I was just browsing the receiving stats on ESPN, and saw that Brandon Lloyd has 48 catches on the year, not a huge number. Then I noticed that of those 48 catches, 45 were for first downs. That's incredible. The only receiver with a greater amount is Roddy White with 46, but it took him 70 catches to get that amount. What a season this guy is having. I'm sure this has been discussed on here, but I don't remember seeing it. Congrats to Brandon for having such an incredible season so far. I don't miss Marshall at all to be honest.

That's 6 catches a game, on pace for 90 overall and if most of those are 1st downs? Wow...

He is also on pace for 1,721 yards receiving.

The record is 1,848 yards, set by Jerry Rice in 1995.

beast mode indeed, he had 90 yds and 2 TD's and that was a down game for him thus far. Pretty good to be on pace for Jerry Rice numbers in your contract year.

It's going to be interesting to see how much he gets paid, here or elsewhere.

Its always great to see a guy succeed with his second chance. Congrats, Brandon. Keep putting in work.

That TD catch he made was amazing.

The offseason could be interesting, the guy has clearly earned himself a very big contract and there will be plenty of teams out there willing to give him one if the Broncos don't. I know we have him signed up for one more year, but he'll be 30 by the time next year starts. After the year he's had, he actually should hold out to be honest.

The thing with Lloyd is, he's always had amazing ability but the issue was always his mentality. It certainly looks like he's finally put it all together this year, he may be one of the most agile players I've ever seen and he really has started to use it to his advantage this year. Some of the routes he runs are just baffling.

Always had the ability to make circus catches, but you add a much more rounded game to that and the result has been the monster we've seen this year.

I think he deserves a big extension and a raise. He's never caused any problems in his time here and has played lights out this year when given the chance, I'm not sure what else he could do.

Sign him up through 2014 and pay him like a #1 receiver and go forward with he and Thomas as our outside receivers. We don't have a lot of money tied up in the receiver position at present so I see no reason not to make this happen and make it a real strong point of the team for years to come.

Brandon Lloyd will hold out. This is not even a question.

You think any human being would play football for 795k after the year he is having and turning 30?

We should just discuss what we think he'll get now.

The dude is just blowing up. Josh said this guy has the best body control he's ever seen and week after week we get to see him put those skills on display. The TD catch was simply amazing but how about that catch over the middle, catching the ball right over that defenders head. Unreal.

There is NO doubt the Broncos have the best overall WR group in the league, and I don't think it's even close.

Lloyd will get his contract redone I'm sure of it. Doing it now though doesn't make sense with the offseason problems looming. If that's taken care of and they play next season, you can be he will be taking the field with a healthier contract.

I would be surprised if the team let it come to that. McD and Co. will reward him with an extension as soon as it looks like the 2011 season is a go. I don't think he'll get top WR money more like they'll settle somewhere in the middle. Probably a 4 year $24m type deal with some nice bonus money.

I do miss Marshall. His smile and play was always infectious. That being said, it's very satisfying watching a WR catch almost everything in sight and a lot of the catches are of the "Seriously, he caught that" variety. Really, the catch he had in the opening drive vs the Chefs set the tone and a catch that 99% of the receivers don't make. Brandon Marshall can make that catch, but he'll drop 2 or 3 easy ones per game too. Lloyd's drops are very rare... his hands are amazing!

I don't think Brandon will hold out of camp or be traded, because I don't think it will come to that. McD likes the guy a lot, and he's been our most reliable option this season. Plus, we can still get him for a bargain.

I'd be cautious about giving Lloyd a huge contract, but after this season, he does deserve a decent contract. Like someone alluded to, somewhere around 4 years, $25 million.

You do know that how much we sign one guy for impacts how much we can sign another guy for, right? And that it's conceivable that we miss out on a free agent we want because we can't afford to pay as much as another team? You're aware that this is how it works, correct?

Plus Josh picked him off the trash heap that's gotta be worth something.

This has always been an interesting oddity to me.

Like we have to chip in for it.

The Broncos of late have done a very good of this.

Surely it's not that hard to get your head around?

Most teams are only going to have a few monster contracts on their books at a time, they're not just going to throw massive deals at anyone who might be worth it and hope for the best (the exception to this is the Raiders and Redskins, of course.)

Signing Lloyd to a massive deal means that's one player in a similar situation that we might have to let walk down the line. You want to make sure you sign the right guy, which is why fans take an interest.

That said, I hope we sign Lloyd up. I think that he, Royal and Thomas could be an absolutely monstrous trio of starting receivers over the next few seasons.

This is exactly why I love the McD plan of having a team of smart hard working versatile interchangeable football players. We won't have a team made up of a few super stars and the balance being journeymen players. Much like NE does it. We will trade some damn good players because of money in the coming years that will piss a lot of fans off around here.
