I searched for a gaming thread and didn't see one.

Anyone use them? I bought the Turtle Beach X11's and WOW.

They take gaming to a whole new level, everything sounds realistic on Black Ops.

I have Plantronics.

Decent. They are uncomfortable though.

They're not a headset as much as they're headphones, but I have Grado SR125s, and I'll never buy another brand for the rest of my days.

Use a desk-bound microphone and you're set.

As for the 360, I use this:

I have Astro A40's and I love those bad boys. They are expensive but are worth the money if you game as much as I do.

They were the best gaming headset on the market when I bought them, now I'm hearing the Turtle Beach HPA2's are the best ones out right now but they only work with the PC and XBOX 360.

Nice ones, I couldn't spend more than sixty bucks on them.

I really wanted wireless but they'll do for now.

Where those about two hundred dollars?

$269 for the Headset/Mix Amp/Optical cable and another $30 for shipping and handling. I spent $75 on my first headset (Turtle Beach PX21's) and used those for about 6 months and then one of the speakers started going out. I have had the Astro's for over a year now and haven't had any problems with them so far.

Glad I found this thread.

SO.

I had recently been using my bluetooth earpiece for in game chat on the ps3, and I was always a little distracted because I'd have to turn up my tv to compensate for the one ear chat noise. It detracted from the game sound. Began my search, and came to the realization that what I ultimately wanted was a headset that combined the in game sound AND chat capability in a nice comfortable package.

Turtle Beach Earforce DPX21's baby.

I wasn't expecting to pay the 149.99, but let me tell you, it's worth it.

The headphones themselves are EXTREMELY comfortable...lots of supple cushioning around the crown of the head and ears. Sound quality is unreal. I know it's not TRUE 7.1 surround, but with their DSS module it honestly sounds just like the astro's my friend has. Explosions growl, footsteps can be heard in any direction, even sniper shots now have a distinct source that can be turned to and fired upon immediately.
Some really great features that I've discovered so far. Independent volume control, meaning you can turn up either the in game volume OR the chat volume in your cans to better suit your style of gameplay. Chat boost, automatically kicks in after you have your volume set....so let's say you hop in a tank and start getting crop dusted by an apache, OBVIOUSLY the game volume gets exceptionally loud. Well, the chat boost increases the volume of your teamates (and yourself) to compensate, so you never lose out on critical communications. 16 ft cord is absolutely perfect. I wanted to go wireless, but honestly with the clip that the cord comes with there's no need, imo.

I truly cannot get over the surround sound. It's like playing an entirely new library of games. Gunshots sound like gunshots. Planes zoom overhead with incredible realism. There is PLENTY of bass to round out everything. Teamates have commented on the clarity of my voice, and now it sounds like THEY are right next to me. PLUS, you can game into the wee hours with no discomfort AND no complaints for anyone worried about volume.

Now, I've only had these for three days, so I can't speak to their durability...BUT, you can get a warranty from best buy for 2 years 20 bucks.

If you've haven't tried a fully contained chat/in game headset yet, do yourself a favor and check these out.

And ps they're ps3, xbox, pc compatible
