Report: Fins want to work out JaMarcus Russell

Posted by Mike Florio on November 14, 2010, 6:18 PM EST
As the reader who pointed this one out to us aptly put it, former Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell may be taking his talents (and his appetite) to South Beach.

Josina Anderson of FOX 31 and Showtime’s Inside the NFL reports that the first overall pick in the 2007 draft has been contacted by the Dolphins in the wake of Miami’s multiple quarterback injuries from Sunday’s win over the Titans.

With the Dolphins having a short week before their Thursday night game against the Bears, the Dolphins need to have enough healthy bodies to fill out the depth chart.

The Fins lost new starter Chad Pennington after only two plays, with his latest shoulder injury. Chad Henne was injured late in the third quarter. The only other quarterback is Tyler Thigpen.

Report: Pennington and Henne likely out for the season

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on November 14, 2010, 7:05 PM EST
The Dolphins won’t have to choose between Chad Pennington and Chad Henne for the rest of the season; they both aren’t expected to play again.

Mike Berardino and Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel report that Pennington and Henne are expected to miss the rest of the season. Jay Glazer of FOX reports that Pennington has a dislocated shoulder, the fourth serious shoulder injury of his career.

Henne left the stadium on crutches and was headed to undergo an MRI. His kneecap bent forward in ugly fashion on the play that took him out. While one source of the Sentinel’s expects Henne to miss the rest of the season, the other source wasn’t as sure.

Tyler Thigpen will take over as the starter for the 5-4 Dolphins; Miami has started to search for a possible backup for Thursday’s game.

Wasn't Thigpen the one they actually thought could be their QBOTF? Could be a McCoy type situation and he shines now that he's actually taking over.

Mel Kiper on Jamarcus Russell
"JaMarcus Russell's gonna immediately energize that Raider Nation, that fanbase, that football team -- on the practice field, in that locker room -- three years from now you could be looking at a guy that's certainly one of the elite top-five quarterbacks in this league"

Damn is the QB FA market that thin to where a team feels they have to work out a dude who's all but eaten his way out of the NFL?

Go get Jeff Garcia out of the UFL, it'll cost you 150K for a contract buyout but you're better off.

Which Chad? Penny hurt his throwing shoulder and will "career ending" surgery. Henne injured his knee and will be out 6-8 weeks. JaFatass is only one of the QB's that will be brought in for a look.

He ws seen as the Chiefs QBOTF. Miami already had Henne when they traded for Thigpen. He did look good today, but my fear is that he is so damn inconsistent.

Pennington injured his throwing shoulder when his mom pushed him out at birth.

I heard he hurt the shoulder on a previous play. The sack (or almost sack) play was when he realized he couldn't go on. Sad for him. He's a class guy. I bet he becomes a QB coach and then an OC.

Yep...but on the other hand ....them sucking is GOOD for us...we still have their 2nd round pick...if they don't win another game I'd be happy, and besides Marshall will be having his obligatory melt down any time now.LOL

He was penalized for firing the ball off the field after making a catch. The announcers said he's upset because he's not more involved.

Gosh, I wonder why we dumped this **** bag?

I'm curious to see how Thigpen does. I always liked his style of play, reminded me of Rich Gannon. I thought Denver should have picked up Gannon at the time, and Thigpen also.

Ramsey was as inaccurate as anyone I've ever seen. He QB'd that horrible Detroit game a few years ago that I shelled out about $1500 to go see. It was absolutely horrible. He and Chris Simms both seemed like they didn't know what they were throwing at.

And for whoever asked above, the 2nd is the pick for Marshall. The worse Miami does, the better our pick.
