Pat Bowlen's going to make the official announcement that Fox is the coach, glad to see Bowlen will be up in front of the media again even if it's just for a short bit.

Don't tell me the conference hasn't started. I've heard that before.

Kaylore

Elways thanking everyone and thinks everyone they interviewed will be a head coach some day.

Saying he's excited about Fox. "We got our guy. A Dynamic leader who has energy. Did a lot of research and found nothing negative on him."

"Most of all after 15 hours, the thing I got was his football wisdom which I think is a combination of being a lot of different places, being under coaches and all his experience. Got a lot of texts from his players talking about how much they like him."

Kaylore
01-14-2011, 12:04 PM
Now Bowlen:

I also spent time with John, not as much as Elway. Unique qualities. Has what it takes to turn this organization around. Looking forward to getting season started and John doing his job.

Smiling Assassin27
01-14-2011, 12:05 PM
bowlen seemed wholly uninterested and late for a skeet shooting obligation or something.

Bowlen looked sickly, like he could fall over backwards at any moment.

Kaylore
01-14-2011, 12:09 PM
Fox:

"Those two guys are why I'm standing here. Honored to be your head football coach of Denver Broncos. I've admired from afar even as former division rivals."

"Storied franchise. Great fanbase. Been on wrong side of games. Very enthusiastic to bring back that fan interest, and winning ways. This game is only fun when you win. Thinks this organization is class staring with Bowlen."

"Lots of years with different owners and Bowlen is respected around league. His success speaks to itself. I'm here to add another ring and trophy."

On Bailey:

"Have a lot of respect for Champ Bailey. Great player, no question. Held in respect around the year. A little hard to say right now. Schedule is fluid. Will do everything to get best human talent on the field. Too early to say right now."

Tebow:

"Great privilege to interview him during draft at dinner. Talked to him and he's real excited. Viewed some tape of them. He has work to do. He knows it. One thing I'll say: He'll do whatever it takes. As good intagibles as any athlete. Nothing but upside moving forward."

Smiling Assassin27
01-14-2011, 12:11 PM
Fox didn't wanna take a stab at pronouncing Greek's last name..lol

Kaylore
01-14-2011, 12:11 PM
On prejudices toward veterans:

"I'm prejudiced for good football players. I wanted to get John out of retirement, but I think I like any good football players."

On defense:

"Too early to say. Still in process. There is work to be done and in bottom third statistically. Working on that right now."

On other places:

"Here because I'm competitive. Wanted to be somewhere competitive and that's why he liked the Broncos."

i dont think we'll end up finding out if we're running a 3-4 or the 4-3 until we see what players we pick in the draft. I don't think they want to give away any draft plans and with a defense up in the air we could currently go either way and take any defensive player

footstepsfrom#27

Fox gushing over Elway and how long he's known him, respect etc...obviously this was a level playing field.

Kaylore
01-14-2011, 12:15 PM
On 3-4, 4-3:

"I believe in using the talent that fits and right now this is more a 3-4 team. A lot of it is about spacing and the positions and this could be a fluid situation based on who they bring in."

My boss asked me about some stuff and missed some.

On history rebuilding:

"Some similarities between here and Carolina. They had second pick too. It's going to be hard and exciting going forward."

sorry guys. I got work to do and can't finish.

Leadership style not dictatorship. Wants to involve other voices and will help them have a stake in their success.

IIRC,

The Bills and Panthers were the other teams during the draft process that expressed a lot of interest in Tebow. I was certain those were the two teams we jumped because of their interest in taking him in round two.

Fox likened Tebow to Kosar in an article I read @ MHR the other day. I think with the running game he wants to bring here, it will be the best in development of Tebow. He can get a lot of things rolling that way and improve on situations he doesn't have that much experience in.

Wish there would have been a stronger answer on the defense, but I assume more will be known once assistant coaches are brought in, they evaluate what is here and then can decide.

I do. I love the pick. The defense should have been addresses from teh inside out after Shanny was let go.

Fox loves the DLine and we are set up to get some good players to help fill this need area

Plus Fox can generate turnovers without the smoke and mirrors of Coyer's D in '05

Yeah its good to get a great coach but I don't see why it is so hard to say if your running a 3-4 or 4-3?

I can't believe all the negativity in this thread.

Some people wouldn't know a good thing if it kicked them in the balls.

How could a "good thing" involve a kick in the balls?

Its only a kick in the balls if you're a McDumbfuc nut hugger.

Sorry.

Look, I'm not sold on Fox. But I'm going to give hime the 1.5 years that I gave Mcfucface. If they play like they did this pass year and a half. I'll ask for Fox's head too.

I predict massive nosebleeds from the dry air. Expect him to be carted off the field with a mass of towels over his nose at some point during the season.

I went to Virginia on business last year and spent a couple of weeks in that damp, warm climate. When I got back, I was sniffling for days.

my guess is to keep others from knowing what we might be targeting in the draft, sure we'll most likely get our pick at number 2 overall, but we don't want to tip off what type of players we might be trying to get with our 2nd round picks or even if theres a guy we might want to move back into the first for. If they don't know if were running a 4-3 or a 3-4 it becomes much more difficult to suspect what we'll go after.

True. Fox impressed me because he wanted this job badly. He's looking at this job like a can't miss opportunity.

What kind of good thing would kick me in the nackers?

Ah, this has been addressed lol!

Fox uses the word "fluid" almost as much as Shanny used the word "special".

Too funny.

It would be kinda stupid to commit right now.

Absolutely. He came across as a smart, experienced NFL head coach. He handled the questions properly and acted with class and integrity. He is an old school, blocking and tackling, "it ain't rocket science" kind of guy. EXACTLY what this franchise needs.

Southeast Virginia - the asthma and allergy capital of the world. When I head out west, it about kills me for a few days because I am so used to the humidity here. Work up a sweat going to the mailbox.

Bowlen looked sickly, like he could fall over backwards at any moment.

Maybe he fell off the wagon...again?

I am more interested in what Fox has to say.

Fox was the best choice of the 2nd tier guys that we had a chance at. Want to see him get his coordinators in place. Don't like McCoy staying...though having some consistency there is going to be good for Tebow.

Hope Fox spends his first few months rebuilding the O and D lines. We'll know if we have a solid coach if he does...

The Broncos have not been the same since McCaffery broke his leg. It is a cosmic thing. The very next day 911 happened and it's been a roller coaster ever since.

When I was watching Shanahan build the Broncos it was exciting. I understood what he was doing and win or lose I liked what I saw. I think we have to see what Fox DOES know and go from there.
