I actually am happy for Kubiak. He loves Houston and Wade Phillips will have that defense playing well again in a year or two. If Kubiak can get that defense at least serviceable he should pick up a few more games an maybe buy himself one more year.

And I'm glad we won't be hiring him.

I wasn't too enthused about having Kubiak here, but certaintly an option the Broncos FO would've been interested in taking a hard look at...

As much as I loved Kubes while he was with us, I'm not disappointed we won't be making him our HC.

I am, however, a little disappointed we won't be making Phillips our DC. I think he would have been a great fit.

I don't feel like looking it up but I wonder what the record is for consecutive years that a newbie HC didn't qualify for the PO's.

I'd be shocked if Kub's ever makes it to .500

Missed out on Wade Phillips for DC. That would have been huge to have him here running the 3 / 4 for us. Good thing Bowlen fired Josh with 4 meaningless game left so we could be ready to grab up the good hires out there as they became available.

Flounder around some more Pat

Why would Wade want to come here, where he's been fired previously, to a team that has little defensive talent when he could go to a team like the Texans?

Great hire for the Texans.

Wade has proven repeatedly he can whip a defense into shape as coordinator.

Well, Wade was fired here by the current owner so it may have been difficult for him to come back here. As for Kubiak he had 3 yrs left on his contract I think so that made him hard to fire. Also he had the O playing fairly well, Schaub has been one of the top QB's statistically the past couple years.

You are right I was living in the past when Denver was a desirable place to play and coach.

No coach worth his salt was going to come to Denver with Josh here anyways.

Houston has alot of defensive talent Philips should be able to get them playing at a high level and their offense is pretty solid Kubes should be in the playoffs next year but they said that this year too

Can you point to one report anywhere that mentioned the Broncos had any interest whatsoever in Phillips? Not to mention Phillips probably hates Bowlen.

Go have another drink and sit this one out, old-timer.

LOL cmon what makes people think you will get 3 former head coaches to work together? It happens but usually one of the former coaches moves on after a yr or so.

The better formula is Pitt where the old crusty d coord has no designs on head coaching.

What does how many posts someone has have anything to do with it? The notion using the internet to communicate with friends, or argue politics, or follow sports as being out of touch is over with. The only thing more posts means now is that on this forum he will have more credibility and a longer list of thoughts for others to judge his posts on.

Why should anyone care what you think until you prove you have something worthwhile to add?

Still I think Wade is a grea defensive coach and has the demeanor to work under someone as an asst. In the end though I think very few former head coaches are happy for long as a coordinater. I like the formula where the coordinaters are either young coaches on the rise, or old ones who are pros at what they do. As in a professional defensive coord who doesn't want or think about head coaching etc etc. I just think it makes for good long term stability.

Exactly what this team has needed on the Defensive side for a long time

Enough of changing D coordinators every year

We had our long term stability in Mike Nolan, and we found a way to blow it. I don't know why you guys think any respected defensive coordinator is going to want to come to Denver. We have no talent and we fire dudes every year. Doesn't exactly sound like a dream job.

Watching that Houston team last week get a nice lead and then be totally unable to take the dagger to us was way too reminiscent of the old Shanahan teams. There was no conceivable way they should have lost last week after leading by 17 at half time against a 3 win team unless there is some serious disfunction going on there.

I like the guy but no thanks.

Just my two cent worth.

When you are unprovoked and reply to posts with statements like "Go have another drink and sit this one out, old-timer" and "why don't you go sleep it off, champ? someone of your age shouldn't be drinking so much anyway"......you lose all credibility with anything you post.

The Texans are one of the better second half offensive teams in the league...but not last week. 24-6 Denver in the second half.

Just sayin.

Pretty funny, actually. Ha!

Wasn't it Watermock who nicknamed Kubes "Nintendo?"
