My early "Why Not?" predictions...

Cleveland: John Fox
Cincinatti: Mike Mularkey
Denver: Jim Fassell
Oakland: Hue Jackson
Dallas: Jason Garrett
Minnesota: Leslie Frazier
Carolina: Perry Fewell
San Francisco: Brian Billick

I think Bud Adams holds on to Jeff Fisher and Jim Harbaugh stays in college (either at Stanford or Michigan).

Neither he nor his agent have even bothered drumming up fake interest (like Sundquist did with that bogus report the Niners were interested in him). Studes was exactly what the organization needed after McD. A steady and firm personality with an overall positive temperament. He really handled the situation with class and the team began playing harder under him. Untimely penalties still plagued the team the last three games, but overall the Broncos mental toughness improved. Only negative in my mind on keeping Studes is his game plans seemed on the vanilla side. I'm sure starting a rookie QB had a a lot to do with it, but it still makes him an unknown on his ability to outcoach a team of equivalent talent.

I wouldn't feel disappointed if Studes remained HC, but it wouldn't generate any overwhelming hope or excitement for me.

If Harbaugh doesn't come here, it wouldn't surprise me that Studes stays on as HC. He definitely needs help at OC & OL. How much networking he has done to recruit the right personnel if a complete unknown.

Despite Josh wetting the bed at HC, his brother seems to know how to coach QBs. Orton was playing at a high level the first 2/3's of the season and Tebow exceeded my expectations. Actually, all the candidates we hear about are just speculation from media or message boards right now. With the Rooney rule in place the FO isn't going to release anything about targeting any non-minority coach or it is a violation. So, the Fassel rumor could have just as much credibility as any other right now (which is virtually none).

Report: Del Rio will be back

Posted by Mike Florio on January 3, 2011, 4:24 PM EST

After owner Wayne Weaver declined to discuss coach Jack Del Rio’s future and Del Rio’s season-ending press conference was postponed, things didn’t look good for the man who has patrolled the sidelines in Jacksonville for the last eight years, winning 66 games and losing 65.

According to the Associated Press, Del Rio will return for a ninth.

It makes sense, in light of the team’s revised press conference schedule. Weaver will meet with the media at 5:30 p.m. ET, and Del Rio will conduct his press conference at 10:00 a.m. ET Tuesday. If Del Rio was no longer going to be an employee of the organization, he wouldn’t have been conducting a press conference announced by the team.

Thus, Weaver will make the formal announcement at 5:30 p.m. ET and take the heat from anyone in the local media who may be inclined to question Weaver aggressively regarding his decision to continue to employ Del Rio despite three years without a playoff appearance.

In the end, the move surely was influenced by the $5 million salary due to Del Rio in 2011 and 2012. Also, the possibility of a lockout that stretches deep into the offseason and possibly into September would limit dramatically the access a new coach will have to his new team.

I was wondering where I had heard the name Frank Bush before. He was our linebacker coach, then secondary and then special teams. When I saw the name I kind of knew I didn't like the dude. But he was the linebacker coach during the SB and obviously did a decent job with Mobley. Makes me wonder how much input Kubiak had in his hiring.
