I thought I was a huge Star Wars dork and even I haven't heard of half of these characters. Best part of the list, no Jar-Jar Binks. I think Palpatine's gotta be way higher considering how much he impacted the entire saga for so long. Starkiller, Bail, Jango, and Shaak Ti should be highter IMO. Gran Admiral Thrawn is listed way too high on that list. He shouldn't break the top 25, let alone the top 10. Kit Fisto is way too low on that list. Dooku should be higher. His character is so tragic.

The Episode III book written by Matthew Stover is a great read that I'd recommend to anyone who has an interest in Star Wars. It's truly a fantastic novel.

Just going to throw it out that most of us peeps in the industry refer to IGN as IGNorant. Don't take this list remotely serious.

I loved Knight of the Old Republic BIG time, but there's no way you put Revan in front of Palpatine/Sideous...even Thrawn for that matter, as well written as those books were.

Lando is above better characters as well.

w/e. They took down 100 characters, did some quick write-ups and threw the list together pretty quick. This **** is made for no other reason than to gets hits. Just like most "lists" that come out of sites such as these.

C-3PO is WAY to low. Same with R2-D2. They should only be after Vader.

These three are the most iconic of all Star Wars characters. Most people who have never even seen Star Wars would recognize these three characters. To have characters who are not even in the movies besides not even being in all six is a complete joke.

One could argue that nothing succeeds in the movies/books without R2-D2. The character is probably the most important character of them all as he saves everyone at some point or another and without him major characters die.

Okay, I have no idea if that's a current image of her or not or if it's altered. All I can say is who cares? The woman is 54 years old and doesn't do acting much anymore. Her primary thing now is writing. And she is very funny. I saw her on Craig Ferguson and she was funny. And Harrison Ford might in fighting shape, but his face looks so craggy, the grand canyon is jealous.

Anyway, I will leave you with a few fun facts about and quotes from Ms. Fisher

"Acting engenders and harbours qualities that are best left way behind in adolesence. People-pleasing, going on those interviews and jamming your whole personality into getting the job, ingratiating yourself to people you wouldn't f***ing spit on if they were on fire."

Turned down the role of Emmeline in The Blue Lagoon (1980). Brooke Shields won the part.

Turned down the role of Sarah Connor for The Terminator (1984). Linda Hamilton got the part.

Turned down the role of Kathryn Murphy in The Accused (1988). Kelly McGillis was eventually cast as Kathryn.

Was author William Goldman's ideal choice for the character Buttercup in The Princess Bride (1987), a role that went to Robin Wright instead

Was once engaged to Dan Aykroyd.

Lol, looking at the names on the list - it's obvious they specifically left him off since he's the most despised character in the franchise.

The Episode III book written by Matthew Stover is a great read that I'd recommend to anyone who has an interest in Star Wars. It's truly a fantastic novel.

How much does the novel differ from the film Taco?

Haha, Kyle Katarn? That's funny he was even included. Must be a bunch of random characters from games etc.

The Expanded Universe is games, novels, comics, and cartoons.

It is called reading the ****ing books. There was more to Star Wars than the God damn movies. Duh.

Not to mention some of the games. The Force Unleashed tells an incredible story, IMO. For those not into games, I wish there was a way they could simply watch all the cut scenes together as a movie. Maybe YouTube?

Also the cartoons have introduced some intriguing characters, like the incredible awesome Ahsoka Tano!

One could argue that nothing succeeds in the movies/books without R2-D2. The character is probably the most important character of them all as he saves everyone at some point or another and without him major characters die.

This is true, although I've always cringed a bit at the way Lucas forced the droids back into the prequels. Anakin built C-3P0, who eventually lived and served with his step-brother Owen before going back with Anakin and the Republic and eventually having his memory wiped. Then, 20 years later he winds up back on the same planet and randomly sold to Owen who has no recollection of him and winds up serving Anakin's son and Obi-Wan Kenobi who he worked with closely in the Republic days. All randomly of course.

Meanwhile R2 is the lone surviving droid on a ship containing Kenobi trying to survive a blockade, he goes on to work exclusivly with Anakin and Kenobi. Then years later he's sold with C-3P0 to Owen and winds up in the care of Anakin's son, randomly. When encountering Kenobi with a message, Obi-Wan doesn't recognize or remember the same droid he worked with at length and saved his life at times. This, of course, all randomly. I get that he wanted to put the droids in the prequels, but come' on Lucas... LOL

Let me reply with my equal geekness:

Montrose,

You have to consider that in '78 Lucas was hot on the heels of American Graffiti so he still had the ability to work with actors and story. By the time the prequel came out, he was so over actors and storytelling and preoccupied with the 'digital revolution' that things like story, acting , and continuity went out the window. Doesn't surprise me that inanimate objects like droids and Jar Jar became the centerpiece.

If they ever did a 7-9, would like to see it be the Thrawn Trilogy. For all the reboots they're doing with other franchises, they could do it here since it's only 5 years after RotJ.

Sorry, when half of the books outright contradict the movies and create a patchwork of half-@ssed continuity, I'll stick with the parts of the franchise I actually enjoyed. For me, its the original trilogy and that is it. I consider everything else fan-wank.

I am one of the few people who probably dont think any of the Star Wars films are that great. First three are ok...the newer three not so much. IMO, the acting in the original trilogy was just as bad as it is in the new trilogy. The difference is the people in the late 1970's and early 80's never saw anything like Star Wars before. By 1998 or whenever the new ones started we had SEEN it already. We have seen more visually stunning movies with better stories at that point.

Not tremendously much, but what it does is fill in gaps of understanding about character motivations, the force, and certain events. I highly reccommend the read. It's an excellent book that I'd put up there with The Count of Monte Cristo in terms of how much I enjoyed reading it.
