In Orange County, a group of Muslims hold a fundraiser for homeless and women's shelters, and a Tea Party protest was organized. The protestors gathered around shouting at the Muslims attending the fundraiser. Things shouted in the video include "go back home", "no Sharia law", "go home and beat your wife", "God bless America", etc.
Seriously, WTF? This is in an affluent part of California, not some backwoods hicktown in the South. Ignorance, xenophobia and hatred all on display in their full glory here.

It's funny, I certainly understand there is a dangerous, radical, violent Muslim minority. They understandably get all the focus of the press. They're the ones the right wing in particular uses as part of their rhetoric and propaganda to support the war machine. But then things like this happen and you wonder why a lot of people "over there" hate us:
We were almost done collecting the wood when suddenly we saw the helicopters come, said Hemad, who, like many Afghans, has only one name. There were two of them. The helicopters hovered over us, scanned us and we saw a green flash from the helicopters. Then they flew back high up, and in a second round they hovered over us and started shooting. They fired a rocket which landed on a tree. The tree branches fell over me and shrapnel hit my right hand and my side.
The tree, Hemad said, saved his life by covering him so that he could not be seen by the helicopters, which, he said, shot the boys one after another.http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/03/world/asia/03afghan.html?hp
I mean, can you imagine 9 American boys being accidentally slaughtered by foreign occupiers? Sit back and contemplate that for a moment.

Interesting that you would refer to "Hick towns in the South". It shows a certain lack of realization about "what" exists "where". I think you could take a larger view of things. You know..as if things are so black and white. lol

I've spent a lot of time in the midwest and south, I have a fairly good idea about what it's like out there. One of the reasons I prefer living on the west coast is the general open-mindedness and highly diverse blend of cultures - not something I really associate with the South.

I've seen it everywhere. A redneck, liberal, or whatever on the east side is the same as a redneck, liberal, or whatever on the west side. We are all the same even though we express it, whatever "it" may be, in different ways. We are all subject to the human condition. We all are intolerant bigoted wankers with our own self-interests with one really no better than the other.

I agree, everyone has views and most people have some sort of innate bias or even intolerance. But some communities have much higher concentrations of people with these views, and some of those communities tolerate or even promote it.
In the places I've lived on the west coast (Las Vegas, Seattle, San Diego), there is such a rich diversity of cultures, backgrounds and opinions that you don't see those types of attitudes flaunted publicly as much as you do in the insular and isolated communities.

All of them, no doubt. They're on the same level as Westboro, except 1) these ****ers actually claim to be doing this because they love America and 2) plenty of politicians are aligning themselves with these ugly events because it helps their credibility with their core.
Seriously, any of those congressmen shown speaking at the rally should either issue an immediate condemnation of what took place that night or resign. Any "patriotic event" the devolves to screaming hate at young children is no better than a KKK or skinhead rally.

Yeah, that's not going to happen. In the above video:
"I don't even care if you think I'm crazy anymore. I have a beautiful daughter, I have a wonderful 19 yr old son who is a US Marine. As a matter of fact, I know quite a few marines who would be happy to help these terrorists [pointing] to an early meeting in paradise." [crowd laughter and cheering]

Get ready for a constant stream of this poison from the right running up to 2012. They're going to be like a desperate, hungry, cornered rodent. It's not going to be pretty.
Fischer: "And so I'd like you to comment on that. You seem to think that there is some validity to the fact that there may be some fundamental anti-Americanism in this president."
Huckabee: "Well, that's exactly the point that I make in the book. And I don't know why these reporters -- maybe they can't read... And I have said many times publicly, that I do think [president Obama] has a different worldview and I think it's, in part, molded out of a very different experience. Most of us grew up going to Boy Scout meetings and, you know, our communities were filled with Rotary Clubs, not madrassas."

When I was a kid in Hermosa Beach, the couple who ran the little grocery store across the street were Muslims from Lebanon. One of their daughters was my little sister's best friend. They were the nicest people. Hard working. I can't imagine some pigs shouting this stuff at them. People like these ignorant hicks make it embarassing to be an American.

Beavis & Butt-Head
<!--paging_filter-->"Huhhhh, huhhhh, huhhhh. Look Beavis, we are, like, on TV again. This rules." [Pause] "Yes, yes, yes! Fire, fire, fire!"
Beavis & Butt-Head, MTV's '90s cartoon series that came to as much define the grunge and alt-rock era as bands like Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, and Pearl Jam, is returning to the airwaves this summer, MTV (http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1657156/beavis-butthead-return.jhtml) reports. Yes, that means all-new episodes of the fart-joke crackin', heavy-metal-lovin', socially- and sexually-inept Highland, TX, duo, who premiered on MTV in 1993, started a controversy with parents for their foul language and behavior, and starred in a 1996 film Beavis and Butt-Head Do America, before the show was canceled in 1997.
The show's creator, Office Space director Mike Judge (who went on to produce King of the Hill), will return to the helm of the half-hour comedy and will again voice the roles of both Beavis and Butt-Head.
Exciting right? Even Justin Bieber, who wasn't even born when the show premiered in '93, is stoked for the dim-witted duo's return. He Tweeted (http://twitter.com/justinbieber/status
/32928441770713088#), "Solid day in NYC. Played hoops and just went to the MTV Upfronts...BEAVIS and BUTTHEAD are coming back!!!"
Are you excited for Beavis and Butt-Head's return? Tell us in the comment section below.

I think the Supreme Court yesterday ruled this was free speech.
Just wondering, did you start a similiar thread when those protesters were hassling families at burials of dead soldiers?
Both should be condemned equally loudly in my opinion. Free speech or not this is disgusting behaviour.
To try and associate this with the larger tea party movement is a bunch of nonsense though.

I used to not mind Huck that much: a little dim, but came across as goofy and nice enough. Far from the worst person to get a Fox show.
But, wow, has he come off ugly in this recent Obama/Kenya debacle. Not so much just for continuing this bizarre "Obama the anti-colonialist" concept that has captured the right's imagination the last few months. It's more the concept underlying some of his quotes, that you don't have an "American worldview" if you didn't grow up in the midwest with Boy Scouts and Baptist Churches. **** him.

One of the speakers was a Muslim who was implicated in the first wtc bombing. He was on a list of people a US atty said probably knew about it.
Another of the speakers is a known Hamas/Hezzbolah supporter.

Free speech is being treated like a loop hole for only the worst of us. I wish that there were conversation about free thought. People have no ability to think anymore.
