Yup, but it won't be Schottenheimer for sure, and I'd bet against Kubiak as well. The Calhoun talk is rampant. I don't see a big name, big $ coach happening. Not with two HC's already on the payroll and a lockout looming.

John Gruden will not come back to football until after 2011. He is on record stating it and has made numerous comments about the CBA uncertainty... He'll wait. He also requires a team that has a QB with a High IQ. Just because he likes teblows work ethic... it doesn't mean he wants to groom him. Tebow will probably be traded now anyway!

Why? He did some impressive work in Oakland, but that was more than a decade ago. He the rode coattails of Dungy's/Kiffin's defense in Tampa, but never got his offense to playt above a mediocre level. Hence, why he wore out his welcome and was fired. I don't get the fascination with this guy who coaching performance hasn't been impressive for more than a decade.

LOL exactly. It became comical the way he would bring in every veteran retread that became available, always with the same mediocre-at-best results. I have no idea why so many folks want to bring in a guy whose best work was in the last century.

LaMonte connection makes Gruden less likely in Denver
Posted by Mike Florio on December 6, 2010, 8:37 PM EST
Last week, we mused about the possibility that ESPN’s Jon Gruden decided to show a little leg to the “U” in the hopes of sparking some back-channel discussions with the 49ers, Browns, and/or Broncos.

Yes, the Broncos. Gruden has gushed about quarterback Tim Tebow, which would presumably make Gruden interested in adapting the spread offense to the NFL game. (Then again, Gruden gushes about pretty much everyone. Except Derek Anderson.)

But here’s one potential roadblock. Agent Bob LaMonte represents both Gruden and former Broncos coach Josh McDaniels. At a minimum, it would be awkward for the Broncos to negotiate a new deal with LaMonte on behalf of Gruden.

Of course, if the Broncos really want Gruden, it shouldn’t matter.

According to Gruden’s colleagues at ESPN, Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen, early candidates for the permanent job include Vikings interim head coach Leslie Frazier and Air Force coach Troy Calhoun. Per the report, Frazier’s contract with the Vikings expires in early January — unless of course the Vikings hire him to be the permanent head coach before then.

Agreed. I'm sure the agent is butthurt over the fact that he gets to charge McD a fee for his next contract, and would shy away from taking a fee from Gruden to take the Broncos job. He must be depressed!

Also, wasn't Rich McKay the GM when Gruden was there? Then it was Bruce Allen (currently working with Shanny in Washington).
