon sure is clumsey! Ha!

how is it his fault?

well, he certainly doesn't make the best life choices in terms of who he surrounds himself with, and that's been his problem for many years now...but he's gone, and good riddance

When you're that rich and that young there's only 3 ways to ruin your life: violence, drugs, marrying/having a baby with a woman.

Just say no Brandon, just say no.

Basically this shows that his injury in Denver was a BS story as well. He told BS stories to cops on the night Darrent was murdered, now hes lying again. I'm willing to forgive 2 bad moves of Mcdaniels for getting 2 2nds for Marshall. Seriously moving him out of Denver was 100% the right move and saved Denver some real headaches.

Funny that some Bronco fans act like they miss the guy while at the same time saying Romo was a piece of ****. At least Romo's problem was he wanted to win sooo badly he would do anything on the field and off it to achieve his goal. What does Marshall really care about? He lies to police as a matter of principal. He's a ****ing turd and probably one of the worst humans Broncos have had on the team. One day, after football, Marshall is going to do something, or have something really bad happen to him. He makes the worst decisions and one day it will cost him big time.
