Politicians cant do it because their donors are the ones how benefit from over spending. Besides, with all money as debt, if the Govt actually did pay off the debt we would be in a different kind of big trouble.

and his namesake, Paul Ryan as well. It's not that they CAN'T figure it out, it's that they would sacrifice the political capital they get by NOT figuring it out. The way you get into positions of power is by promising dollars, not promising a thorough review of the efficiency of a government agency.

Obama ordered the cabinet to cut $100 million from the $3.5 trillion federal budget.
http://articles.cnn.com/2009-04-20/politics/obama.cabinet.cuts_1_savings-effort-white-house-federal-budget?_s=PM:POLITICS

I'm so impressed by this sacrifice that I have decided to do the same thing with my personal budget. I spend about $2000 a month on groceries, household expenses, medicine, utilities, etc, but it's time to get out the budget cutting axe, go through my expenses, and cut back.

I'm going to cut my spending at exactly the same ratio, 1/35,000 of my total budget. After doing the math, it looks like instead of spending $2000 a month, I'm going to have to cut that number by six cents. Yes, I'm going to have to get by with $1999.94, but that's what sacrifice is all about. I'll just have to do without some things.

The faster people wake up and get pissed off, the quicker that will change.

I'm not sold on Ryan yet, seems to be a hawk, pro nation building, pro aid to other countries...It's time to worry about America and Americans. We as Americans have thought we were paying for aid to people around the world, pounding our chests as the most charatable members of society. Little did most of us know, we were paying to prop up dictators, and buy munitions such as tear gas, that those dictators then used on their own people. It's time to end ALL foreign aid around the world.

In terms of budget issues, he's one of the brighter guys up there, IMO. No doubt he parts ways with Ron Paul on most foreign policy issues.

Yikes.

They want to cut barely anything from "International Organizations, and Global Health", but they list "Veterans' Benefits, and Defense (twice)" as getting some of the biggest cuts?

I'm all for dismantling our international empire, but that crap is insane. We want our other public employees to have awesome benefit packages, but the guys who have put their lives on the line get theirs cut?

That's nonsense.

You're a brave and responsible man that could win American Idol if competing in a one-party race against a complete btch.

Where were you in the 1990's?

I was there

The '90's was all about putting a $3,500.00 desktop computer on every desk in the Western world.

this had the exact same impact as the California Gold Strike if 1849: All of the sudden, there were litterally millions of new dollars there for the taking -that no one had forseen. And that last part is the most important: It's only a boom if no one saw it coming. As soon as the bean counters can account for any new revenue stream, they will - and from then on, that new revenue is expected, and only it's subsequesnt removal will be noteworthy.

'tricle down" - ROFL!

The only "trickle down" in the '90's was the blood trickleing down the banker's upper lips from all that coke.

Absolutely correct. The Tech boom was the catalyst that ignited the world's economies. Somehow Reagan.....who had no idea what a computer was... gets the credit.

Know what the new boon will look like? It will be made possible by free energy based on Nikola Tesla's findings. The new boon will be economic freedom but it will only come about when the old unattainable model die it's terrible death. Once the banksters and robber barons are neutered by their failed systems there will rise out of the ashes and carnage a quantum leap in conscientious, a way of living not even imagined as of yet.

Free energy will change everything.

And he did all these things despite advancing Alzheimer's.

BTW He also managed to take the USA from the largest creditor nation in the world to the largest debtor nation in the world, no small accomplishment.
