I can't find a link, but I have a buddy who I work with who's a Raiders fan. He said Fox was run off the team by Al Davis who didn't like his zone concepts. Apparently Fox told him in no uncertain terms what he thought about his advice and Fox was fired. So you probably won't need to get our new coach up for the Raiders game. :wiggle:

And there's no bad blood like the used-to-work-for-Al-Davis bad blood.

Wasn't he only a coach there for like a few weeks before he was fired?

I found this...Al Davis interviewing defensive coordinators while Fox was defensive coordinator, and then hiring the guy he interviewed as special teams coach and keeping Fox...

Much like the offense without Jeff Hostetler, the defense withered over the season's final six games. The Raiders allowed 15.3 points per game in their Good Team phase; they permitted 29.8 per game during The Collapse.
That included the final two games against Seattle and Denver. The Raiders needed only one victory to reach the playoffs -- and they surrendered 75 points, losing twice.
Holy ****, that sounds familiar.

Maybe Fox will have Brady Quinn throw a ball at Al's head during the warm ups before the game. That would really bring this around 360... that, and dominating the Raiders.

Anyone know if the faiders defense got any better after Fox left? 1996, that was a while ago, when the Broncos were steam rolling the competition and Shanny was putting a smack down on the faiders. I can't really remember too much about the faiders at that time. They must of brought in Gruden around this time frame??

In 1995, the defense was 10th in points, 11th in yards. In 1996, the year that Fox resigned as DC in August before the season, the Raiders finished 8th in points, 8th in yards. But, in 1997, the Raiders were 28th in points, 30th in yards. Gruden was brought in in 1998. His defenses didn't give up a ton of yards, but they gave up a lot of points, 20th in points, 5th in yards.

So, under Fox they were a Top 12 defense, and the players he was preparing to coach in 1996 ended up being a Top 10 defense. They were 8-8 in 1995, 7-9 in 1996.

I'm thinking that it's not all the uncommon to have bad blood with davis...

A little unnerving that the players sorta threw Fox under the bus when he resigned in Oakland. That was a long time ago though.

What else would you expect from Raiders?

He's kind of like the Anti-Tebow. They say you can't meet Tebow and not like him. Al Davis is the opposite of that.

This is why Tom Cable should be brought in, in some capacity.

Then I guess Shanny forgot about the money he was owed by the time the late 2000s came around.

This article is closer to the way I remember this whole thing. I believe greasy Al was meddling in Fox's business like he likes to do, and Fox said "screw this, I'm out of here", and he promptly resigned.

Tells me alot about him that he is one of the few assistants that had the heuvos to stand up to greasy Al and walk out on him.

I am perfectly OK with Cable as OL coach. I think that would be a real good hire for Fox.

LONG LIVE AL DAVIS!!!!!!!!!! As long as that Shmo is around, he will keep screwing up the faiders everytime they start building a head of steam. He consistantly fires coaches every time they start to gel, which is awsome for us! Long live Al!
