Any coach who knows that to build a winning team you start in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Any coach.***

** Except previous superbowl winning coaches, I want to win the superbowl so that disqualifies all other coaches that have previously won one as no coach has ever won a superbowl with two separate teams as a head coach.

I'm gonna say Cowher although I don't know if he would do it. I wouldn't mind Gruden a bit.

Any coach other than the current coach.

I think that squirrel running around in the end zone during the game has more potential.

Great post. It's exactly what I see also.

We had a hall of fame coach who couldn't win in the playoffs without a real DL and that's not going to change with some offensive coordinator learning on the job.

If McD is fired, this is my shortlist:

Marty Schottenheimer
Bill Cowher
Jeff Fisher (although its likely he'll remain employed w/ TN)
Rob Ryan
John Fox (if fired)
and maybe, maybe Jim Harbaugh

People need to forget about him. As a front office guy sure, but no way as a head coach. He's 4 years older than the NFL's current oldest coach. Too old, out of the game too long. Far too demanding of a job for a guy his age.

I was a McDaniels supporter but no longer. This has become unbearable.

The biggest thing about this team is the number of silly penalties they commit. We must be in the top 5 in the league as far as penalties committed.

Cowher would restore toughness and discipline to this ball club.

How about you make a list of AVAILABLE coaches. 1,2, and 3 are going nowhere, 4 and 5 are only speculation that they will get released, and 6 is about to become a Hurricane.

By the Broncos?

http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Report-Gruden-to-leave-ESPN-and-coach-at-Miami.html

If Jon Gruden indeed leaves ESPNís Monday Night Football booth, it may not be for an NFL head coaching job after all.

According to Lake Lewis of Sports Journey Broadcast Network, the former Oakland Raiders and Tampa Bay Bucs head coach will take over for the dismissed Randy Shannon at Miami.

Jon GrudenICONWill Jon Gruden be roaming the college sidelines next season?

The reported deal would be worth roughly $3 million per season.

Lewis posted the following on his Twitter page:

My scoop on Gruden to UM is from a credible source I respect who is a former ESPN radio guy and also another scoop is a UM great. No lies here...

Whether or not the report is true, thereís no question that Miamiís administration is looking to make a splash with this hire, and Gruden would give the Hurricanes a fiery, offensive leader ó essentially the opposite of the ousted Shannon.

It obviously seems to be too soon for Miami to have a replacement for Shannon set in stone, and the 'Canes are expected to perform a thorough national search. However, at the very least, could Gruden be the top contender for the opening?

Manny Navarro is also reporting that this is what he is hearing.

NOT OFFICIAL YET, though, but it seems close. This would be a great get for my Canes. Probably would have been good for the Broncos, too, IF Bowlen was thinking of making a decision (and its a big If).

Unfortunately, I don't live anywhere near the Miami area, I'm in Southern California. The last regular season game we played around here was in 1995, although I did try to get tickets for the 2002 Rose Bowl (definitely should have gone).

I would like to see new blood, perhaps a guy like Leslie Frazier. I also want someone creative that can try to make use of what we have. All this changing systems has been a real talent drain (and that started with Shanahan's revolving door at DC).

Not something I considered, but I wouldn't complain if it happened. I like the guy.

I've said since we hired the guy as DC that I wished he was the head coach. Thought he was the best move McD made in 2009, and the worst move he made in 2010. Historically the first time around as head coach doesn't work out, but the guys on their second go-round tend to be the superbowl winners. Bonus that the guy is a defensive guru and runs a 3-4.
