This question was produced from thread: Parent of Choice inspired by Orangeandblueblooded's Pwnfest Thread (http://www.orangemane.com/BB/showthread.php?t=97433)

Posts there brought up the question about driving.

Who are the best drivers?

Woulda had more play if you just kept it in WRP. Claim something like... women should've never been able to drive and then it's a political issue.

What's not to love about yet another thread that's likely to devolve into flaming?

Danica Patrick (she is a more-skilled driver than a large percentage of men). :moon:

I'm already getting enough heat. You could help people find it. How about a vote

Like my dad always says:

Son, I had no idea how bad a driver I was 'til I married your mother...

I think men tend to get in more accidents.

However, it seems that 90% of the time when someone is tailgating me it's a woman.

So, I guess I'm saying women tend to annoy me a lot more than men on the road, but yet insurance companies signify women are safer drivers.

BTW, do we really doubt what the results of a poll will be on a message board that is predominantly male. ^5

The OP says 'best', not 'safest', however. Best would imply an element of safety but also an element of ability in various situations--like say, NASCAR races.

On another thread someone brought up how many more fatalities and accidents males get into. My response was:

I wonder if these two groups being the highest could be related age related factors?

Males 20-24 have large amounts of testosterone and are larger risk takers. They tend to have limited experience and a desire to impress others. I wonder if that would lead to greater risks.

85 and older I wonder if diminished skills and limited physical ability has something to do with this stat.

I wonder why the data doesn't include the proportion of time driven. Males drive more frequently and further than females on average. I’m not going to waste today finding the studies but they have been done.

Most women drive with 0-15 miles from home while males drive an expanded range of 0-35 miles from the last study I read. I wonder if you drive further if you would be on a highway with increased risk?

How about the fact that the majority of professional drivers are male. Truck drivers, Chauffeurs, Cab drivers, tour bus drivers, train engineers all are predominately male. Curious still why would a job that has little to do with physical strength be dominated by males so disproportionately?

Quick question. As a male when I go places as a couple I do most of the driving.

So the question:

Who does most of the driving in a relationship males or females?

all good points......I almost always drive, and probably put twice as many miles in a year on our vehicles.

10 years into owning two cars. One car have 47,000 miles (21,000 of which were mine) and other car 123,000 miles (8,000 of my partners). Male: 136,000, to Female 34,000 miles. I think we know who drives in our house.

This doesn't include work vehicles

I met her at a signing with a bunch of the other drivers. She was the least friendly driver there. My 5 year old asked for an autograph and she didn't even look at him or talk to him when she signed her photo. Every other driver we went to was great with my son and made him feel special.

Another thing, men and women just plain drive differently but I'm not sure one is better or safer than another. Generalizing here, If two women come to a stop sign at pretty much the same time they will sit and waive eachother through for 5 minutes regardless of who has the right of way. They are being polite. Forever. If I get to a stop sign at the same time as a woman driver I will wait about 3 seconds, if she isn't moving I will go regardless of right of way just to remove the ambiguity from the situation. If it's two guys I have to keep my eyes open as we both will tend to try to go because usually both of us believe we got there first and has the right of way.

Each and every human behind the wheel is a distracted and/or aggressive retard, and given a long enough timeline will crash due to distraction and/or aggression. Women are more easily distracted. Men are more aggressive. Either way, we all suck and we're playing Russian Roulette every time we drive. Someday we will look back at this time in history and marvel at the fact that we let humans operate 2-ton lethal weapons for daily transportation.

Having another happy day Doc? :welcome:

If a virus killed 40,000 people per year in the U.S. alone, there would be pandemonium. In almost every instance, automobile crashes are due to human inattention and/or aggression. Hardly anyone gives a second thought about how insanely dangerous the typical american driver is... yet the swine flu comes along and everyone shiats themselves in fear. Not that I'm surprised...

nobody cares though when people are stupid. Most are drinking and driving or texting whatever.

If peeps got the swine flu from raping pigs, then no one would care either. Its all a matter of perspective.

Literally have almost been in four accidents the past week or so because of poor female drivers. A female driver actually blew a stop sign while she was on her cell phone as I was attempting to cross the street. I was about two foot from getting smoked at 35 MPH. I ended up taking my pop I had in my hand and tossed it at her car and ended up hitting it. Hope that pissed her off.

Most drivers are horrible. Male and female.

Get the f out of the passing lane when you are going 10 under the speed limit you slow mother f'ers.
