I'm 100% for Signing Orton long term. He's showed me enough to tell me he will be a good QB in this system for a long time.

Ridiculous!
But I will say this. There is a very good chance Orton owns just about every single season franchise passing record after this season.

He just turned 28 on Sunday. He's only in his sixth season. I don't understand why everybody is so quick to call Tebow the QB of the future when Orton has his whole career in front of him and is playing at a top 5 level right now.

Lloyd and Gaffney would certainly disagree.

Don't get me wrong, I love Orton, I'd totally be down with Orton spending his career here. I just think it's important to let players be themselves, not the legends that came before.

There will NEVER be another #7, folks. Deal with it.

There WILL be more Superbowl banners hanging in Denver at some point, though. Hopefully Kyle is a part of it.

What this really does is raise questions about drafting Tebow and giving 3 high picks for him.

I agree!!! I liked all the QBs that came before Orton in the post-Elway era.

Griese was a quality QB before his shoulder injury and was never below average at any point in his career here.

Plummer was a top 7-10 NFL QB from 2003-05.

Cutler performed as a top 10 QB from 2006-08. He regressed in Chicago not here.

Orton is performing better than all three, but on Sunday I only saw one person sport his jersey. Go figure!

Any real comparison is obviously being made in jest, but I don't think it's a stretch to say that Orton has the potential to do things for this team that no other QB since Elway has been capable of doing. It's exciting. If the OLine can simply continue to gel just a little bit more and (if the team as a whole can) avoid the injury bug for the remainder of the year, I can see some really good things happening here.

Think it's a pretty fair argument that the Tebow trade/pick was necessary to push Kyle to another level...

now...if we can fix that defense, that's what really scares me about this team, I think our offense is fine

depends on how much you value our sudden efficiency in the redzone as well.

I think it's also fair to remember that we acquired most of those picks by moving back into a position where we could get Tebow at better value than #11.

I'm not sure that I agree with this. I think bringing in Quinn was the real catalyst, combined with his second year in the system.

Orton has the fire in his belly. It comes from drinking straight Jack.

To be fair I loved the Tebow pick because he is a winner and shows he has the elusive 'It'

I loved the Orton extension, it gives us the option of trading him.

The way Orton is playing he will bring a nice pick or two if that is the tract we take.

In the mean time we have given ourselves some fine options, I give the FO and A+ for these moves.

Can we ask any more of Josh on this issue. We went from a whiny QB that did not want to be here to the above + Bay Bay and a few others. How can anyone complain about this?

Not for me it doesn't.

He is a weapon. I mean what is his touches to scores ratio? I imagine it'd be close to the best in the league.

I remember us going for it from inside the 1, 4 times and failing. Tebow puts points on the board. :strong:

Before Tebow in the redzone: touchdowns rare and few

After Tewbow in the redzone: touchdowns every ****ing time.

I have this thought, and a wild one at that: maybe we can capitalize on the strengths of both quarterbacks and continue to use them to our advantage. Like maybe use Orton to move the ball efficiently up and down the field. Then bring in Tebow for redzone / short yardage stuff. It's crazy, I know.

I do think you got a good point as to why we didn't do it sooner as you have been calling for some time now.

Tebow is on the Goal line, and if he's guaranteed to score almost every single time on the goal line, then his drafting was well worth it (please refer to pre-Tebow this season and how bad we were on the goal line).

Let Orton get down there, and let Tebow run it in, who the hell can argue with that? With this strategy I don't see Orton slowing down #'s wise? plus he is not egotistical enough to give a ****.

When we drafted him, I said I thought he'd be responsible for 10 touchdowns this season. Looks like we might actually get there if we keep using him in the goal line situations.

Because having two excellent QB prospects is a bad thing? San Diego is still reaping the rewards of having Rivers and Brees on the same team.

If Tebow does nothing but kill it in the red zone for five years, the picks will have been well worth it.

Well if you are interested, John Elway in his 6th season went 8-7 and threw 17 tds to 19 ints. Elway's QB rating in his losses 64.7

Elways was of course flawless and beyond criticism. I'm sure none of those losses were on him
