Looks like Brian Xanders will stay in teams restructured front office. We hear McDaniels made some trades without consulting him at all.

Is this a surprise to anyone? As has been discussed/mentioned time and time again over the last several days, Bowlen and Ellis fucced up. They didn't put a real GM in place, they didn't clearly define roles, and they gave an inexperienced guy too much power. We'll find out over the next few months whether or not they learned their lessons.

No seriously, I sort of called this a few minutes ago. He'll have the same roles and responsibilities he did under McDaniels which means he won't be a GM. He'll be a capologist that works on contracts and that's it. They may let him sit in the war room during the draft and give input, but this doesn't means he's the GM.
Everyone that's panicking, please pay attention to what's been said and what we know.
Elway doesn't want to be GM. He doesn't believe he can be.
Ellis said Bowlen and he are "very likely" going to find a GM to run the personnel side of the team.
Xanders is not going to be the GM.
That means they're resolving the issue of Xanders previously holding that title first before they find a new one. It's easier to fill a position when there's an opening. This allows you to keep Xanders if there's things you like that he does (and he works great with the cap and on contracts) and prevents any hard feelings before the new GM is brought in. I just hope they give the GM the power to fire guys like Xanders. Not saying we should, but if you're going to do it this way, you need to go all in.
Does your mom want hers back?

So it is ok that you want us to believe (insinuate) that Wolf masterbates to Josh McDaniels but you want to cry foul when he brings up it was your Moms lube that he used? Trust me, crying to the mods when you started the rip is kinda like a poster not having a problem with gay smack until he finds out it is his brother that is gay and wants it all to stop. Dude, use some more punctuation. That made little sense.
And what does the bolded sentence mean?
I was ripping the mods for their ridiculously inconsistent banning of people.
And yes, when people call gay people inferior human beings like strafen does every day here, I find it offensive because I have a gay brother. What exactly is your point?

It means dont cry when you start the smack. It was a good comeback and there was no need to respond to it calling out the mods. You also never had a problem with gay smack until you found out your brother is a homosexual then it was on the lookout for the gay smack. Just pointing out the inconsistency here. Masterbation, ok to rip on but gay jokes, not so much. Maybe Strafen has gone over the line on some, I dont know but I have seen you respond to it when it has been no big deal. You found a new crusade so if that is what you want to do, go for it. Just dont whine when your smack gets a rebuttal.

Anyway, I think it's obvious Josh was given WAY too much power, I would not mind Xanders staying on in a reduced role. We need a STRONG GM in place before we pick our new head coach.

Statistically we're pretty much identical. The biggest difference is luck and no Shanahan game day coaching. In 2008 we got wins with some luck. We haven't had any good luck since.
Every player we've gotten rid of we have more than replaced their production and in fact with exception to Hillis none of those guys have produced as well as they did here. Face it the guys we traded were over rated and even more so to us because we were all fans. This team has been garbage since the end of 2005.
Keep glorifying those players but the best ones we kept.
The only thing "destroyed" has been us the fans and the talented and experienced offensive coaching staff we had assembled but the minute Shanahan was gone we all knew the rest would be gone too.

Are you the softer MVPlaya?
If McD did some trades without Zanders knowledgement, how did the paperwork get to the NFL without another signature from the Broncos? Did McD have that much control that he didnt need any other FO employee to put together a trade? Seems Zanders might not have approved of the method but might not have stated much about it to Bowlen until these trades became absolute disappoint.

And a run game. And an up and coming OL, being coached by professionals, with prescient schemes. And a QB who actually had the ability to make a play without a perfect pocket and 4 seconds to go through all of his progressions. And Hillis. And a pass catching TE. And lots of upcoming picks to address shortcomings.
You keep pretending like that team wasn't 8-8 and on the upswing. It's interesting watching you and fans like you perform the mental gymnastics necessary in order to somehow alleviate Josh McDaniels of the total blame he deserves for the destruction of what was a promising offense

Well then I think you read it wrong. I wasn't defending any of that.
A run game yes. But when Shanahan was canned that left with him as did his staff shortly after. The good offensive line? We still have all the good players from that line.
Yeah Cutler can make a play. He can also **** it up really badly too. It's his 5th year in the league and he's still a turnover machine. Scheffler is a dime a dozen TE that has health issues. Hillis does sting to have lost though.
That 8-8 team wasn't on the upswing. The offense was horribly mistake prone and inefficient and the defense was progressively worse and worse and at the end of 2008 in order to fix all of that Shanahan was going to bring everybody back for a redo in 2009. Bob Slowick for DC in 2009 and we're on an upswing?
You keep pretending that team was going to be something in order to lay all of the blame at the feet of McDaniels. McDaniels was here for two miserable years. Shanahan spent an entire decade trying to draft some talent for this team and failed catastrophically in almost every attempt and that is why we are here now. If Shanahan drafts at just a league average rate we have at least 10 different quality veteran starters on our team today. McDaniels was just a continuation of what we had going before with Shanahan. A lot of questionable draft day practices. It's just Shanahan is a better coach and had two Super Bowl rings backing him up which allowed him to better mask our descent into the ****ter.

I think this situation is very fluids lets discuss but i'm really going to wait and see how it plays out. I remember a lot of things that changed after being declared previously first the offense not changing prior to hiring McDaniels, then the GM not changing, then Cutler not being traded, then McDaniels not being fired this year.

We were NOT "on an upswing" in '08. One of the worst defenses in league history, terrible special teams and middle of the road offense that was at the top of the league in giveaways. And the historic collapse : losing all three of our last three games to blow a three game lead to lose the division. I'm still pissed at Shanahan for that. We had the fourth easiest schedule that year too. No, we weren't going anywhere.

As much as I love giving Xanders a hard time, I have to give him credit for rescuing Moreno's season with the whole jacking off the unicorn thing. Unfortunately, in their infinite wisdom, Xanders and Josh didn't stop and think there might be another catastrophic injury and they blew the unicorn's whole wad (literally) on curing Moreno's hamstring.

It was a young team that needed defensive help. They collapsed due to their collective inexperience. That team had a real chance to take it to the next level in the upcoming years and was certainly miles and miles ahead of the trash heap we now have before us.

Looks like Brian Xanders will stay in teams restructured front office. We hear McDaniels made some trades without consulting him at all.
http://twitter.com/#!/thegarymillerAnd he kept it quiet?
The guy is spineless.
I've heard that he will be retained today also.
His strength is in salary cap and contract structuring...

it is going to be a long while before this team is remotely good again.
Unstable front office, little talent besides maybe OL/WR and too many holes.
I feel we are in for a Detroit Lions type era.
