It happened right in front of the KC bench and none of the KC players were upset about it. It's football 101 that you are either gonna hit someone or be hit and Moeaki was completely unprepared for Mays hit.

Imagine that, something rough happening on a football field.

I didn't mean the hit was rough. Just meant it was rough watching someone unable to stand.

It was also rough watching the Lions player 10 years ago walking back on the field after he broke his neck and had one of those mounts put on his shoulder to hold his head up. Not that the two are similar in severity but just saying the video seemed to focus more on the after-hit effects than on the hit itself. I like to see folks get rocked on the field but get back up and go about their lives when it's all said and done.

The video does not show him after the play. He walks back towards Broncos bench, takes off his helmet and turns back toward Chiefs bench. He seems like he is looking for someone behind the players on the sideline and is obviously saying something. You see one of the Chief players, in sweats, step forward and motion him to go back. You have to love this guy, he is a beast

If the Chiefs wanted to try to make this crazy comeback a success, then Mays thought he better make sure he is going to put 150% effort to stop it......one Chief at a time. Didnt see it originally but that was pure awesome. After the hit, he just walks away like another day at the office.

He was laying the wood all over the place. And Cassel kept throwing these 3 yard check downs to guys and Mays would just light them up. I'm sure the receiver got up thinking, holy sh*t, was that worth 3 fricking yards.

Are grown men normally incapable of walking around like that?

Hamilton played on the freakin' OL and got a concussion that had him throwing up everytime he tried to exert himself. Surely I'm not the only one that remembers the threads about all the struggles he went through trying to recover from a concussion.

Someone that can't stand up surely got a concussion, right?

No, getting up slowly after being hit hard does not mean you just got concussion. It's possible, but no necessarily so.

So the answer is ""No", he did not get injured. And the answer to your earlier post about "Stay Down Bitch" is...no, this isn't the same at all. Gochiefs was literally celebrating an injury when he did that. No one here is. They are celebrating a big hit.

TE Tony Moeaki suffered a head injury at the end of the Denver game and his status for this week remains unknown. The Chiefs would not confirm that the blow to the head Moeaki received from Broncos LB Joe Mays was a concussion. After he was helped off the field, Moeaki did not return.

I'm sorry but people get seriously fked up playing football.

I don't understand what point you're trying to make That One Guy.

Except for maybe a few sick individuals, no one wants to see the competition suffer broken bones, brain damage, paralysis or death. The sad fact of the matter is that all those horrible things are one hit away from happening, "any given Sunday".

Winning football games at its core is about hitting the other team as hard as you can and moving them in the opposite direction of where they want to go. People are going to cheer for big hits as that's what this game is all about.

If you're point is, "How can you cheer for a big hit?", "What about that guy's health?", then you're watching the wrong game.

No, I'm all for big hits. It's just that the big hit happens in like 1/8th of a second and then it runs on forever with Meoki stumbling around falling down.

Big hits are awesome. I'm not knocking Mays for it at all. I think I just got the impression people were happy about the knocking the guy out factor rather than the fact that it was just a big hit. I may be merging threads on the one where people seemed happy that he appeared to be knocked out. I just know there were some giggling to themselves because he got knocked out and I didn't agree with that.

Big hits though? Bring em on! I'm actually hoping to see more of Mays as I didn't get to see the game and while I've heard he was laying the wood, haven't really seen any highlights. I envision something along the lines of Larsen's special teams tackles his first year.

Yes. Example -- Baltimore. I want a team that just physically beats the shiat out of the competition. Mays is a good start.

I can't really argue with your example. I admire B'more's defense and they have been doing it for 10 years it seems.

People might not care for Ray Lewis but he's been one hell of a football player for a long time. Hell of a guy to have on your team. Makes everyone play better.

Well the guy staggering around was like a hit barometer, let you know is was a pretty good pop.

The guy staggering around was no different that a knock out punch in boxing and that is the goal in that sport. Why you making such a big deal about someone getting knocked woozy on a good football block.

I'm not trying to make a big deal. Just disagreeing. When you call Tsiguy's girl a whale and he takes off, that's a big deal.

I was just saying I felt bad for the guy not being able to stand up. In this particular thread, I don't think anyone was celebrating the fact that his brain got rattled but I do recall seeing it somewhere.

And, in reality, I don't care for boxing because there seems to be no sport to it. You either get a draw or you get someone's brain scrambled and a jump start on senility or brain disorders. Just my opinions, of course.

This is also a good start for Mays. He's 25, won't be 26 until next July, and this is his first season in a 3-4. Up to this point he's always been a 4-3 MLB.

He's still not too impressive in coverage but I think we might have found that 1st and 2nd down thumper everyone has been saying we need so bad earlier this season.

Mays and Woodyard are a pretty damn good ILB tandem for the long term.

The absolute best part is where Joe acts like he's been there before. No taunting, not jumping around. Hit like an effing freight train and walk back like you own the place.

Yep he did the same when he rocked Bowe's world too. Love this guy.

He/she goes natural. Some of those make up kits are tested on ants and lil animals and there is no way One Girl is putting on something that had lil feet crawling on it. That goes for those old clothes. NO SKIRTS! One Girl doesnt shave because the sight of a razor that has pointy ends brings back haunting memories of her Mom cutting her meat for her. Dont even ask about Meat eating. Feels guilty about eating veggies as a vegan because there was a report that lettuce has feelings!

SILB should be fine next year between Mays and Haggan.

It'd be dumb to spend anything other than a late round pick on a SILB. It's a 2 down position in our defense and between Haggan and Mays we'll have someone who can get the job done.

The trenches and secondary need addressing for sure, but I'm very happy with our situation at LB for next year. Something like

WOLB - Dumervil
WILB - DJ
SILB - Mays
SOLB - Ayers

would be nice, Haggan would be a great backup as he can contribute both as an OLB and an ILB.

Woodyard still subs in to play alongside DJ in the nickel package.

Nice group, just need some upgrades at Safety and on the line.

My thoughts exactly. Mays is only just getting his feet wet in a 3-4 two down role and he's starting to come alive. Give him a full training camp next year alongside DJ, Doom, and Ayers and he'll be exactly what we want at SILB.

Like you said, a major benefit of that move is having Haggan become our 5th linebacker. He's capable of stepping in at ILB or OLB and getting it done. Hell of a backup to be rotating in there. And long term Woodyard should develop into a great replacement for DJ, flying around finishing plays.

We're looking real good at linebacker right now. I'd be all for drafting another developmental OLB type but not before the 4th round. The first three rounds need to be focused on rebuilding the DL, getting a long term swing tackle/replacement for Harris, and adding yet more depth to our secondary, namely at safety.

We have;

1 first round pick

2 second round picks

1 third round pick

1 fifth round pick

2 sixth round picks

1 seventh round pick

Is that right?

Solid play, Mays did his job at 110%.

I don't think Moeaki thinks it was a cheap play, because he is a football player and understands how the game is played. Fair play, excellent block, and actually good sportsmanship (as pointed out before). Lots of people here making a big issue about a non-issue.

My kids play football, and when they get creamed by a legal block (usually a crackback block), I remind them that it was their fault they weren't looking for it. It's a rough sport, and contact is the basis for playing it.

Joe Mays was inspiring last weekend. I would be proud to buy a ticket just to watch play like that every week.

I didn't think it was a dirty play. I don't blame anyone for celebrating and enjoy a major hit. I just didn't like seeing that the guy couldn't just get up, shake it off, and get back to the game. That's all.

And as for the other folks trying to take shots, one can only state that it's an opinion so many times. If you somehow get enjoyment out of seeing someone stumble around, clearly having had their brain rattled then... to each their own.

Talking about the Tsiguy freak out on TheRev. I don't even remember the thread now but it just came up last week in the greatest threads of all time thread. THAT was a freak out. Me saying I didn't like seeing someone stumble is hardly a freak out or making a big deal out of anything.

No problem with that, anyone who enjoys watching seeing another player with a serious injury is a sadist. I hope Moeaki is 100% by next week.
