The best part:

SS: So Mayock says he can’t see you getting past Denver. Now, if the Panthers don’t take you, and you do end up with the Broncos at No. 2, that means you’ll be Tim Tebow’s teammate.

MD: (Laughs)

SS: Hey, you guys go back. You’ve spent a lot of time trying to get to him. Wouldn’t you rather be going up against him again?

MD: To be honest with you, I always wanted to play with him. Because he works so hard. I work hard at what I do. He works so hard, and he just wants to win. He’s got such a drive to win. Tim Tebow has the mentality of, ‘I want to win. And I’m going to take you, you, you, and you with me.’ I like that about him.

Whatever the actual ratio is.....

It seems to me that most of the Dareus backers will be pissed at a Peterson selection. Most of the Peterson backers (myself included) will be fine if it's Dareus. We'd just prefer BPA is all.

I am a big Dareus guy, but I have to say by now the only player I would be happy with if it isn't Dareus is Peterson, we need a defensive difference maker who plays every play and these 2 guys will give us that.

Just watched a segment on ESPN...NFL live where Herm Edwards and Mark Schlereth broke down Pertersons game. Pretty darn impressive to say the least. One point I did not consider was that with Peterson and Champ both on an island, it gives the defense more opprotunities to blitz from all over the place, creating havok for the offensive line.

Like someone else stated, I will not be pissed if we end up with either player in the draft.

I will be surprised if its not Darius, though I think Peterson's the best player available. I'm normally against not going BPA, but it's different for two reasons: 1. because Den has the two slot and Darius is probably the only front 4 guy who has near zero bust factor, so even if Den could trade down and I don't think their pick is that valuable, it might not work out, and they can't afford a bust. 2. They've got Champ and Goodman's salaries already. Signing Peterson and then trying to cut Goodman would wreak havoc on the cap.

I will be ecstatic if we pick Dareus but I still want Peterson.

Every time these two guys are discussed for our pick, I think of Mike Nolan's wrong-headed "you build a defense from the back to the front" strategy.

Please John, front to back like championship teams are built, it has to be Dareus.

That's kind of a laughable assertion. Wes Welker may be too quick for Peterson, but Peterson will never be covering Welker. If you think Fitzgerald, Moss, Marshall, Colston, Aj Green, Lloyd, Wayne, etc are going to out quick Peterson then you just aren't dealing in reality.

Why PP is such an intriguing prospect is that he's the prefect counter to the big physical WRs in today's NFL.

The great part of this dim-witted take is that under Nolan our defense was better than it's been in a long time.

How smart do you have to be to play the ball as a Free Safety?

At 4.3 speed - no one is going to "outquick" Peterson.

If Peterson is as good as the poll on this board indicates -- he will be every WR's worst bad dream come true -

Like a dark presence in the back of their minds --

I liked this quote:

SS: So, let me ask you, how is it playing for Nick Saban? Because a lot of people think heís like the Bill Belichick of college football, kind of a curmudgeon. What do you think?
MD: Everything they say about Coach Saban is true. He is hard-nosed, man. He doesnít take it easy. He doesnít cut any slack. The sense from him is if you could do it perfect, then why not do it perfect. Not almost perfect, why not perfect. Heís serious, and heís always focused. Thatís just how he is.

SS: How often would you find yourself frustrated or upset when he got on you about something?
MD: I didnít really catch myself getting frustrated. After about two months of being around him, I figured out how he was. You just got to roll with the punches. You knew what he was bringing to the table. I knew what I was getting myself into. I signed up for it, and I had to get things done.

That wasnt a manufactured answer either. Dareus is a young man with a good sense of responsibility.

John is doing his due dilligence, and I only think he'll take a QB if he's 100% sold on a guy as a can't miss franchise player. I can't imagine he would reach that conclusion with any of these guys, but you never know. The meltdown would be epic.

I think at the end of the day, John will play it smart and take whomever he believes is the best defensive player and ride Tebow for 2011. If he sucks, fine...we'll know what we have and probably have another top 5 pick where we will be in realistic position for Luck.

NFL Network's Jason La Canfora believes that Marcell Dareus is the Broncos' "guy" at No. 2 overall in the draft.

We've now got the Denver Post, NFL Network's Mike Mayock, and La Canfora all saying Dareus will be the pick. This is all assuming the Panthers don't take Dareus No. 1 overall, of course. La Canfora cautions to "make no mistake -- (Dareus) is among the players under consideration at first overall."

The general consensus is that any collective bargaining agreement will include a rookie cap for the first round players. In fact, I think that is one of the areas that both players and owners agree on right now. A structure that would limit the salaries on first round players but remain the same for 2nd through 7th round players. And no players are being signed until a CBA is in place...

look at it this way....with no free agency, teams will be forced to fill roster spots with draft picks
