Good, now we can shut up about him, finally.

Not like this is real breaking news. Anyone with a brain knew this would happen. But this is fantasy land.

Time to move along and start thinking about building a defense.

That's a sure sign they will NOT take him! ;)

The real opportunity is how to fleece Buffalo or another team that will want Cam Newton...

They will likely take luck but one possibility is they are letting other teams know it's going to take a kings ransom if they want luck. If carolina were to give or let it be known that they were willing to trade out they'd be giving away some leverage in trade talks.

Which we cannot afford to give.

Not to diss the thread, but there's never been any chance that Car won't take Luck if he comes out, and the notions of moving up to take him are ... absurd.

What do you guys think the chances are that Luck falls to us? I'm think they are pretty good.

Luck could pull an Eli Manning.

if by "pretty good" you mean absolutely zero, I totally agree with you ^5

We will know if this rumor is true or not after Luck declares and IF Carolina starts to negotiate a contract before the draft. That will pretty much guarantee he goes to Carolina. Otherwise, it might be posturing...

I imagine this is what will happen, but I never believe what any team says leading up to the draft. It's what I call "The Bull**** Season." ;D

You can get him in the late 1st, trade down.

What if he suddenly has a free fall in the draft and is there with our second round pick? Do you think we will take him or try to trade back? He'd be hard to pass up in the 2nd round. Maybe the Patriots would trade us 17 picks for him.

I like the kicker from New Mexico with our 1st round pick

I think Cam is going to shoot up draft boards after the combine. He's a genetic freak with a ridiculous arm, and some team is going to fall in love with his workout. I doubt he's going to climb high enough for some team to jump up to 2 to draft him though. Top 10 is a definite possiblity.

Cant wait till Luck declares to stay at school for another year! Then all these threads will be all to do about nothing.....EXCEPT....COME ON DOWN PATRICK PETERSON! YOU ARE THE #1 ONE PICK..... I will start a "new" thread - Who do we take once Carolina picks Peterson?

Was there any question about this? Good for Luck. Too bad he missed the money train by one year, though. That's gotta suck seeing Bradford's paycheck and then coming in for something a fraction of that.

I guess the Broncos are on the clock. :sunshine:

I guess we have to find out who our coach is going to be before we start speculating on that...

who am I kidding...?

Luck looked pretty good there yesterday, but I didn't think he held up under pressure like the pundits had played him up to. He did not seem "elite." He also made several mistakes I would expect from a rookie QB playing in the pros, not in a college bowl game. Whatever the case, we can get behind Tim now. I am willing to bet fans would burn down Invesco if we dumped another young and seemingly talented QB.

Luck could pull an Eli Manning.

Why would he do that when he can do a Peyton Manning and just stay in college another year?

Exactly. If Luck doesn't want to go to Carolina he will stay in school. He has 2 more years of eligibility.

Exactly. If he doesn't want to go to the Panthers and play for that cheapskate Richardson, he'll just stay in school.

yeah but look what happed to C. Palmer and M. Stafford. The panthers are not totally without some talent. With DeAngelo Williams and Stewart healthy they can run the ball. There's gonna be a rookie salary scale

Why would any team picking number 1 need to posture. They get exactly who they want or they get to field offers for something they can't refuse.
Pretty straight forward either way.

I hope Cam Newton comes out and outperforms Luck at the combine. Teams will be fighting to trade for our number 2 spot...

Smart move by the Panthers.

Put out the word you WILL absolutely take Andrew Luck with the #1 pick, but this doesn't mean they wouldnt be willing to trade if someone threw them a can't miss offer ( and still get one of the top QB's)

If Jim Harbaugh leaves, there is a chance his production may go down.

Less production, lower draft pick, less money.

Bingo! With Michigan job soon to be open, as well as numerous NFL jobs, Harbaugh's as good as gone. Luck would be crazy to turn down 1st pick money and go back to school to play for a new coach.
