Between the Pass it On ones and this one

I have never had the urge to drop kick a child but those ads about makes me want to.
(sarcasm for you slower people among us)

I'm totally shocked that subby might take offense to this video. The nerve of the Foundation for a Better Life, suggesting that acting like a decent human being is compatible with keeping it real. What's next: a PSA suggesting that it's not cool to bludgeon and rob this defenseless old woman? How about a PSA suggesting that young male urbanites participate in the raising of their own offspring?

Remember this one from the 80's? Why yes that is Alfonso Riberio, sadly no Carlton Dance.

LOL I love how they reveal he's a billionaire as though they've unmasked a murderer. Then when they reveal he's Christian it's like we caught Jack the ripper! He has MONEY! (gasp) And he's Christian!!!! Is there nothing too low for this villain? Hilarious! Whatever.

It's funny. This morning, when I woke up, if I would have made a list of things I didn't expect to see today - if I would have really put some thought into said list - probably at the top would not have been "someone starting a thread about how super retarded and depressing the Foundation for a Better Life commercials are."

Life throws you curve balls sometimes, you know it?

People that advocate a better life need to be verbally abused, drug out into the street, mugged, stripped naked, spat upon, stoned, tarred and feathered, and then kicked in the nads repeatedly by unruly children. Then made to live with Charlie Sheen.

Ugh. Those dadgum puppies. Makes me ill just thinking about those pathetic cartoonish baby features and that needy little clinginess. Evil pours through those things like an untapped oil well (oil wells are evil too, so thats like exponential evil).

Puppies and butterflies were created by God...who clearly was a megalomaniac gagillionaire.

Form you own opinion but I think it is interesting that such a.....I will just say "full of himself" person was so warm and fuzzy when he created puppies and butterflies.

the guy telling people how they can live a better life is whats depressing. its his duty to tell people what they need to do to live a better life, while trying to oppress the rights of other people and sensor television because apparently we arent capable of doing it ourself?

dont dictate to people how they should, or need, to live their life or what they can do to make it better, it pisses them off.

The commercials I hate with a passion are the political ones. I dont even care who the candidate is. Seeing John Hinkenlooper in a cowboy hat carrying a shotgun is just ****ing ridiculous.

I endorse this ad...obviously. You are in it. You are speaking in it and you are doing the voice over...who else would endorse it?

**** a duck.

Its a hit piece. (edited out following 2 sentences. Did a bit more then cursory research)

I dont love his opposition to gay rights (obviously). People need to realize not everyone you disagree with politically is the devil. BTW, the article lost all credibility for me here :Would it surprise you to know, a Elite Billionare ; Mr. Philip Anschutz has funded this organization since 2000?

but darnit sometimes a line has to be drawn in the sand if you seek to keep rights from people for no good reason other than religion or fear that might just be enough reason for you to be fought against

If you needed to see someone else do a good deed for you to do one, then you aren't a very good person to begin with.

My rights are God given. No man can give them to me or take them away, regardless of their wealth or status or attempts to change the world into how they see it. This cuts both ways. I dont want to be tolerated by force, I dont want to be the topic of fear mongering. I wont, however interfere or get overly upset because someone does not share my view point. Not everyone will. Some people are the way they are, and no appeal to reason or logic will change their opinion.

That's their right.

I guess I'm missing something? I like these ads.

I'm not saying the message isn't a good one. Being kind, etc. It's all good, in theory.

But the commercials themselves (i.e., the execution) are just dumb. And anybody who needs a commercial to tell them to be decent people are never going to actually heed the advice.

I guess I see it differently. There was a commercial a few years ago that showed this lonely-looking Lab, on about a five-foot leash. The whole commercial focused on the dog, while there was a conversation going on in the background between the dog's owners. The concept of the commercial was that your dog wanted to be included in your family, too.

Now, I'm a good dog owner - almost to a point of overkill. But that commercial would always get me. Without exception, I would reach down and stroke my dog's belly, give him a treat, or something similar - every time that thing came on.

I see those "Pass It On" commercials similarly. They don't make bad people good. But they can be good reminders that you need to be a little kinder, more thoughtful, etc.
