Funny thing is we learned stealth aircraft not that great. If you load up the f-15 with tons of radar in the nosecone it easily can find stealth fighters and kill them. Ground based radar struggles but put a bunch of f-15s in the air and you can spot them. Its just no countries we have used them against have what it takes to come match us in the skies. China may have not needed a stealth aircraft and if it was to thwart USA it was probably a waste of money.

Now it looks like they need to use movies to make it look like it performs.

then why are we mass producing F-22's?

you can shoot an ICBM out of the sky with something less powerful than an ICBM. doesn't mean the ICBM has no use.

and something tells me you're not going to like the result if you send a bunch of jets from the 70's after something newly minted regardless of whether or not they can see them.

The f22 will be important the f-15's are being brought back and refitted because of a design advantage they have over other fighter aircraft. They have a huge nosecone and by aviation standards can carry a significant amount of extra radar.

I don't think the stealth fighters are of much worry to us. I think we are way more worried about the supersonic anti ship missiles designed to kill aircraft carriers.

And of course, you all know about "video news releases" by corporations that look like legitmate news segments by CNN, Fox News, CBS, ABC, and NBC but yet are produced and released solely by the corporations using fake reporters (actors) but look like real segments to the layman while they promote their products to us via the news.

So the next time you view a segment on your local news about identity theft or internet security, you should see what corporation produced it.

But we are WAAAYYY too smart for that kind of propaganda. We aren't the Chinese!

Historically the more open China becomes to the rest of the world, the more China ceases to be one China.

Something has to give.

:Broncos:

China has never been open. They were "opened" by colonial powers... Mongols, Europeans, Americans, Japanese. They don't know what it's like to have a cooperative relationship and are very nationalistic generally speaking. There are some bright spots... but bright spots have been extinguished in dark places before.

I think the notion that China will continue to be a willing partner is only true so long as they have to... if they get on top they will do their best to dominate in ways the US wouldn't think of. We're seeing a massive amount of hubris on their part and they're finally being forced to step back a bit. The question is... for how long? It already seems like the military is operating on its own terms. I can think of another Asian historical parallel there.

That's my take.

Very funny but are you comparing a state run media to a network? Puhleeeeeaze! See, when a network gets caught fabricating a story, other networks can call them out on it. What person or company can come out and call out China while still inside China? Big difference.

J-20: 75' length, 45' wingspan
F-22: 62' length, 44.5' wingspan
F-35: 51.5' length, 35' wingspan (one version will be carrier based, so must be smaller)

From what I've read, the J-20 is not an Air Superiority Fighter, but a ground attack/force projection platform. It's designed for range and payload, and it's thrust/weight ratio makes it essentially useless as a dog fighter. It'll get it's ass whupped in a dogfight even with what will be 50 year old F-15s.

And the F-15 pilots will be hungry for battle against within an hour.

Yep the first time some country loses a big expensive plane, or ship, becuase some drone being flown by a guy who grew up playing ps3 and xbox shot them with a missile from a drone that costs a million or so bucks compared to a fighter jet that is 15 million or more.

Maybe even cheaper. It would not be cool to even have to face drones, robots, unmanned vehicles etc because its disheartening to be killed, but not have a chance to kill.

Terminator type soldiers probably be around in next 20-30 yrs or something.

I don't really see any reason any of the superpowers would have to nuke one another. It just doesn't make since. If a conventional war broke out, and one side was losing badly, then maybe. But all sides know that so they don't even start. I think the only really negative is we can no longer get a free ride protection Japan, S Korea, and obviously Taiwan.

Really though what issue would make all the dead worth fighting China for, vice versa them for us?

No one is going to park off anyones coast and launch a nuclear attack. Maybe a rouge nation but not any of the superpowers.

I do sometimes worry Pakistan and India could hate each other enough to do it.

Also I guess N korea and Iran but I even doubt those regimes would want to actually do it. More then likely they just want the power that comes with it.

China does not want war with the US, at least not until they are sure they can win. China is the land Sun Tzu came from. "Be vague to the point of formlessness". I imagine when China's economy starts to slow (which it will) to the point of civil unrest, their central government will grow increasingly nationalistic and xenophobic. If it gets bad enough, the Chinese will project their problems on a foreign power...probably the US.

Geographically, China is fairly isolated. Have the himalayas and the gobi desert to the west, tundra to the north, jungle and mountains to their south. They also have a huge wealth disparity between the coast and the interior. Also a future demographic problem because they have too many men and not enough women. In my not an expert opinion, China will be forced to make hard decisions, and historically they withdraw from the world when difficulties happen.

But things change. Simply because they have these natural barriers around them does not mean they cant be aggressive, especially in Siberia. (100 mil chinese, 8 million ruskies in a border area...not good for Russia). So we will see. The US needs to act in its own interests in regards to China. We buy alot of their ****, and because we need them now we put up with grandstanding. Eventually we wont need them the way they need us, and that relationship will change things in the Pacific Rim.

The Chinese are now running short on women because their culture has systematically practiced infanticide for the last 30 or so years. I say, let them pay for their stupid ways.

All cultures that try to limit population end up paying for their mistakes (generally oppressive countries, and the good ole US of A which uses abortion as a form of birth control).

China is gonna pay for their infanticide is spades.
