On 87.7 they looked at our entire season and said that if we were to have scored 28 points in every single game this year, our record would have only improved to 8-8.

Think about that. If we matched the point production of our last game, 28 points each and every game this season, we would have only been a .500 team.

Our defense was effing HORRENDOUS. Absolute embarass.

Yeah, it is kind of funny to think about everyone backing McDaniels decisions as well. I said it would be like this as soon as Nolan left. Everyone just kept claiming Martindale deserves a chance and that McDaniels had improved the roster. I say that is pretty hard to back when the defense just played worse than a Slowik run defense on a Mike Shanahan team... Martindale is crap and we didn't improve the roster at all.

Sad, but very true. Not only that, but holy crap is it ever obvious that Mike Nolan made this team what it was for the first 6 weeks of last season.

You're a piece of ****. Not every thread has to be about your obsession with McDaniels. Get a ****ing hobby.

While i like Nolan, where exactly was he the other 10 games?

McDaniels told him to stop blitzing so much, that's what happened to him

If we keep Martindale, it will prove Elway and the new coach have no idea what they are doing

Martindale is a complete joke, so is the talent on the defensive side of the ball, minus Champ and Ayers pre foot break

IIRC, Nolan was told to blitze more by McDaniels.

whups, I typed wrong....either way, McDaniels got involved and screwed it all up, that's the bottom line

Yeah its fairly proven that there was a rift between McDaniels and Nolan about 1/2 way through the season and that they weren't on the same page.

IIRC, Nolan was told to blitze more by McDaniels.

That`s my recollection too.

I think Nolan leaving may have had more of an effect on the effort level of the defence in 2010 than anything else. Losing the locker rooms seemed to be an epidemic in the NFL this year and once we lost a few tough games this year (Jets) the effort/confidence seemed to spiral downward.

Yah, I was wrong about Nolan's leaving. It really, really affected the defense and the team as a whole. Not only that, it pretty much painted McD as a tyrant even if he and Nolan amicably parted ways...

Tyrant is a strong word. But he was stubborn. Belichick spent 20 year under Marchibroda and Parcells becoming stubborn and earning the right to impose his will on those around. McD though he could do it from day 1.

Might want to check you math before taking anything CJ says as gospel

I'll take my chances making the playoffs even with this D if you told me the offense would score 28 ppg

I count 9-7. 5 games we win plus we beat KC twice and now SD, Den and KC are now 9-7. Now we have to get into tie breaker to see who wins the division

SD wins the division, Denver second , KC third and OAK fourth

If this were the case we'd be right where New Orleans was in 2008. Awsome offense just needed to work on the D

Nevermind the horrible offense that left the defense out there for LONG stretches in 2009 and 2010.

How many games did we watch where the defense did decent for a half then buckled because the offense couldn't ******* score?

"A lot of people" are smart enough to talk about something else on occasion, avoiding the issue of looking like embittered ex girlfriends.

jhns is like the chick who gets dumped and won't stop bringing up the dude to her friends, hoping they'll chime in about what an asshole he was too in order to make her feel better. It's pathetic.

And if he wasn't such a douchenozzle, I'd actually feel sorry for jhns.

Retreads on the DL will get you a chitty defense. The back end and LBs havent been all that bad, although I would like to see DJ, Ayers and Doom get some help next year. Why did Shanny and McDummy keep putting worn out 2nd stringers on the d line ?

Moss and company we did draft sucked it up but we have to gamble on DL in the draft and one stud , not some cast off,
free agent d lineman for next year...................

Its not gonna go away any time soon. Any time Moreno fumbles, Hillis gets over 65 yards in a game, D. Thomas gets dinged up, Tebow throws a pick, Cutler throws a TD, Marshall makes a one handed grab, Alphonso Smith makes a tackle, Mike Nolan passes gas, Dawkins gets a parking ticket, it rains in Denver, Michael Cera is in a bad movie or chronic diarrhea spreads through a church group it will be blamed on McDaniels

its just part of life....they should make bracelets WWJD (What Would Josh Do)....JHNS and Co. can wear them, look at them any time a decision comes up and then do the opposite of what Josh would do...

We have finally hit defensive rock bottom. It has been coming for years, as our front office has consistently ignored that side of the ball while feeding their offense addictions. Now its either build from the ground up through the draft and hire real defensive coaches, or continue to be mediocre-to-terrible for the foreseeable future.
