I'm told by source there are allegedly other Denver Broncos players being investigated. Perrish Cox may not be the only one.

Perrish Cox charged with sexual assault

Denver Broncos (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/den/denver-broncos) cornerback Perrish Cox (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=13344) has been charged with sexual assault by the Douglas (Colo.) District Attorney's Office.

Cox was taken into custody Thursday night following an investigation into an alleged Oct. 28 assault and brought to a Douglas County jail, said Michelle Kivela, public information officer for the city of Lone Tree, which is about 20 miles south of Denver.
Cox, who has started eight games for the Broncos this season, appeared Friday in Douglas County Court in nearby Castle Rock wearing a gray prison uniform. His feet were shackled and he was escorted by an armed sheriff's deputy.

A judge declined a defense attorney's request to reduce a $50,000 bond but did say that Cox can leave the state two times -- apparently to play in Broncos road games at Arizona this weekend and at Oakland on Dec. 19. Cox waived extradition, meaning he agreed not to fight transport back to Colorado if for some reason he were arrested out of state.

Cox posted bail Friday afternoon and was released from custody, according to Douglas County jail guard Chad Walker.

The case filing was sealed at the request of the district attorney's office. Cox's next court hearing was set for Jan. 7.

"We are aware of the reports and are currently in the process of gathering information and reviewing the facts," Broncos media relations director Patrick Smyth said, according to the Denver Post. "We are taking this matter very seriously and are fully cooperating with every aspect of the process."

The alleged assault occurred a few days after Cox was knocked out of a game against Oakland on Oct. 24 with a concussion. He spoke afterward about having no memory of the 59-14 rout and missed the team's trip to London for their Oct. 31 game against San Francisco.

Douglas County Court spokeswoman Casimir Spencer, prosecutor John Topolnicki and defense attorney Vince Buckmelter all declined to comment on the case.
An e-mail to Cox's agent wasn't immediately returned Friday.

"This is a serious matter and something we're taking extremely serious as an organization," Broncos interim coach Eric Studesville said Friday. "We'll get all the facts together, get all the information we can, sit down and figure out what we're going to do based on the information we gather. It's disappointing news. Anytime you hear something like this, it always is."

Cox's arrest is just the latest crisis for the Broncos. Studesville was promoted from running backs coach late Monday after Josh McDaniels was fired in the midst of the franchise's worst skid in four decades and the Spygate II videotape scandal that tarnished the team's image.

The Broncos, who are 3-9 and have already been eliminated from the playoffs for a fifth straight season, have been under a dark cloud all season, dealing with one ordeal after another.

Wide receiver Kenny McKinley (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=12582) committed suicide in September. Star linebacker D.J. Williams (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=5542) also was stripped of his captaincy earlier this season following his second arrest on drunken driving charges.

"The last couple months, whenever I get a message or anything, a phone call, you get to thinking, 'God, I just hope it's nothing bad,' " perennial Pro Bowl cornerback Champ Bailey (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=1758) said. "When you've been in this locker room, you never know."
Cox has played in 11 games this season in place of Andre' Goodman (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=3596), who may return Sunday from a leg injury that has sidelined him for most of the season.

A fifth-round pick out of Oklahoma State, Cox was coming off his best performance of the season at Kansas City last week and drew praise from his teammates and coaches for the job he did opposite Bailey in Denver's 10-6 loss.

"I don't truly know what's going on with him, so I can't truly comment but whatever it is I hope it's not a serious situation and he'll be back with us on Sunday," linebacker Mario Haggan (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=4686) said. "Unfortunately there's been adversity around this team this year. But I'm always optimistic that something good is going to happen in the midst of a storm."

As it should.

I know of one kid in Georgia that has it on his record and he did nothing morally wrong but he was technically guilty under the law. The bottom-line was this; two kids of relative age having consensual sex.

There's no reason for anyone to ever put themselves in that situation.
So tough the laws are these days, that if you get caught peeing in public you'll get charged not only with indecent exposure, but you're now a sex offender and you must register as such. crazy, huh?

I'd have to know how you define relative age. Sounds like a problem with the law, not a problem with the stigma associated with sex crimes.

Link?I'm sorry. I don't have a link.
You may want to research it under Colorado sex offender laws.

I have a friend that works for the Commerce City Police Department and she told me that a guy she used to work with is now a registered sex offender because he was caught urinating in public.

I've gotta go now, I see if later tonight I can look it up...

I agree, but the two are together. One makes the other.

I looked it up. It's Marcus Dixon. They were roughly 2 3/4 years apart with her being 15 3/4. Also, he didn't even technically break the law. He didn't at all. He got 10 years in prison. I believe he got released early due to political pressure and it's on his record. The other thing I was wrong about was that they were both minors.

Anyway, the stigma is a problem when it doesn't actually equate to the actual problem because of incorrectly applying the law. So just saying someone is a sex offender doesn't actually indicate behavior. To make a proper judgement, details are required.

You are a ****ing moron if you don't think Denver media outlet sucks. They've been talking **** about the Broncos ever since Shanny was here. They talk **** regardless of a win or loss, and focus on negative BS before the season starts.

Denver Media outlets are the ****ing worst. Maybe they know the fans are retarded and only bite into BS... that'd be a valid explanation.

I don't think he was saying they don't suck, I think he was saying because they suck maybe they are wrong about this situation. Uhh

So now we are hearing multiple players and multiple women? If that's true it doesn't add up to me. It sounds like a group effort to extort money, but I could be wrong.

Well I do know a girl that was smashing Bruton. She falls in love & can't comprehend why he passed her off to McBath & Alphonso Smith. I'm thinking in my head 'youre just another hoe open your eyes'. Of course I'm sure this has happened to dozens of others I'm sure. Does it surprise that Cox is being alleged? No all it takes is one scorned woman. So this multiple players is no surprise either.

This, but it wouldn't surprise me if more end up in the net.
"The last couple months, whenever I get a message or anything, a phone call, you get to thinking, 'God, I just hope it's nothing bad,' " perennial Pro Bowl cornerback Champ Bailey said. "When you've been in this locker room, you never know."

As far as the next four games go; good riddance. Cox was a 4th/5th CB that somehow was gifted a starting spot and bombed at it. Hopefully Goodman is ready to play, but if not, Vaughn has shown the skills and awarness of a starter and should do very well. Much better option than Squid who has good ball skills, but slow step like Phonz.

Bombed at it? How?

The guy is a rookie playing opposite Champ Bailey on a defense with the worst pass rush in the league and he's been good far more than he's been bad. Sure, he's gotten picked on by Manning and lost some battles, but who hasn't? And has he even had as bad a game this season as Champ did in the first Chiefs game?

I think he's been a bright spot on that defense given what he's had to overcome around him. Oh well.

Big difference by a star ahole and a rookie ahole (possibly). Big Ben got off easy compared to what the average shmuck would have received for the rape case.
