Holy ****. What happened to him? I knew about the peanut butter thing, and the comeback from it. What ailed him in recent months? I was completely unaware.

He was without oxygen for several minutes due to bad medication he received at the hospital he was at due to the reaction to the penut butter poisoning.

He suffered brain damage as a result. He fought a valent fight but was clearly regressing. I talked with him mid September and he was not very coherent. He knew he was in trouble.

This place was very important to Mock. It was his only social contact. I wish I had called him more often. Very sad news for me.

He loved his mom very much and told me he felt very bad she had to take care of him.

He really was a special guy.

Wow. I was thinking about posting on the Mane last night and thought that there may be some bad news regarding Mock so I decided against it. Logged on this morning and nothing at that time so thought we were in the clear. I feared this news would be coming, not like Mock to drop everything on the OM and not respond to phone calls or messages. Bad news but thank you for letting us know that our good friend had passed away. Mock had story after story to tell, he lived a full life in his short 51 years. RIP, I have faith that he is still watching the Broncos, Vikings, Beezer, and his nieces from afar.

Brian was a good friend here and we spoke privately hundreds of times behind the scenes. He was a great support when I fought cancer and when I lost my mom to cancer. His friendship will not be forgotten to all of us, despite what some saw in his online persona.

Take care up there in the South Stands in the sky Watermock, where all the cheerleaders are topless and the Broncos never lose at home.

Posts like this made me love Mock:

We have had drought, floods and hail...Matthew is ready to throw it in and become a jet mechanic. We are going to double crop drilling wheat this winter. If Dave loses Matt I don't know how he's going to manage. Poor kid has been worked like some orphan on Little House. I'm terrified that I will be called on...I don't think they even have heard of Internet sports forums in SE Arkansas. I think they still have party lines. Sometimes I think that Dave would be better off just to be swept away by a tornado, hurricane or missisippi flood to put an end to his Lotesque struggles. I have the feeling I'm going to be dragged kicking and screaming into that hell.

Appreciate your 1.00 loaves of bread.

We've shared several years of interaction with him. I used to post pictures of my family here and Mock watched my family grow from newborns to where they are today. He was always very complimentary and its hard not to picture him as a friend..even if I never met him in person. There are a lot of people on the Mane that I would consider friends even though I have never had the opportunity to sit with them and have a beer or shake their hand. Its unfortunate that we only see words and get lost in the fact that there is a person behind those words.

I'd like to offer this Bob Dylan song to Mock's memory:

May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
And may your song always be sung
May you stay forever young
May you stay forever young.

Anaphylactic reaction to some type of antibiotic for a food borne illness from pent butter. Then a brain injury from lack of oxygen while trying to establish an airway. Apparently he required an emergency tracheotomy from the airway swelling. Suffice to say it's a miracle that he ever survived. He had no reserve for anything else.

My favorite Mock moment was when he sent me a PM telling me I could not use the word "dimwit". That it was his, Taco had "taken everything else" from him.

I obliged, for some reason. Mock annoyed me after a while but when I first got here I cut my teeth on Orangemane arguments with Mock concerning Deltha O'Neal.

We talked once or twice on the phone and for a short while we exchanged emails, sometimes heated, but most of the times cordial and very rarely about football but more about life, family and friends.

Late night Mock (pre condition) was the best. I have missed those times since his hospitalization. Before that was the Mock and Slap show. That was classic stuff, better than any comedy show. It was reality TV on the Internet before reality TV.

On that funeral website that has the guestbook, there is a "send flowers" option. However, since Mock passed well over a month ago, I'm not sure that sending flowers to the funeral home would necessarily get to Mock's family since they probably already had the service for him.

I wish we could somehow reach Mock's Mom so that we could send her something...directly to her, just so she knows how many people here cared about Mock. I know Buff talked to Mock's brother before, I wonder if he or broncogary (or someone else that knows info re: Mock's family and residence) could call Ruth Pelzer and get some contact info so we could send her something as a group gift. I think that would be really cool. If we all just pitched in a little bit (even like a dollar or two), just due to the massive number of regulars here, we could probably get a really nice and elaborate set of flowers for her or something.

We could buy her a vowel.....

j/k That's a good idea SoCal. We could make a thread of our favorite Mock encounters or sayings (the good ones of course) and print it up and send it to her.

I still have Mock's mom's number from when we hunted him down at the PB incident. I'm not personally interested in making the call but I do have the info (or what was current at that time, assume it still is) if someone else wants to head that up. Buff volunteered before so if he comes back around, that'd be best. I have his number as well if necessary.

I'm sure he's off threating someone somewhere. Don't worry.

Mock's 60,000th post:

Never underestimate the will of a tweaker.

I had one girl tweaking so bad she tore up a mirror and was eating lint.

I shiat you not.

She destroyed a 400 dollar beveled glass antique oak mirror for dirt.

I signed off on that routine two decades ago. Of course, I cross addicted but am working on it. Dammit.

Still funny to remember her nakid as a bunny combing the carpet looking for a rock...

As a lurker I knew of him and read his posts many times and was always entertained. When I saw this I was shocked and greatly saddened, my eyes are still a little hazy. As others have said it's odd to feel so much for a person you have never met or even interacted with much. He was a great character and was also a person you could get to learn of both through his preposterous antics and great stories.

Though I haven't met you in person, I will always remember you. I hope to meet you in whatever lies beyond.

It was actually malpractice at the hospital. He was given the wrong medication for the allergic reaction and went into anaphylactic shock and suffered brain damage due to lack of oxygen to his brain he also had a stroke over the lack of oxygen.

Mock had a clear malpractice case but he said due to his prolonged comma the time frame to file suit had run out. Surprisingly (to me) he did not hold a grudge over what happened to him in the hospital. He was resigned to his fate.

It's been said but bares repeating, Mock was the most misunderstood person on the OM.

He's been sick the last few years on top of that.

Sometimes it seems life is so unfair. A good guy can have something off the wall happen to him, like this, and somewhere else some punk thug lives a good life off of robbing and cheating others.

I understand that's just life but sometimes you want to kick life right in the nuts when you hear news like this.

I must say that it is pretty telling how much of an impact Mock had on the posters here on the Mane. We are at 10 pages without a single fight or flame war. That is pretty much unheard of for the Mane.

Mock would be pissed to know this though! :)

I don't know if this site would have ever gotten off the ground if it weren't for Mock. He came in and established himself with his quirky, controversial, and often all too insightful view. And he kept posting. And responding. And posting more. And people responded to him. And sometimes they loved him. Sometimes thay hated him. But all the time, he was authentic and true to his beliefs. Mock didn't equivocate and he never minced words.

There is no doubt that Brian gave me a headache or two. He said some thing that even he wished he could have taken back. His temper sometimes got the best of him. Mock could fairly be described as a hot-headed know-it-all. But he was our hot headed know-it-all, and I'm proud to have had him as a friend.

Mock didn't have it too easy in his later years. A terrible bout with food poisoning left him drastically weakened and nearly took his life. But he was a fighter, and he fought through it to the bitter end. I had called him when this episode happened. It was an awkward call as he had a tube down his throat and I couldn't understand what he was saying. But he later told me that the support he received from this community during that difficult time meant the world to him. I'm very proud of that. I just wish there was a way we might have found out about this sooner and given another opportunity to reach out and show him some love in his final days. I'm comforted by the idea that somewhere out there, he knows on some cosmic level how much he was appreciated. He is a character that I'll never forget. May he rest in peace.

Much love, Brian. Thanks for the memories.

For some reason I clicked your profile. Wierd seeing that message on there from Mock about the cars you guys are into. We are here, we are there, we do this, we do that, time flys by, and then we die. Then people go through our things and see all the little things that make up our lives. All those posts he left behind go from Mocks rants to a history that tells a little bit about him. It might tell that he was a tad eccentric, crazy, how ever you might see it, but obviously we all are going to miss him.
