I was wonder why Royal is not more active in the games we have. I think he is every bit as good as lloyd if not better at YAC.

Is he not getting the separation ?

Does Orton over look him ?

Is he not in the game plan ?

1. Lloyd has better hands. The guy makes circus catches and his hands remind me of Javon Walker's in his prime. When you have Spidey hands, you get a lot more looks.

2. Lloyd, while not significantly larger than Royal, PLAYS larger. I think he uses his frame and muscle in a way that jump balls and tight coverages go his way. Royal is sleek and quick but doesn't have this element to his game at 5'10 and 180lbs.

Seems like they give him a lot of looks, just no routes over 10 yards. They've run some nifty catch and runs with him. Last few games it seems like Orton's been looking just for Lloyd though.

Good post. I would also add that Lloyd was a favorite of Orton's in Chi-town, so there is some pre-existing chemistry that Royal and Orton might not share.

I have been a full supporter of Orton until yesterday it got real old watching him short arm passes and miss open receivers yesterday.

I'm pretty much best friends with him on Facebook. Maybe I'll ask him.

Me too. My feelings towards Orton are like colonelbeefcurtain's towards mcd. Orton is dead to me. WHat a disgusting performance yesterday.

Lot of easy skank in KC, I'm thinking he was a little worn out.

Lloyd has much better agility. He's like Mr Stretch around defenders... he's just fast enough to beat guys... but it's his agility that allows him to get after balls Orton throws that are out of reach for the defender and most receivers.

Royal has great speed but he's not overly agile.

Lloyd can get around guys while Royal just sort of ducks past them when he can (his 2+ TDs over the middle were scored when he used his sexy speed to get open on a crossing route, made a standard catch then ducked between two defenders into the end zone).

Possibly. maybe he caught syphilis or got monoxide poisoning from camaro exhaust.

Because Kyle Orton never looks his way. When he wanted to get Eddie involved he did, just like the end of the Rams game. He started going to Eddie on almost every pass starting with the circus catch on 4th down, including the very last pass of the game on 4th and 18 that came up short, Eddie was open and probably would have been able to get the 1st with a quick dive if Orton could have delivered the ball to him.

Orton only looks to Eddie on 3rd and short - mediums... so predictable. Defenders are looking for it every time.

This offense is built to go to the open receiver... lately Orton has been making poor decisions and throwing it into double coverage.

Yesterday on a play action where he launched it into double coverage on the left side of the field to either Gaf/Lloyd, Gronkowski was running wide open in the middle/right of the field.

Maybe it's the pass pro that doesn't allow Orton to read more than 1 WR...

All I know is Orton and Eddie have absolutely no chemistry dating back to last season.

They use Eddie with WR screens and end rounds, quick stuff out of slot and to keep coverages away from Lloyd, he has his place in the O, plus he is a legit PR in ST's.

It is just not as fun to dink it down to Royal (as we found out last year) when you can just CiDtL!

I love watching Eddie running in space. You'd think we could get him on more crossing routes.

Watch them closely in the next huddle. Eddie and Brandon play rock, paper, scissors in the huddle, whoever wins, gets the pass thrown their way.
