Team has already issued Press Releases. Team and McD fined. Josh didn't view tape but didn't report until after getting back from London. Video guy fired. Broncos self reported the incident.

Take it for what its worth hard to trust McD with his ties to the Pats but given the fine the league must believe those are the facts.

The fine is much lower than Spygate and the team self reported the incident.

The language from Ellis is going to be really interesting. He had a opportunity earlier to publicly back McDaniels and did not do so.

This is a massive victory if this is the end of the story.

I mean, ****ty story... bummer for PR, but thank god we didn't lose picks, etc.

Thank god the team reported this.

.

If this is your definition of victory, then you have a lot in common with the German Generaly at the battle of Stalingrad, The Japanese Navy after 1942, and Baghdad Bob.

This is like being happy that we put our arm in a woodchipper, but only lost a few fingers and a wedding ring. It's yet another slime on our face.

McDaniels didn't report himself, thus the fine. Bowlen reported his team and that why we are getting off easy, if nothing else surfaces.

Reading is fundamental. Nowhere did they say he didn't report himself. He got fined for not reporting himself soon enough. A cover up would have been him never reporting himself. Again reading is fundamental.

Actually, according to PFT, he didn't report it to the NFL. He reported it to the FO, who then reported it to the NFL.

That's the problem, because it leaves the possibility that someone in the front office who was associated with this behavior could have covered themselves, plus it could give time for McDaniels to come up with a defense or a cover-up.

Not that I think it happened, but let's be clear about the reported events.

Nah you don't self report when you cover up.

You do if you think that you're already being investigated by the NFL or San Fran.

Univ. Of Arizona pretty much did it to save the basketball program at the end of Lute Olsen's tenure. He had the begining stages of dementia though. Maybe they could argue Mcd has the same problem.

Well he reported it to his superiors who then reported it to the league. A cover up would have been him NEVER reporting it. The fact that he didn't do it promptly got it fined.

But lets not say he didn't report it because that isn't facts as well.

Look I don't like it and I don't like how it looks. I am not defending Josh I am just saying don't try to spin it and say he tried to cover it up.

Ah the old fess up before you are outed. Well the investigation didn't begin until Josh told the F.O. and they told the league. Which Goodell even states in his letter. So that kills that argument.

"After conducting an internal review, team executives contacted the NFL office on November 12 and requested a meeting to report the apparent violation. On the morning of November 16, Broncos executives, including owner Pat Bowlen, met with NFL staff in New York to disclose Mr. Scarnecchia’s actions."

"Based on the report, NFL Security promptly began an investigation, which included interviews of Broncos personnel in Denver on November 18 and 19. In addition, they arranged for a forensic analysis of the laptop computers used by the video department, which confirmed that the Saturday practice had been recorded. NFL Security has retained the tape."

You are not listening. Or Not reading. Or not understanding.

The problem is he didn't report it to the correct authority. And he even delayed reporting it to the FO until after they returned. That two strikes right there. Luckily, he doesn't appear to have made a third swing.

That's true, but his inept actions made it so that the Broncos were left with slime on their face.

Relax. I'm just breaking balls. But it's hard to believe some low level guy would risk losing his job over this. Or that he didn't learn on day one the rules on filming other teams if he his whole life and job revolves around filming football. I just don't believe that could possibly be true.

I have no idea what happens, nor does anyone. What I'm sure of is... people are going to use this story for whatever purposes they need.

The bottom line is, thankfully... it's over and we move on. It's about 1% as bad as it could have been.

A few wins and this is a non-story.

Sorry that wasn't meant to be so defensive. I just am trying to look at it as objectively as possible. Its hard to do that as McD has a track record of suck but it seems to me that the team handled this about as well as possible.

My bad for being so serious! :)

You are right this is a hard point to get past. He should have told the F.O. or the league that day. That time lapse leaves room for speculation and concern. I agree on that point. But the league doesn't seem to think it was egregious enough to levy nothing more than a slap on the wrist.

This story makes no sense. Why in the world are we filming the 49ers of all teams? Hard to believe that this started with a non-divisional team that was 1-6 when the infraction occurred. Makes it even harder to believe given Josh's history with the Patriots.

I mean, whatever. This is about last on my reasons why I think Josh is a waste of our time. But if this is the straw that makes Bowlen bring in a real coach, then so much the better.

It's because the facility in London had us both doing a walkthrough on the same field. I'm pretty sure that the visiting team doesn't have access like that normally, so you have one team doing a walkthrough at home and the other doing it elsewhere.

We both had walkthroughs on the same field. This dummy video taped 6 minutes of their walkthrough. Josh found out at some point (I don't think it says when), he should have reported it right then to Bowlen/Ellis, but didn't until we got back from London <-- that's where his fine comes in. Broncos conduct and internal review along with the league, they get hit with another fine, because the club always gets hit with fines.

The coach and the club get hit because that's where the buck stops.

I loved this quote.

" I thought I did the right thing by not telling anyone. "

But then weeks later he tells someone? He was going to get busted, he new it and this was the best way out of it.

I sorry but I have lost all respect of this man. He is killing this organization with bad picks, bad trades and now this.

Bowlen needs to get him out of Denver. The last thing I want to see is our Broncos being looked at the same as the Lying cheating bastards in New England.

Ok Josh you are dumb if you thought the right thing was not telling anyone! Jesus!

Why?

He probably found the night before or day of the game. He reported it when the team got home from London. He likely thought that it was one hell of a can of worms to open just before a game his team needed to win, and didn't see the harm in giving it the weekend.

The NFL obviously didn't see it as too horrible because his fine is really not much more than a slap on the wrist.
