View Full Version : Upset - the Broncos will pick Fairley

Even if we don't get a trade (but trading back would be ideal - I think we trade back for less value than we want and grab him). That's my pick.

Here's a good overview that discounts the idea that he's a "risky" pick. It's possible this wall all misinformation from teams that want him.

My question to you guys is would you be upset with a Fairley pick? Is he part of the "fab four" or would this be a letdown?

if we picked him at #2 I think we would be doing ourselves a major disservice

yeah, I'd be pissed...not because of Fairley necessarily, I think he will work out fine

but working out fine isn't what #2 is for

I think he's a touch too small to be honest.

His play at community college should dispel that "one-year wonder" stuff. Plus, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to play DT. "IGOR...KILL QUARTERBACK!"

Not a fan. I think the red flags with him are the variety that lead to Haynesworth-type nonsense, and I've had enough nonsense with this team to last a lifetime.

EDIT: I should have been more specific. At #2 I want nothing to do with him. If we drop back to 10 or so, I'd have less an issue with it.

Yeah, it would be kinda like picking Moreno @ #12. Well maybe not that much of a let down... plus Fairley could actually turn into something real good, you know play up to his draft position.

I've said all along that the smear campaign against Fairley is pretty much unsubstantiated BS. The only thing they've got on him is he's friends with JaMarcus Russell...in other words, guilt by association BS. The dude step up and dominated in big games. He's third on my list after Peterson & Miller, but he will be a better pro than Dareus just as he was the better collegian. That said, although I think he's worth #2 in absolute terms, from a strategic standpoint I'd be annoyed if we didn't trade down first, because I doubt he'll be picked any sooner than 8th.

Yet another great article from It's All Over, Fat Man! I wouldn't see Fairley as a let down at all. I still have serious doubts about Miller, but all we are really doing on this site is splitting hairs and giving our opinions. I am thinking that barring a trade down Denver is going to be getting a very, very good player tomorrow night.

Even though I'd be happen with Fairley (or Dareus for that matter), I think it will be Miller or PP at the end of the day.

Fairley can still add a bit of size--maybe get to 300-305--and would sure look good between Ayers and Doom. I love this plan. I'm excited to be a part of it, let's do it!

I should get ready for this one

Von Miller or a slight trade back for Fairley would be cool with me.

We're not going to pick Fairley with the 2nd overall pick in this draft. You can take that to the bank.

So, are you buying into the Fairley smear campaign stuff? I just haven't heard anything that sounds solid, just garbage like "uh oh, he's friends with JaMarcus!" I think the lazy tag is garbage too. I mean, 24 tackles for loss and 11 sacks, plus he ALWAYS played big in the big games for Auburn. Just seems like nitpicking to me. Your thoughts? Maybe you've heard more solid info than I have.

I don't think it is smear campaign. When you surround yourself with questionable people, it brings up questions about your character. I just wonder how motivated this guy is going to be when he is given a big contract.

FWIW, his character isn't even an issue with me. It is using a #2 selection on a guy who had ONE GREAT YEAR in college football. He is a solid prospect no doubt, but is not a top ten player in my books. I would not consider him in the top ten at all.

Fair enough. I haven't seen anything substantive enough to buy into the character questions, but the one year wonder stuff is something to worry about (though I still think it's a bit overplayed....for instance, Clay Matthews was a one year wonder after only being a special teamer for three years).

If fairley drops like a stone all the way to 14 or so with the rams what are the chances we'd move up to grab him? Having miller, doom, ayers, and fairley rushing the qb would be pretty amazing. There's no way we take him at 2 though, I'm convinced that short of a trade down millers our guy
