Lets say there is a lockout this year and no football is played. What happens to the 2012 draft? How would the order be determined? Would we get the #2 pick again?

The apocalypse?

The Mayan calendar ends on dec 21, 2012. No one knows what it means. A recent documentary suggests the chinese will build a fleet of arcs but only the uber rich or genetically successful will be allowed to populate the planet after a massive flood envelops the earth.

Its science.

Says here Rick Dennison goes 0-14 and is fired with four games left in the season.

Here's an interesting point: Our calendar ends Dec 31, 2012.

See? Aliens do exist. They buried a code in our DNA that will save us during the 10 day stretch from Dec 21 to Dec 31...

Clever, those little bigheaded freaks.

This question's been posed before several times...nobody seems to know, and the NFL oddly, hasn't answered the question as far as I know. But it would be uber sweet if we were to get the #2 all over again.

Has the NFL said so?

What else could they do? It's the only answer, really...

By the way, the NFL would never comment on this question until the lockout was a certainty.

They could go to a weighted lottery like the NBA does, which would suck.

Hmmm... Wouldn't that give us a decent shot at #1 overall though?

This is common knowledge. The draft in 2012 will be decided by alphabetical order.

The more important question would be how many thousands of people would lose their jobs if there's no NFL in 2011.

I didn't read all the answers so maybe this is late. But everyone knows the new nfl will all be played on madden football so as no one gets hurt.

I think there will be a season this year. All the arguing points boil down to a rookie cap and 2 more games. Dont see the players NOT caving over this. Doesnt matter how much they make, these guys are not liquid and spend every dime they make...the majority anyway.

The had a weighted lottery with the NHL when this very thing happened 04-05. Lockout, had the draft, no one played so that year so they had a weighted lottery and another draft.

It was different, though. Teams were assigned more balls based on how they did over the last three seasons, not just the previous one. Playoff appearances and other factors were considered awarding or removing balls accordingly. Then the draft went like a fantasy draft where the last pick got to pick immediately again and the first pick had to go last in round two.

I wouldn't be surprised if they used some elements of this model in these cases.

They wouldnt comment on it until the season is lost and they've come to an agreement on the new CBA.

This is one of last things on the NFL's mind right now.

I don't think there is a chance in hell the season will be cancelled. But if there were, I wish they weren't even having this year's draft. The 14 round, 2 draft class draft in 2012 would have been sweet.

They will have a contest about which majority owner has the longest dick, the city of Green Bay owning the Packers will claim that as majority owners they get to add their dicks together, and because there is no CBA the move is allowed, but they still end up with the 2nd pick behind the Patriots.

Not with Xanders, it wouldn't be.
