View Full Version : Orange Turf

They should install orange turf at Mile High. I think it would intensify the home-field advantage. Teams would be surrounded by a sea of orange in the stands, under their feet, and everywhere they look. Orange is intimidating. It screams Warning! - these Broncos are dangerous! Change the unis to orange too. Let's get this done!

I might be wrong, but I think the owners voted this year to ban any color of fields other than green.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/03/22/there-will-be-no-blue-nfl-fields/

There were important rule changes made on Tuesday regarding kickoffs. Instant replay was changed, and other important player safety measures were tabled.

All of that has only served to overshadow the real news coming out of New Orleans: There will never be a blue field in the NFL.

BSU blue field is great. It doesnt show as well on tv, but in person it's striking. Its a great move for the university if for nothing more than the publicity it receives. It's one of the first things people ask about when I tell them im from boise.

When it first happened, I made sure I watched the game then I realized I like their football program and became a pseudo fan of the team. It worked out great for them but sometimes the colored surface goes to far......Oregon Ducks basketball court!

While we're at it, anyone remember this?

Soft Drink Turned Toddler Yellow (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/wales/578945.stm)

Drink manufacturers American conglomerate Procter and Gamble were responding to reports from a paediatrician that a four-year-old he saw was a "yellowy colour" after drinking too much Sunny Delight.

Dr Duncan Cameron, from Glan Clywd hospital near Rhyl had the child brought to him after her hands and face turned bright orange and yellow.

Official team drink?

I'm from Boise. I think not! Not that they need more of a home field advantage, but with the new seats that wiil be put in soon and will enclose the whole field, its gonna be even harder for oposing teams to win there.

Okay, it would be hard on the eyes on TV. It's all about the fans, so I guess it's a bad idea. However, I think it would help home field advantage, but if you can't watch the games on TV, what's the point?

The UTSA orange field is hard on the eyes. I always liked the Boise Blue and it dosn't kill anything for me. Except that it spawned this rage for colored turf.

PS: Love the Purple turf pictured somewhere here. If that is real it's awesome only because it is purple...now change it back to green after the team photo please. Thank you

Oh, man....that thing sucks so hard. I first saw it this year when 'SC played up there. Brutal to even watch on TV.

Boise's cool by me b/c they were OG. The other ones suck for the most part.

I gotta admit though, that black turf in post #17 looks sharp. If an NFL dome team went to that, it could work.

Central Arkansas takes the colorful turf trend to a new level
http://mit.zenfs.com/214/2011/04/Central-Arkansas-Field.jpg

For future reference, April 1 is probably not the best date to unveil this kind of project to the world. But I've been personally assured by University of Central Arkansas assistant sports information director Josh Goff that the plan to install purple-and-gray artificial turf at 8,000-seat Estes Stadium is very real

Picture an opposing QB scanning the field when suddenly....Elvis Dumveril seemingly rises from an orange surface and engulfs said QB.....then, as fast as he appeared, disappears into the sea of orange.
