Oh I can kick that George's butt with the music of my childhood and adolescence and occasionally still listen to both Wham (I still love Wake me Up before you go go) and Rick Astley (tho now with the Rick Roll I find it much more difficult). the 80s have a plethora of guilty music pleasures I suspect...

But here's my secret shame...

Enya.

Its rather simple, new-agey Irish music that sounds straight out of folklore.

I fully expect to find out that her music is played by elves and fairies on magical instruments. And thats why it is somewhat embarrassing. Ha!

Actually country singing is harder than traditional singing because they use the voice as more of a full blown instrument.

answering honestly...

i'm embarrased to say that i like the Beastie Boys. some of their stuff at least. i despise rap and hip hop and that whole culture, but the Beastie Boys do have some catchy tunes with a punk attitude, so maybe that's why i like them.

then there are always the occasional songs from artists that i would never, ever listen to that just happens to be catchy. i can't think of them all, but an example would be that "ray of light" song from Madonna a few years back. i can't stand her music or her and find her repulsive, but that's still a catchy song. she had one back in the 80's from a movie i liked as well... "live to tell" or some such.

but when it comes to putting a CD in to play in the background, i still prefer the old standbys like Bob Marley or New Order or Bryan Ferry or Echo & the Bunnymen, etc...

embarassing:

yeah didnt she date a baseball player and a basketball player at some point. ;D

if by "date", you mean "shagged", then it would probably be easier to list all the people she DIDN'T date. that's a much shorter list. :yayaya:

Erasure are so bad that they annoy me.

Annie Lennox though...that chick is awesome. The first time I noticed that you can mimic real life sounds with instruments was in her song "Walking on Broken Glass", where the piano melody featured throughout the song is "broken" and "sharp" and arranged in a way that sounds disorganized like walking on broken glass...very delicate, lively footsteps. Brilliant stuff...and they knew it too...its the featured instrument part in the song. Thanks for the muse, Annie.

Yep, me too. I wanted to hate everything about Gaga, but her music is pretty good. Ke$ha makes me laugh, and I'm down with that. Nicki Minaj has some pretty entertaining collaborations, too.

The translation to what they are saying in that will literally make you want to shoot yourself .

Number one princess in the world
I know that, so
You are my
Bride

Number 1 Always notice my different hair styles.
Number 2 Look at me from head to toe.
Got that?
Number 3 For everything I say,
reply with at least three words.
If you understand, then do something about
my lonely right hand!

Now then, our hands are empty, so shall we hold our hand?
Acting like that, I know you're just pretending to be tough
So don't worry about it
You are cute today as you are any day

Number one princess in the world
Any request? OK, OK
I'll be there in a minute so don't miss me so much
Who do you think I am?
I am your knight
(Hold that, I know), your pudding is
In the fridge.

Complaint, giving words too, they won't do a thing
That's all she has
Oh! What was that dress she wanted?
Huh? What? White horsey?
(I guess that's the way it goes)
Let me take your hand
A merry-go-round
Will you take this for now, please my princess?

Acting like that, I know you are just pretending to be tough
Well. If you say that much, I'll poke you 2, 3 time, OK?
Your own prince in the world
It's out of my pattern(=character) though
It's not bad actually
You beloved as this much
Someday, look
I believe that you will realize it
...about you?
....everything about you?
I don't understand
... I guess I never will be (because you are such wonder)

A shortcake with strawberry on top
A meltingly delicious pudding by well-selected eggs
Left sleeping(=untouched) in the fridge
This one's giving me a sign
Yes, you can do it if you try
So I'll be prepared
Of course ! Because you are

My own princess in the world
I'll be sure to watch you, so
You don't need to go anywhere
At times, by your side I'll hold you gently
"You'll get run over. It's dangerous"
It's a bit embarrassing so I'm covering up but
...you're rather driven-over(=attracted) to such me, right?

When we got married my wife had these great synth pop cd's that I couldnt understand why I never heard of the group. I asked the guys at work and they told me Eraser was a gay band.

I still like the synths though I dont blast them when alone in my car in city traffic.

Enya.

Its rather simple, new-agey Irish music that sounds straight out of folklore.

I fully expect to find out that her music is played by elves and fairies on magical instruments. And thats why it is somewhat embarrassing. Ha!

Not ashamed to listen to Enya at all.

Listen to it at work all the time. Soothing as hell when these ****ing idiots stress me out.

Taylor Swift, I have found that I can sing loudly to her songs very easily when nobody else is home.

I like to go back and listen to some oldies classics now and then. Don't know why but this song just has some kind of weird hook to it. You can't stop listening to it once it starts. It was quite popular though. It's been sampled a million times over.

Lady Gaga

I am really ashamed to admit, but i think this chick is hot and has some good catchy tunes.

<iframe title="YouTube video player" class="youtube-player" type="text/html" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/qrO4YZeyl0I" frameborder="0" allowFullScreen></iframe> (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrO4YZeyl0I)

I'm not ashamed to admit it. Gaga is very talented and has some kick ass songs. I like the fact she's not not some cookie cutter mainstream nice girl. She has a tight bod, not too bad looking depending on how she's done up, and as I said, she's talented. Sings pretty good, plays the piano and writes most of her own songs.
