I'm pleading with you. Wait. for. the. dvd. Don't waste your money at the theaters (I know I know, a bunch of you already think the movies are a ripoff, but this isn't directed towards you).

Aside from 25 minutes of pretty awesome special effects, the rest of the movie is garbage. It tries (miserably) to paint this moral picture "you already have the tools, now fight!", but fails on just about every level with plot holes, crappy acting, CHEESY one liners (Scott Glenn, you ****ed up homie), and a mish mash of ideas that just never come together, complete with one of the worst endings I've ever seen.

NOW.

I'm not usually the type that criticizes film...I'm the guy in the group who always finds the silver lining in just about EVERY movie; there is a point when even MY optimism can come to a grinding halt. Today was that day. I've enjoyed PLENTY of ho hum special effects laden extravaganzas, but I just couldn't do it this time.

Seriously.

DO NOT waste your money!!!!

It's weird. I'm a pretty harsh critic (i think all comic book movies are ****ing retarded), but i really liked Suckerpunch. There's something about Zack Snyder. He over-stylizes his movies to the point where they just become their own genre. I bought it. I found it sexy. I dug it.

This has been a weird year for me. I generally go to the movies a lot and also find the silver lining in just about any movie. It's rare I just hate something from start to finish.

This year, though, I literally haven't been to the movies once. Nothing has really jumped out at me that screams "see me in the theater". But then I look ahead to all the movies coming out later this Spring and Summer and there's probably at least 20 that do scream it. No real spreading of the wealth this year for me.

I saw an extended preview and while the women looked really hot, It looked like one of those "let's show their imagination!" movies where they show CGI dragons and they're really banging on a door with a mop in real life. I hate that stuff.

That is because no one wants to risk $100 million + on something that is not a sequel, remake, or comic book/graphic novel.

They cater to the Transformer generation where every scene has an explosion in it.

It would make a great band name too, "Poopfist" or "5,000 Fists of Poop".

Poopfist sounds more hippy Phish, Deadhead type band and "5,000 Fists of Poop" sounds like a hard core death metal band. Maybe I would go with "Broncosteven and the Poopfist" for the songwriter lead singer name.

Poopfist wasn't a typo, it was an image conjured up on the basis that a fistful of poop would've been better than the ten dollars and fifty cents I spent on that waste of two hours. Upon further reflection, it would be a fantastic username OR death metal group, so I release all rights to OABB and Broncosteven to use as they see fit.

And for the record, I LOVED 300, enjoyed watchmen, and was impressed with Dawn of the Dead. So, Snyder, imo, layed an egg here

Gay director makes great movies when the leads are male...not so much when they are female. I'd say that's typical. Which is why I have high hopes for the Superman reboot.

This film was appropriately titled because watching it feels like you were sucker punched! I saw it and was amazed how I was not titillated. Here you have everything that should give you fuel for masterbatory greatness - hot chicks in hot outfits, fighting, chicks with guns, chicks fighting giant samurai, etc. Nurses! And yet none of it comes off hot and sexy. That's what happens when you have a gay man' version of "sexy".

I liked it, it was sexy and exciting. It was one hell of a roller coaster ride and definitely worth the matinée price I paid to see it. Will it go into my all time top ten movie list? No, but it was a fun ride.

I guess I didn't have unreal expectations about the movie. I knew before hand that the plot wasn't going to win an Oscar but the cast was freaking hot and the action scenes looked unreal. To me, that was enough to take the movie for what it was and have a good time with it.

The same can be said about 300. Great special effects with poor character development which ultimately didn't stop me from paying full price to be entertained for a couple of hours. Again, will 300 go down as one of my all time favorite films? No, but that doesn't mean it was a total waste.

If you're the type of person that expects too much from their entertainment then Sucker Punch is not for you. On the other hand, if you just want to be entertained for a few hours with hot chicks in sexy outfits, awesome action scenes and a pretty damn good soundtrack then go see it.

I knew going in that Sucker Punch wasn't going to win an Oscar but I still had a great time and enjoyed watching scantily clad ladies kick major ass. It was fun.

Glad you enjoyed it

I read your post and various replies and it seems to me that you had expectations of some sort. Don't get me wrong, I had expectations as well. It's just my expectations seemed to be a lot lower then yours.

I'm not defending the movie per say or even trying to convince you that you're wrong. What I am saying is that if your expectations fell in line with what the movie is then it would be hard not to be entertained. I went into the movie with expectations of seeing hot women and cool action scenes; that's it. I came away pleased with how the movie fulfilled my expectations. I didn't go into the movie expecting quality acting or a deep, immersive plot. If I did then I can see how my expectations would be not be met. Additionally, I wasn't expecting or wanting a cool soundtrack but the movie surprised me by giving me one.

If all you want to see is hot women in sexy outfits kicking ass in cool action scenes then the movie delivers. If you want a deep plot with quality character development then you'll more then likely be disappointed. It all depends on what you want out of the movie.

To each their own.

It was fun.

I'm with you. I liked it. It showed some originality that is not seen in Hollywood, these days. The premise of the movie was pretty implausible, but that's OK. It's just a movie...AND it had a relatable message...

This is usually where Mock would chime in with some non-sequitur.
