My wife thinks Valentine's Day is a cheesy Hallmark Holiday.

She would rather see me surprise her on a random day of the year and not this profit driven holiday.

My girl has been out of dance, ballet/modern etc for a year now since coming to college. She doesn't want to join one of the studio's here since she is rusty. So I was able to get a key to the dance studio at my college, essentially her personal professional level space 3 nights a week.

I think it should go over well :)

Equally-predictable is the Chef-fan "schtick"... every year it's "this Chef player is gonna be the best in the league"... next year it's a different one. And maybe I'm confusing you with Bob... the two of you often sound exactly the same too (as "exactly-the-same" as we ladies do; it's not our fault if you're too lazy to pay attention or figure out which one you're addressing).

The concept isn't that complex, Zach. If you're not expected to differentiate which OM lady you're addressing ("CheekyMonkey" or "Blueflame" or "Sassy" or "Gunns"), then the rest of the Mane shouldn't be expected to differentiate which Chefs fan (you or Bob) we're talking to.

Did they win any playoff games during that timeframe, Zach? (Unlike the 1993-2010 Chefs, yes, they did).

Let me ask you though... what is the ultimate goal of each and every one of the 32 NFL teams going into any new football season? (correct answer is "winning the Super Bowl"). Winning the division is nice... and helps with the ultimate goal of winning the Super Bowl. But very few football fans even remember... much less care... which team wins the division especially if that division winner is one-and-done in the playoffs.

Yeah, well... ask Marino and Elway if "having won a championship" matters. Marino's records will all eventually be broken but having won a SB (or two; back to back) will always be a part of NFL history. And now every professional athlete wants to head into retirement the way John did.

I don't disagree that our team is rebuilding and is currently "nothing to write home about". Hoping for better than 4-12 next season (and that there actually is a 2011 season... no lockout) but won't be surprised if the team still struggles. Rome wasn't built in a day and neither is a winning football team.

Requiem

I don't care what John Elway or Dan Marino think about Super Bowls. I'm sure they think they are great, bet Marino wishes he had one -- and I'm sure when Elway is drunk he loves talking about the famous helicopter run.

At either case, what Elway or Marino think is completely irrelevant to what I stated. I said NFL Fans. The Broncos being Super Bowl Champions all those years ago does not matter in the football dynamic of today. It certainly mattered then. It doesn't now. I've been a Broncos fan since I was a kid. Super Bowls were great. Since then, extremely lackluster outside of 2005. Just like the Chiefs winning in 1969 doesn't matter today.

So I'm not sure what you are trying to prove with your jabbing at Zach and the Chiefs when you root for a franchise who has been blowing the rod and considered irrelevant to most in the NFL for the past half decade.

SB wins do matter to your average NFL fan... maybe not to you personally, but I can guarantee you the Bradshaw-era SB wins matter to Steelers fans, even to those who weren't yet born when those SBs were played. And I can also guarantee you that Zach and/or other Chefs fans would be rubbing our faces in that January 1970 Chefs SB win if the Broncos' trophy case contained no Lombardis like the trophy case in San Diego.

My exchange with Zach? A little harmless rival-fan smack is all. The fact that the Broncos are currently rebuilding has nothing whatsoever to do with the other fact... that the Chefs have not won any playoff games since 1993. As for why I defend the Broncos (even when they are struggling)? Duh. I'm a Broncos fan. Excuse me for thinking homerism and the wearing of the orange-colored glasses was OK and even encouraged on a Broncos fan forum.

Requiem

Of course fans care about the Super Bowls on their own team. I'm talking that no fan from any other team is going to give a hoot whether or not we won Super Bowls in 1997-1998 when trying to form an opinion on the current state of the franchise. The Broncos stink right now. Them being awesome 13-14 years ago. . . does not mattuh.

And I believe the Broncos are going to be very good again.... perhaps sooner than some may think.

I also was not surprised that Chefs' streak of playoff futility remained unbroken... and expect that it will continue a few more years. Their weakness is at QB (IMHO)... Cassel simply isn't all that good.

Have you ever heard a girl queef?

It sucks.

I was playing PG for our junior high basketball squad and we were on a road trip to Pierre, South Dakota and we stopped at a McDonalds.

A few teenage girls were there too, followed the team bus after the games were over. All three of the girls started queefing in symphony as we ate our McD's.

I mean ****. What a way to ruin an appetite, and scar the psyche of a 12-13 year old boy in the process.

And very few fans of the NFL give a **** less that the Broncos won the Super Bowl over a decade ago. Stop living in the past. Right now, our team is dog piss.

I don't give a **** what fan's of the NFL give a **** about. The fact is we did win those back to back SB and been in 6 and very few of those fans can say that. It's a reflection on the franchise and those other NFL fan use it also to assuage a painful current situation. I.E., Pitts fans - we may have lost the SB but at least we were there and we've won more than any other team, Oakland - we've won more SB's than you, SD fans - we've owned you the last few years, and poor KC fans couldn't even say they owned us in our worst year, all they have is we've been in the playoffs more recently than you. I'll take back to back SB's and being in 6 to that.

Hey Crawdad, it was a sweet thought. And you should know by now every thread gets hijacked somehow. Sometimes it is by food, sometimes by boobs, most recently there's been a ton of McDaniels and/or Cutler jacking.

at any rate, the kind thoughts are always appreciated and are a balm in a sometimes board full of insanity. So thank you. -Miss I.:curtsey::egbgb:

Those fans using it to assuage this situation. . . well, that is dumb.

I had an awesome girlfriend a few years ago, but it didn't work out. I don't have one now. Do I think about those good times to make this painful situation go away?

-Ordered a dozen long stem red roses in a custom vase with chocolates and a teddy bear to her work.

-Baking (lol srs) cheesecake brownies (brownies are her favorite), and got some new audiobooks as a present to listen to on the treadmill

-Dinner reservations at Ruth's Chris with a bunch of wine

-Either dancing/massage after dinner

Unless the head coach of the team is from an organization that you dislike, yes? And then those wearing orange colored glasses are told, in essence, to shut up so Blue can have the floor and bitch about the Patriots.

Solid take.

It would've been nice to be a damn good team like the Patriots are in the internet age. But, Denver is not.

My girlfriend hates Valentine's Day, and I love her for it. It's the most contrived pile of crap Holiday out there.
There's nothing wrong with V-Day...it actually offers an opportunity for a smart dude to separate yourself from all the other lame-o losers your wife/SO has encountered. You know...the bozos who run to Walmart the night before and drag in a cheapass bouquet of wilted flowers or do nothing at all. Unfortunately most of these GenX dudes have no style or clue on how to do romance. Cheesy cards, over priced candy and other store bought **** is just that...****. My wife likes to be spoiled and I like to spoil her...the reward is worth it so why not? ;D

I'm taking her to an old fashioned drive in movie tonight in a little town that sitll has one of those theaters, followed by none of your business at points elsewhere. :yayaya:
