PFW: Broncos could look to add a running back (http://www.profootballweekly.com/2011/04/01/broncos-could-look-to-add-a-running-back)

No brainer, considering how Fox likes to have two good running backs. I would be fine with them starting as early as #36 to fine a runner to pair with Moreno. Who are some of your favorite prospects at the RB position?

Knowing this... We already picked up Stevan Ridley from LSU in the orangemane mock draft... 6th round steal

Not in rounds 1 or 2. But I'd like Carter out of Syracuse in rd 3. Helu out of Neb has nice measurables for round 4, but I hate Nebraska and therefore haven't seen him. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they took Evans out of VaTech in the 6th if he's still there.

But they have knowsho and burkhalter, which is more than they have at most positions.

I'd guess round 5.

my two sleepers are Delone Carter- this dude will ball!

And I like Graig Cooper...There are other good backs with sexy skills and 230lbs who run a 4.4- but............

I feel like Cooper- who is much faster than his .40 at combine shows is a 100% perfect fit for our ZBS. and would be a nice change up to knowshon. And Delone is like MJD...This guy, I have really high hopes for. Been pimping his ass all offseason. Strait up man beast. but at 5'8- he will be available mid rounds, possibly ufda.

The current RB roster is:

Lance Ball
Buckhalter
Kyle Eckel
Jeremiah Johnson
Maroney
Mike McLaughlin
Knowshon
Lendale

Pretty thin.

That's another reason to explore trading down from #2 to accumulate draft picks.

Who is going to trade up to get #2.... easy for everyone to keep saying trade down, but you need a trading partner.

Hell no don't trade down but you could get rid of all those guys and I could care less. While I would prefer getting another RB in free agency (and not Williams) I'd rather they use the 1 offense pick I'm giving them in the draft for a RB rather than a QB. But would rather pick up a TE or T than a RB.

If Kendall Hunter, Mikel Leshoure, or the kid from Va Tech slip into the third, I think you have to strongly consider it. Especially if we've gone front seven heavy with 1st, 2A, and 2B.

It's going to be a difficult choice if Mark Ingram is still there with our second round pick. With "not so stellar" track numbers, he could possibly slide to the second. Not likely, but a realistic possibility.

him or Alex Green from Hawaii would be really good pickups late.

I wouldn't mind drafting Dion Lewis, RB, Pittsburgh in the later rounds.

I think he is being undervalued in this draft.

Newsflash: Denver looking to acquire more wins in 2011.

It's that time of year...

But that said, I expect Denver to draft a running back in the mid to late rounds.

The first time I saw him, I was sure he'd be a 1st rounder. His stocked has dropped considerably, but that kid can make people miss in tight spaces. I wouldn't be upset at all if we ended up with him sometime after the 3rd.

I don't want a running back in the first 2 rounds, but from the 3rd and after there should be some good players available. If Leshoure, Ryan Williams, Derrick Locke, Kendall Hunter, Shane Vereen, or Noel Devine end up being a Bronco I would be happy with it.

Hillis may be pretty good, but the brothas take exception to a white boy running the rock against them. They take particular exception to white boys running the rock with success.

Yep....during his freshman year, I thought he was a sure-fire first round pick.

We need another RB. But after Round 1 I really hope we just go BPA, so if a RB is BPA when we pick so be it, otherwise FA is fine this year.

Are you trying to compare Hillis and his one decent year out of 3 to a sure-fire HOFer?

Why did his stats fall so badly after his sophomore year? Did he lose a bunch of linemen?

Bilal Powell. Good vision, good speed, is the type of one-cut-and-go player who excels in the ZBS, has TD-like second level moves, can make the big play.

I heard on nfln that teams are concerned about his knee and he could need microfracture surgery

A guy I haven't seemed mentioned so far in this thread is Jacquizz Rodgers. I want the Falcons to draft him badly, but he fits what the Broncos need as well.

I wouldn't say "fell so bad" personally.

1400 yards to 1350 to 1200.

His junior year was just as good. Unfortunately, he was THE premier prospect for this years draft (over Ingram) heading into last season and defenses keyed on him, and more importantly, DC's played to shut him down because Clark was gone and McGloin/Bolden weren't scaring anyone.

As the record showed, it worked.

Royster doesn't have blazing speed or bruising size, but the kid can play football at a VERY high level, is durable as ****, and at 4.5, he's plenty fast enough.

I think that DeMarco is essentially Reggie Bush at the next level. He's going to get drafted by someone who runs alot of RB screens and moves their RB out to WR often.

He's a ZBS kind of runner too, so he'll probably be a little more of a true RB than Bush is if he gets drafted by the right team. I could see the Patriots targeting Murray.

I wouldnt mind having him at all, because he's maybe a better back than Moreno.

I was more looking at TDs and YPC when I was saying that his stats fell off, but that all makes sense.

There are a bunch of guys available on the 3rd day or as UDFAs that may be just as good as the top guys at the RB position. I think any of them could help the team.

Who cares, if we can find someone or generate a good enough of a smoke screen to get some team(s) to jump up while we stock pile some later round picks we could land a 2nd round QB that Elway has been reported in love with then we need to get the best TE in the draft ad then a Speed RB to complement what little we have in KM, in a very late round i.e 6th or lower like in the old days.

THen land a couple depth DT's in the late 3rd early 4th that can enter our rotation and complement our healthy Doom and Ayers who are moving from 3-4 OLB's to 4-3 DL DE's I thought Bannan would have been nice in that rotation and could have played some DT in a pinch.

It would also get us a chance at a real blocking FB competition at Dove Valley if there is a TC this year.

I think we can try to address a lot of holes by moving back as far as we can in the 1st or even 2nd round. We just can't afford to miss on all those 2nd round picks that mCd missed.

DeMarco Murray is far from a Reggie Bush clone, but I get what you're saying about his role.
He has such amazing skillsets though to me. He is very much a ZBS runner, one cut and go type of back. He has solid toughness, ability to make defenders miss, and exceptional skills as a WR for a RB.
I think he would thrive in a RB by committee role and could be a vital weapon receiving as well.
