Frankly, I don't trust any of the crap I'm hearing from scientists and government reps. They are trying to say this stuff is not related? Who believes that? It's the apocalypse. I'm tellin ya.

The events are likely unrelated, however, and the BBC notes that this is the third year in a row thousands of dead devil crabs, also known as velvet swimming crabs, have turned up on the coastline near Kent, England. It is estimated that 40,000 of the dead crabs have washed up on the beaches this year.

According to LiveScience, experts believe cold weather is to blame for the massive crab deaths. Tests conducted in past years have turned up no results for disease or similar problems, leaving the cause an unexplained mystery, though hypothermia is conjectured.

sounds like the crabs could use some Global Warming

More access.

I bet some of this stuff happened over the years, but now even small news has to be blockbusters. I remember when I used to complain about the Cable News Networks, but the internet and new media communications have taken it to a whole new level.

News is just like statistics anymore (got enough time, you can come up with something...)

Don't forget dead honey bees, dead frogs. The experimental viruses are escaping, the genetic mutations are mutating. I kid you not.

Them roadkill scavengers in Arkansas will jerky the dead birds and it will be in California as fast as their trucker cousins can get it there.

Some of this is your run of the mill freakish **** that happens. Red tide, beetle infestations, beached whales. However I have to think that global climate change is impacting things too. My aunt is an oceanographer who is now charting shipping lanes through the NW Paasage. Turns out to be a monumental PiTA because of the lack of good charts and the fact that you are a bagillion miles away from civilization but still close to land. Ya, and Panama isn't happy about the NW Passage opening up. Doh!

As one salty shipping guy put it, "Panama was the only chick at the bar. They still are but what Panama didn't anticipate is that a beer truck would pull up complete with strippers and free beer". Hmmm, I think it sounded funnier when he said it.
