a 97 Acura Integra. I had that while I was in collage. I didn't do anything to it other than put gas in it and changed the oil. Had some great memories in that car and it never gave me 1 problem. I have since upgraded and have a "better" car but I think the old Integra still has the crown of favorite car.

Here is another shot of mine in action. Check out how high the mud falls are.

Learned a very valuable lesson on this run. Make sure your shifter boot is bolted down before hitting the mud hole a 40. I put about 50 gallons of mud in my truck on this one.

I've had my 1999 Toyota 4Runner for 5 years. When I got it it had 200,000 km on it, and now it has 270,000, and I drove it across Canada(5500 km) at the end of this summer.

I've never taken it into the shop for a mechanical problem.

My 1983 Saab 900 will always hold a special place in my heart. It didn't go very fast (topped out around 90), but it handled like superbly and held up like a beast through all the abuse I put it through (running into brick walls, off roading it in the mountains, failing to put the parking break on when it was on a steep drive way and watching it role into a boulder). I really wish I had known better when I was a teenager and taken care of that car.

The sweetest thing I have ever driven was the 2007 Corvette Z06. I took a 90 degree turn going 65 in that thing and the car reacted as if it were no big deal. I will have one someday, oh yes, she will be mine.

You mean during the dyno run I take it? No, the run was made prior to me having the converter tightened for the new combo that I put in the car. Converter was originally setup for a supercharged 351w so it needed rebuilt for my combo.

Car is daily driven, pump gas, 15lbs boost 67mm turbo on a 'small' 306 with ported heads. C4 with brake, etc..... pretty fun car.

Right now it's torn apart and we're installing a 370" LSx (yes, Chevy engine) with an 88mm turbo. Hoping to hit the 800-900rwhp mark and run some low 9's.

The red convertible mustang in the last video is a buddy of mine, 410" 91mm turbo runs 8.20's@158+ - street car ugg.

The Jaguar CX75. A 780 hp mostly-electric supercar capable of hitting 250 mph with a whopping 500-mile range, all wrapped in a body inspired by the 1966 XJ13, the car the chief designer calls "possibly the most beautiful Jaguar ever made."

The car is powered exclusively by battery for the first 68 miles (the Volt gets about 40 miles, for comparison) and is then boosted by two small gas turbines. These turbines provide about 94 hp each, for a range of about 500 additional miles (the Volt's teeny gas engine nets about 300 extra miles). Those turbines work independently and can refill the electric batteries as well.

Remember... street legal also means emission legal, including passing a sight test (Headers are not legal in the state of California), sound/noise legal, meeting DOT crash ratings as well. Try putting what YOU consider street legal on the streets of Los Angeles and see what happens.
Again, putting together what is really a state, 100% street legal sub 10 second street car is next to impossible to obtain.

PS: This is CBF1 using Chica's computer.... somehow got logged out and switched over.

CBF1, a LOT of things have changed in the last two or three Years-8 seconds in a street legal Car is very doable-heck, there are guys with EPA legal bolt-ons going 10's (and 9's) in mostly stock '11 Mustangs (in CA)-

Not all of us live in Commiefornia.

Collectors plates bypasses emissions around here for those of us with cars under 25yrs old. Turbo cars are very quiet so noise issues aren't valid. We don't have DOT inspectors that check plated cars chassis around these parts? That being said, all of these cars are certified down to 8.50's, with a couple of them having 25.5 chassis in them. I'm pretty sure they would pass a standard driver car inspection for crash ratings if we had a nazi style DOT office here.

Tell you what, I know of a lot of cars in Commiefornia that run in the 8's and are still street legal for CA. I'll post up some links and you can still live in 1980 when 10 second street cars were unheard of. Nowadays, they're a dime a dozen.

For roughly 5k you can run 10's all day long, on DOT approved street tires, thru factory cast iron manifolds and using pump gas and STILL GET 20+MPG doing it.

Has to be four wheel drive and the ability to maneuver around in the harsh North Dakota winters. I'm open to pretty much anything. I'd prefer something with decent gas mileage. I was thinking a truck or an SUV, but insurance would probably be more.

Any suggestions on a good first vehicle?

I'd second that notion. I've owned three different soobies, and they've all been great cars. How much were you lookin to spend? The entire legacy line is great, and you can find used ones on the cheap. Easy to maintain, just need to feed them oil. They're also extremely easy to work on. Super reliable, long lasting, and great in the elements. If you're up north, id say get a nice set of winter tires and you'll be golden

you would Hilarious!

Every person I've ever known to own one of those little pieces of shiat had serious CV joint problems. Cost a fortune to fix btw. More than the cars worth in some cases.

I drive a diesel hogging large pickup truck, so I have no direct experience with Subaru maintenance. But I know a couple of people who are really happy with their Subarus precisely for the reasons Req stated in his ideal car.

Also, I wouldn't be so sure on the insurance. Make sure you do a LOT of checking around, I actually saved a bunch of money switching to Geico (seriously) from progressive...like 60 bucks a month. My buddy just bought a 2007 gmc sierra (sweet truck btw), and his insurance was cheaper than mine. A lot of your insurance costs will come through things like: how expensive it is to fix, how much damage it'll cause to OTHER vehicles in an accident, theft in your area (nd probably isn't as bad as a say downtown l.a.), engine size/power, YOUR driving record, etc.

Before you make your final purchase, check around with different companies and find out what they'd quote you. A truck or suv might be cheaper than you think!

My favorite motor vehicle of all time was a Suzuki DS 80cc motorcycle. My dad bought it for me when I was seven years old. We lived in Broomfield at the time he bought it, and I just dreamed not-stop about riding that bike sitting in the garage. When we went camping, he strapped that thing onto the back of the motor home. I was up at first light and rode that sucker till dark every chance I had.

Not sure what my price limit will be, I know that by May, I'd probably have enough saved up to put $2,000 down on any vehicle I was looking to purchase.

Ummm, I don't know who your friends are, but they were getting raped. CV joints ARE known to go out on subies, but I could give you the number of 5 different shops right now that would get you out the door for under $250. You can do it yourself with hardly ANY unique tools (except maybe an axle puller, if there's rust), and a refurbished one for like 100 bucks.

Nice man, that's a good chunk of change for a used car! Depending on what kind of payments you can afford, think of that two grand down as basically 40 bucks a month off of a payment. Each grand you put down equals roughly 20 bucks or so. Obviously credit score and the price of your car are going to factor into it, but if your credit's DECENT you could probly get into a 10-13000 car for $200-$300 bucks a month. As you get closer to purchase time, feel free to hit me up with any questions...I really like helping people with car shopping haha, and I have a lot of mechanic/banker friends that can give you some great advice!

I drive a diesel hogging large pickup truck, so I have no direct experience with Subaru maintenance. But I know a couple of people who are really happy with their Subarus precisely for the reasons Req stated in his ideal car.

I didin't mean to come off like a dick. I'll admit that I litterally have a physical reaction to the word Sub-a... hell I'm not even going to say the word. My wife owned one of those brats in the early 90's. I put over a grand into the front end of that thing. What a piece of crap!

Then a few months later I was driving the thing on the FWY in SoCal and the wheel locked up on me. Lucky I didn't roll the thing. Then I'm stuck there with no side lane with cars wizzing by so close one guy took the little mirror clean off. That's just one story. My buddy in his suby wagon almost got killed when his front wheel litteraly snapped off.

So no... I'm not a fan of these cars.

But to be fair, I don't know what the new ones are like.

But to be fair, I don't know what the new ones are like.

My mother owes her life to her Suburu. Literally. She could do a commercial for them. She was broad-sided by a red-light-runner and the car looked like it fell off a cliff. If you saw the car, you'd assume there was no way she lived. She had a cracked rib and a minor concussion.

She bought another one, and was hit again, not as bad... but bad, and came off without a scrape. My step dad drives one and my dad just bought a new one.

They're all huge fans, and the cars regularly rate out as some of the safest and most reliable. Priced decent, too.

My mom is now driving a Prius after racking up a couple hundy on her Suburu. She wanted a better mileage car. But, she's had more problems with it than she did the Suburu.

I love my 2002 BMW 325i, I have a great mechanic who works out of his house garage with his own Matco lift. I am planning on getting 250k out of it and hoping it is both of the kids 1st car in another 8 years. It rides just as nice as it did pulling it off the lot, knock on wood.

But this is reality when you are married with kids.... My 1959 Coupe De Ville. Classic American car used as storage space. When I bought new doors for the house, the entry to the garage door (from our laundry room) cost $400 extra to swing in instead of out so it wouldnt hit the car. It takes up almost every inch from one end to the other. This thing is literally a boat.

Not sure what my price limit will be, I know that by May, I'd probably have enough saved up to put $2,000 down on any vehicle I was looking to purchase.

This is what I would do. Take your $2000 and buy a beater. Something practical and reliable. Pay yourself the car payment you would pay a bank for 12 to 18 months, $300/month x 12= $3600 plus the sale of your beater which is likely still worth $1800 for a total of $5400 toward a newer vehicle. Do the same for 18 months and you can buy a $10,000 vehicle. Repeat as desired.

In 30 months you can buy a 10,000 vehicle with your own money, pay less for insurance and see what you like and dislike about 2 other vehicles. No need to get tied down to 3-6 years worth of car payments for a car you may or may not like IMO.

It's pretty much a toss up between the Hayabusa and ZX14 right now - I've seen people argue both ways but the difference between the true top speed of the 2 bikes is maybe 2 MPH and from what I know they have basically identical 1/4 times.

Can't go wrong with either one in my opinion, but I love my bike =).

Not sure of the year cause I don't really know much about jeeps but I know it's a "scrambler" whatever that means.

He found it sitting in some old mans barn off the side of the interstate one year and just ask what he would take for it... I came with a 350 in it and had a extra motor which I guess was what was in it originally but it's old and cool looking and mean as hell.

This was a car I always wanted, the awesome 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL gullwing:

28017

With a top speed of 160 mph, and roots as a road racer, and just being plain pretty, it's still one of the baddest cars on the road.

My 1970 Gran Torino. Ran until 1995. A beauty.

Also loved my Volkswagen, also in the early 70's. Ran great in the snow.

One of my favorites:

Is that the EVO that Top Gear raced a ski'er down hill on? I have heard great things about those EVO's.

Yeah, same one, I'm sure they had some heavy duty snow tires on the thing though. It's a fun car for sure, can't wait to save up money to tune it though, stock they are about 300 hp and tq, with intake and exhaust and a tune it'll make about 350 to the wheels or about 400 at the crank.

C5 Z06 was the other car I was seriously looking at, 400 N/A hp, weighs almost nothing and looks like a supercar should, just couldn't swing it as a daily driver in Green Bay, WI, one of the other posters had a red one on here a couple pages ago that looked gorgeous.

Hippie, BS. Look at the ground clearance on that thing! I could roll over Charles Manson and Abbie Hoffman no problem, wouldn't even need chains.

If any of you GM guys need tuning let me know - he owns PCMForLess, they tune Mario Andretti's cars along with some GM corporate cars as well.

I love how this thread went from cars that we actually own/owned to fantasy cars that we would own if we won the lottery. Sheeeesh, back on topic with actual vehicles we own please.

Yeah, well, the GS300 I have now is a nice machine. I like it because it's the last straight six produced other than from BMW. Plus, it's a superb competitor for sport sedans.

I'm wondering what my next sedan will be.

Beautiful boat, great looking tow setup you have to go with it. I need to graduate out of my 2 jet skis and get a boat.

my favorite ride that I've owned would be my current 08 Evolution:

http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd13/omnikron1307/104_0273.jpg

before that I had a beater camry that was a workhorse and a 240sx convertible:

http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd13/omnikron1307/nicosig.jpg

favorite dream ride would have to be either a Koenigsegg CCR or a Ferrari 599fx (the racing one), I pretty much love any car that is well built and fast

Those Evo's are pretty badass, seems to me. Kind of entry level badass, but badass nonetheless.

EVO's are awesome cars

My buddy Trent (I know, I seem to have a lot of them in this hobby) used to work and drive for Dave at Buscher racing. Here's a video of Trent driving one of the customers EVO's at the track during a record run....against none other than me :)

If you're into EVO's chances are you know Buscher Racing here in Cleveland Ohio.

Probably my 91 Toyota Surf. I didn't own it too long since it was a piece, but I loved the capability of it. I would just toss my surfboards into the thing and take off. Now I have to put them in my passenger seat (a damn hassle sometimes).

If they send me back to the states, I am going to look at getting a 2011 Subaru Impreza STi.

It has always been a dream car of mine.

The boat is a 2008 247 Malibu. Quite simply the most fun you can have with your family. It was worth every penny.

For bikes, here's a favorite:

The awesome 1979 Honda CBX. 1050CC, I6, six carbs, 102 HP, six speed, 24 valve, 8200 redline, unmistakable engine note. If you hear a bike that sounds like a Ferrari, it's a CBX. 30 mpg was a drawback, but it had a big tank so the range was about 170 miles.

I had the 750cc version of that bike. It had the quad carburetors on it and I never could keep them in sink.. Other then that I like it a lot.

The CB750 4? I had one of those also. You need a carburetor synchronizer and have to synch them up often.

Also, you have to make sure the accelerator pumps are in good shape, a common problem with multi-carb engines. One or two bad seals/diaphragms, a clog in the accelerator pump fuel line, and the performance drops drastically.

Carburetors are always a problem, basically. Multi-carb engines are of course multiple problems. Pretty high-maintenance.

That bike is why Honda built the CBX.

The trouble with those KZ's was the flat seat. You were hanging on for your life with your ass sliding backward as the bike went forward.

You are right, and I did change the Seat-it was nothing like riding my H2 though! You spent more time on the back wheel than on two-
