Ah, the golden age of MNF. Howard and Dandy Don were broadcast gold. Oh, and Don was a pretty good qb (and drunk) as well. Rest in peace and thank you for being you, Don.

I remember when Dandy Don always used to call Craig Morton "curly" when he did Bronco Monday night games (Morton was Meredith's backup for a couple of seasons for the Cowboys)

He did play off Howard Cosell well on Monday Night Football. RIP

I wish I could get a DVD of some of his games, his NFL films specials were always fun.

Nothing will ever equal the Epicness of the Cosell, Gifford, Meredith booth, lightning in a bottle.

I have the game Coselle got drunk in.

RIP Don! Hope they honor your memory well tonight.

Apropos, really. Donny Baseball has gone to Dodger-land--where managers go to die. Hilarious!

Cosell's presence initially caused Henry Ford II, chairman of the Ford Motor Company, the show's main sponsor, to ask for his removal. ABC refused, and Ford had a change of heart once the show's ratings were made public. Cosell dodged another controversy when he appeared to be intoxicated on the air during the November 23 game between the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles. Already ill, Cosell drank at a promotional party prior to the game, then ended up vomiting on Don Meredith's cowboy boots near the end of the first half. Jackson and Meredith ended up announcing the rest of the contest.

And my favorite Dandy Don memory:

On October 29, Meredith was drinking during the Buffalo Bills-Kansas City Chiefs game, which was preceded one week earlier by his pre-game analysis of the Denver Broncos–Oakland Raiders game: "We're in the Mile High City and I sure am" — a not-so-subtle reference to his use of marijuana at the time

Ben, this one is an urban legend. It never happened. He never said that. I don't know exactly this story got its initial legs, but I own the broadcast and he never says this.

You totally have my vote for most worthless poster ...

I mean yea we get it , every time someone dies you post the wrong pic normally edited with the name of the real person who died ...

So either this time you was to lazy to edit the pic , or to stupid and just been stealing the edited pic from some other moron making the same thread someplace else...

Either way , we get it , your that guy who post the wrong pic when someone dies ... It was funny , well never ...
