Probably only because there isn't going to be a week 1 this year. Wouldn't be suprised at all to see our home games front-loaded.

And leaks that we'll be playing the Jets at home on a Thursday night in November, from twitter:

@MikeKlis: Bronx play jets at home on thursday nite in november - not thanksgiving

yep, you know the NFL planned this because there is reason to believe some of the early games of the season might indeed be cancelled. Thanks NFL, thanks for nutt'n.

This is all Tebow, and I'm not saying that in the typical joking "QB Jesus" talk.

The League knows he's going to pull ratings. No way a 4-12 team that in reality is just starting the rebuilding process should pull (at least) 2 primetime games, but for a major ratings draw.

Now if he only beats out Orton to start.

A home game to open the season... I'm astounded.

There will be games. Just not till week 2! You just wait no home opener for the Broncos

If that's the case why would the NFL "waste" a week 1 matchup of Saints vs Packers?

Yep! Clearly the league expects Tebow to be the man. The only way he doesn't start over Orton is if the lockout extends right up to the opener. And then, he starts within a few weeks anyway!

Unless I'm mistaken, it's a league rule that all teams get at least one primetime game each year.

I have never seen that rule, the only rule that i have seen is the maximum appearance rule in reference to flex scheduling.

The forgotten five: Teams with no primetime games

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on April 20, 2011, 10:08 AM EDT
AP
The Lions and their fans are fired up to have their first Monday Night Football game in a decade.

On the other side of things: Fans of the five NFL teams that didn’t get a single primetime game, subject to change if any of them got flexed into a late Sunday night game.

As pointed out by ESPN’s Paul Kuharsky, here’s the list of five teams with no national night games: Tennessee, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Arizona, and Carolina.

The list points out how fleeting success and attention can be in the NFL. The Titans and Panthers both had byes in the playoffs that started in 2009. The Cardinals were in the Super Bowl that year, and they were in the playoffs the following year. The Bengals were the AFC North champs a season ago.

The list of five teams has one more thing in common, with apologies to Ryan Fitzpatrick: They all have unsettled quarterback situations.

The great thing about the NFL is that you are always only one year away from relevance. The Rams and Bucs were both forgotten franchises at this time a year ago, and they each have two primetime games this season.

its sounds like a good idea.

It makes sense, what with 17 MNF games, and 8 TNF games and 16 SNF games that leaves the option for 82 teams to play. Kinda hard to believe that it doesn't happen.

84 if you count the two other Thanksgiving games (I assume you counted one in the 8 TNF figure).

Was just counting Primetime games...they were refering to the lions not having a MNF game for a decade, not sure if that included thursday and sunday nights.

Raiders @ Broncos might be a closer game this year. If Denver manages to play twice as good and Oakland only plays half as good, it should be about 29-20 Raiders.

So this being the 6 seasons they have had double headers to open MNF this is the 5th time that it has been and AFC West matchup, The other being a NFC west matchup in 2007. And this will be the 2nd Broncos v Raiders opener...last was in 08 and was a 41-14 drubing of the fade.
