"Fox, 55, spent the last nine seasons as Carolina's coach, going 73-71 and winning five of eight games in three trips to the playoffs. The Panthers were coming off a 1-15 season when he took over in 2002 and led them to a 7-9 mark in his first year before guiding them to the Super Bowl in his second season."

By far the best out of the choices we had. One positive is he has been coaching a long time, and is older, this will help him have more choices for assistants. How many 50 yr old long time NFL assistants really want to work for a 35 yr old? Probably not as many and would like to have a more mature boss.

We should end up with a lot of good assistant coaches.

I'm dying to find out how transparant Broncos will be with the draft pick interviews, combine stuff. It would be crazy to tip there hand but even funnier if John was doing this all just to be sneaky. I sort of hope so. I'm not sure I like being to honest with the fans.

The combine will be here before you know it.

The more I think about the hire the more I like it. He's the perfect coach for a rebuilding phase. More defensive minded, likes to run the ball, enough experience to handle losing, or winning. IMO the way Mcdaniels acted those first 6 games he won was sort of ridiculous. Especially the Pats meltdown. Hell Shanny didn't even do that after the superbowl wins lol.

I see Fox as the type of coach that will make the most out of his team from the players that are provided him. If he is provided good players, he will likely maximize their potential on the field.

Also, from a credibility standpoint, Fox has it.

Overall, probably the smartest move considering the circumstances. And, actually, may work out beautifully if the Broncos brass can deliver good players to Fox.

That really is the key. Let's hope that the "three-legged stool" can make that happen. We also need to make the most of the resources we have now (our current roster), rather than piddling it all away because "it doesn't fit the system".

Really Mcdaniels failed at turning our roster into a 3-4 roster. It still is more suited to a 3-4. Also no reason guys like Bannan and Williams can't play a little bit in a 4-3. If not it's not like they are high priced or draft picks. We didn't really draft any true 3-4 defenders.

Even in his losing seasons he's only been just so at 7-9. Not that I'm looking forward to 7-9, but after 4-12, I'm looking forward to 7-9. I think he can get us respectable again in the next five years and we'll probably never have a just awful team.

This is a solid hire. John Fox is a very good coach and he can make the right call on what defensive system they need to implement and then make it work. I just hope he can lure some solid assistant coaches and Coordinators. That is where the real work has to be.

I have to say, very impressed with the hire overall. He was the best of the candidates to do a rebuild, had solid chemsitry with the FO, and have a plan.

Welcome Coach Fox and good luck! Just do not read this mess of over emotional fans please ;D

This is what I said in another thread prior to hiring him. He's had Carolina competing in a strong division (two SB winners in his time there and his team made it to a third, with ATL the #1 seed in the NFC this year). This despite ownership not spending on any key free agents and some of his best players being allowed to walk.

Compared to that the AFC West should feel like a cupcake division.

In 2009 his Panthers when 8-8 despite playing UFA Matt Moore after Delhomme threw 8 TDs to 18 INTs. That's incredible. To get to .500 pretty much exclusively by running the ball and playing defense.

Good hire for the Broncos. Always been a fan of Fox and hate it that you guys have him. He's very experienced and he knows how to build programs and make a good defense.

I expect Nick Fairley to be in a Broncos uniform next season.

John Fox was the right choice for head coach.

I'm impressed that Elway went that route instead of the easier and nepotistic route of Rick Dennison.

It shows that Elway is capable of thinking outside the confines of Dove Valley.

The team needs someone who has been there before and is experienced.

With John Elway and Brian Xanders lacking a lot of experience, the team needed a head coach who has been to the rodeo a few times.

Of the candidates Denver interviewed, they made the right choice.
