It has got to be Edie (Ciao Baby) by the Cult. Such an awesome song stripped down. There are some cover versions on the net and some live versions by the Cult but the guitar plugged in loses its pureness and innocence. Taking rocking songs and stripping it down when it was first put on paper with guitar is raw yet so real. Dont get me wrong, I love the full set of the band playing Edie but this one just gets your head thinking about the words. Totally love it and wish one of those kids on American Idol would do this song. It would be like Lambert doing The Tears for Fears song Mad World.
Here it is without the video...
http://wn.com/Edie_(Ciao_Baby) Pick song #13

If you are a guitar player, pick song #14 with the cover version by someone. Not too bad at all but it is plugged in.

This one is Duffy and Ashbury live. If anyone has a better acoustic version with the band, post it on this thread.

Those annoying Dave Matthews fans constantly yelling in the foreground is a beating though. Someone should have dropped a beer on 'em.

Tommy Emmanual is a very good acoustic player but I don't like his material, he needs to be in a band.

I like this kids playing:

Well, no offense, or anything, but you don't know the music very well.

He hasn't been alternative for quite some time.

But there's always a reason why musicians are popular.

This doesn't really count as acoustic since Bruce Watson from Big Country is plugged in but I'm a huge Alarm fan so I'll post it anyway.

I think Mike Peters & Slim finally killed DMW John but if they ever bring it back I'll let you know. Super cool side project band that rotates guys like

Mike Peters
Capt. Sensible
Slim
Kirk Brandon
Billy Duffy
Bruce Watson
Glen Matlock

Last time I saw them at HOB it was Mike, Slim, Kirk and Captain & they played an even mix of Alarm, Stray Cats, Damned & Spear of Destiny tracks.

BCJ......I could listen to Billy play acoustic all day!

Saw this at Capitol in 2005 with Mike on vocals again and Craig Adams (Sisters of Mercy, Mission) on bass.

The three of them had a band in the late 90's called Coloursound.

Bad video and too many people singing but I think I gotta go with SSS over Edie as Billy's acoustic gem.

I wasnt ripping Matthews, I was ripping those fans...who wouldnt be anywhere near Reynolds' performance if he wasnt an occasional Matthews Band member.

They probably call him "Tim" or "Timmy" and air guitar his parts when they're at the field party wobbling around the campfire by the empty keg.

I like Matthews Band alright. Carter Beauford is the major reason why.

While I like the acoustic Sanctuary, that song rips with all instruments involved. Edie (Ciao Baby) sounds better acoustic. I blast Sanctuary when it is on the car radio. It is that type of song. It needs everything involved. The bass and rhythem guitar just makes this song so Fing awesome. Will never get tired of this song with those riffs. Only "Love Removal Machine" can come close to the power of that song. Song I play louder? "Wild Flower"!

It looks like he has a large hand and pinky, hard to tell on the smaller scale guitars.

I would like to hear him doing a tune with more inner voice movements to get a real test of his ability but those tunes are impressive for anyone.

Hope he keeps it up, a kid with that talent has a bright future.

This guy is amazing with Dave but we went and saw a solo show of his at the big easy in Boise Idaho. I am a guitar player and I walked out. It was the worst show I have ever seen. He came out in a old English helmet that was too big for his head. Went down to his chin ( this should have been notice enough. ) the he decided to play the key board with one hand and his guitar with the other. It was some strange noise I will not call it music.

I just don't know how someone can be that good an that bad !
