It's a losing battle. With every misstep he makes and every embarrassing loss he takes, Josh McDaniels moves closer to the unemployment line.

In this football-crazy town, coaching the Broncos is a public trust that McDaniels has broken. He might be the most reviled man in Denver.

At the end of a weird 48 hours during which his integrity took a $50,000 hit to the wallet and his team was kicked in the gut by a 36-33 loss to St. Louis, I asked McDaniels if getting busted for secretly videotaping an NFL opponent's practice had undercut his authority with Denver coaches and players.

"I have no idea," McDaniels replied.

Nothing undercuts his authority quite like his record.

If you didn't know better, you would never guess this man was the coach of an NFL team.

Yep

McDaniels walked through a silent Denver locker room. He wore a backpack and a ball cap. A cellphone was stuck to his ear. Before going out the door, McDaniels stopped to scavenge the pizza boxes stacked on a table.

If you didn't know better, you would never guess this man was the coach of an NFL team.

Man, Jay Glazer lit McD up on the Fox pre-game. Said his coaches are mailing it in and have no loyalty to him because he's utterly ripped them in front of the owner. I think McD has used up all his clout as a leader and watching the players--for the most part--mail it in is the evidence.

Kizla is a buzzard. It must please him immensely to pick at the carcass of this franchise.

Kizla is a POS, but he's right on this one

McDaniels is over his head, he has no idea what he is doing at this point

Yea, and he provided not ONE single quote of this information. Not one.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not even doubting that he's correct....

but how can you make the kinds of accusations he did, and not provide a single shred of evidence or source of any sort?

He may as well have finished with, "The moon is made of green cheese," because it appears we're supposed to take his word as gospel without questioning it.

Again, McDaniels is in a bad place right now, we all get that. But, this reminds me of the Cutler saga where a whole lot of things were said that turned out to never be proven and likely weren't true.

on McD's response to questions, I bet

.
If this was a leak from within McD's circle, what do expect for him to reference. I guess he can give the insider a code name like Deep Throat. Based on McD's response to questions, I bet this is pretty close to the truth.

Do we finally have an "unnamed source"? I've been waiting to hear from one of those, because I have a hard time believing that everybody in that locker room is supporting what is going on there.

While I agree when someone provides a story as inflammatory as the one Glazer reported, a source should be provided. It is likely because the source is one of the coaches... It also seems pretty plausible considering half of last years staff "mutually agreed" to part ways. I don't think McD could bring in any esatblished co-ordinators at this point. Where there is smok, there is usually fire. And, over the last 2 years we've had more smoke than any franchise in the league...

3 members of last years staff left, not even remotely close to half. 2 left to join coaches that they had previously worked with and that ran the zone blocking system that they were more accustomed to.

Feel free to keep making things up to suit your agenda though.

I stand corrected, it wasn't half, just the key spots... And, I don't have an agenda. Read my posts and I'm pretty fair on my views but keep posting whatever suits you... I could care less...

It think Glazer's story is very believable. Considering that someone "tattled" on McD about the video thing from his staff and he cannot find out who due to the league's whistle blower rules... I think the players will back McD and if I were McD I would be pretty upset with my coaching staff, not b/c of the tattle tale thing but b/c of the shiat product on the field.

You'd be surprised what guys will do when they need a job. There are plenty of capable coordinators and position coaches who will be available.

As for the "undressing" in front of Bowlen, we've got not one shred of proof or even an unnamed source to quote.

Beyond that, does anyone here mind if the whole staff was lambasted in front of Bowlen after a 59 point disaster to the Raiders?

I work in TV and can tell you that if our operation turned in a failure to that degree, people would not just be getting lambasted, they'd be losing jobs.

McD hired the staff. He is responsible to answer to Bowlen. If McD has a problem with his staff, professionally he should address those individuals either privately or in meeting. He threw them under the bus by not taking the owner heat. And yeah, some peopel will be losing jobs.

Said league counsel Jeff Pash on Saturday: "One of the things about our policy and the duty to report is we do make a pledge, and this is not unusual in these settings, we do make a pledge of confidentiality as part of a way of encouraging people to come forward and also protecting people against possible retaliation.''

Not going to be a source name on this one Popps because the league is protecting him/her from possible retaliation by McDaniels, or any other senior member of the organization, as they would with any other team.

Go ahead and yell "conspiracy" like you usually do dude, but there is a source.

And McScandal preaches about accountability. :pity:
