The issue is that Luck IS NOT coming out this offseason, but without a season next year, this season is probably going to determine next year's draft order to some extent and Luck likely will come out next year. In that sense our record will determine our chances at Luck to some extent (I have no idea how the draft order will be determined without a season).

Our problem is that every team in the league in any sort of position to get Luck, with the exception of Detroit, would give their left nut to have him. And Carolina is pretty much certain to have a worse record than anyone else. Nobody but the team that gets the #1 pick in the draft is going to have a shot at him unless Detroit ends up there. If Detroit ends up there they can just give it to the highest bidder and there will be some high bids for him.

Couple that with the certainty of a rookie wage scale and Luck becomes potentially the hottest prospect since Elway. It may be impossible to get him without giving up multiple years' 1st and 2nd round picks. I'm not sure that is worth it. Even Manning can't win without a team around him and playing defense against the opponent. Filling this defense with 3rd and 4th round talent isn't what we need right now.

Cecil Lammey was even talking about having to trade Clady to get Luck. Would that be worth it?

I think these are the worst type of response. Did we suffer when we beat the Vikings and got the 12th pick instead of the 8th and selected Clady. We need to see some consistency. We want guys like Champ to want to come back. ASking us to go 0-4 means we get swept by the Faiders and the Chargers. Pure BS if you ask me. Win the games and actually feel good about the offseason. We have had one of the worst runs in franchise history as we won 5 out of 22. Enjoy your draft pick as I will try to enjoy 4 straight wins. 0-4....loser talk!
PS: If it is the last game of the season (and it wasnt the chargers) and/or the chance of getting a needed superstar in the draft, then I might not care if we win or lose. But, Luck isnt a sure thing coming out or if there is even a season next year.

Peyton and his lack of AFC titles is one of the best arguments ever for building a good all-around team. Denver won AFC titles with Elway because they also had a good, well-coached, all-around team behind him. Good D, some decent kick returners and special-teamers.

As for Lammey, he says anything to get controversy and attract listeners. I heard some of that.

Ah, I said 2-2 and figuring whoop the Raiders and SD, then you get a little higher pick to parlay into multiple picks. Let's hope the CBA goes through before the draft so some underclassmen declare for the draft. If there is no CBA before the draft there's no reason for the underclassmen to declare.

No, loser talk is when you root for your team to be in a worse position in the offseason when it has no possible chance to do anything of consequence this season. This team has so many goddamn holes right now that going 4-0 to end this nightmare will not help that one iota. It may make people like you feel better about the team, but in February, the team is still stuck with all those major holes.

Let me ask you this. In '07, do you wish we would have beaten the Chargers once? Or beaten Favre and his fudgepackers on MNF? Wouldnt that have felt great? Yeah, sure, but it would have knocked us out of a shot to get Clady! And we might be stuck with some journeyman dip**** who can't block. We would be out Clady, but By God we could point to that extra win 3 years ago!

Were you one of those like Lex who rooted against the Broncos when they played the last game in 2007 against Vikings? Because we won and if we didnt, we might have taken a bust instead of Clady at 12. Works both ways. You have been such a grumpy old man lately, you are like that senile guy who walks around the mall and yells and the shoe stores because it used to be a barbershop where he got his hair cut for 30 cents, despite the fact the mall was build on farm land in 2004 and there has never been a barbershop in the place. If it wasn't for the bittersweet smell of urine and the off chance that you did something important back when you had your own teeth and bladder control you would have been taken away, but out misplaced respect people leave you alone, they even forgive you for the weird noises you make.

Nope. When we are mathematically eliminated I always root for the better draft pick.

For example, I am very very grateful that we sucked ass in '82 and were in a position with the #4 pick to trade for John Elway. Are you not glad that we lost to Kansas City, the LA Raiders, and the Seattle Seahawks so we could be in a position to get Elway?

And let me ask you something? Hypothetically speaking if Luck is really the next Peyton Manning, a quarterback that will lead your team to 12+ win season after 12+ win season starting in 2, 3 years, and by losing out you guaruntee yourself the pick that gets him, isn't that worth just a tad bit more than winning games that mean nothing more than a lil pride?

I will bet you whatever you have that we didnt lose those games to draft elway. You name the price. Also, we probably are not going QB at this point and it is up to the new coach to decide so why get all in a Luck frenzy when he might not be there when we draft even if we win 1 game to go. If we were down to one last game and Manning was waiting there, then yes that one game doesnt mean too much. We are talking 4 games to go. I want them to go out a win these games. If we lose the next three and it comes to the last game and drafting a big time stud that we need, so be it. As you shop listening to Holiday music feel free to remake the Broncos team this week considering we have the following Free Agents at the end of the season.

RULES TO THIS GAME: you can only keep two existing FA's and must cut any existing starting Broncos roster players for any new free agent player you sign. To avoid a 'team chemistry' hit, you cannot sign a new free agent QB and RB (must be one or the other). To avoid a defensive 'team chemistry' hit, you cannot sign more than 1 new free agent player at any one category (DL, LB, DB). See if you can be the next GM and select the best winning combination.

LOL! Dude you need to find a list that is current. I am almost certain Stokely is no longer a Broncos and Warner retired last year as a Cardinals. But, wth, I want him!

I'm a big picture thinker all the way. Aikman or Mandarich...who do you think "won" when the Pack won an extra game? Of course you have to actually take advantage of opportunities with draft picks as well...

Warren Sapp is still on that list... just sayin

The difference to me, at this stage:

Is that I always want us to win...so, I chose 4-0, but if we lose all 4...I'm not going to want to kill somebody, like I normally want to do when the Broncos lose.

I'm hoping we have a great GM and scouting staff that can make excellent use of whatever picks remain to us. I also wonder at people who say losing NOW is the right thing. If that is the obvious thing to do, then we're totallyscrewed because we're currently tied for the sixth worse record and those other teams won't be so stupid as to win and lose.

I think that Tebow needs to see the field in primetime.

I'll take Ngata.

<!-- google_ad_section_start -->If the current person who's coaching the broncos doesn't insert tebow into the game in the 2nd half, he should be relieved of his responsibilities immediately. Orton blows today, you're getting killed by the Cardinals, the only possible thing you could be playing for is draft postition, so why not see if you have anything at all in tebow. I suspect not, but it can't get any worse.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
