10-0 with 13:50 left in the third, Flacco just threw his second pick of the game. Falcons D is jack slappin' the Ratbirds O line all over the place. Time of possession at the end of the first half was something like 21:30 to 8:30 for the Falcons. Loving it.

Derek Mason has had a very underrated and consistent career.

He is closing in on 900 career receptions and 12,000 receiving yards with 60+ TDs.

Sounds a little like another underrated WR I know.

Roddy White **** the bed on a catch that would have given Atlanta a key first down.

Questionable no call on that Roddy White TD. Looked like a pretty good push off. Oh well, offense always gets the benefit of the doubt.

John Abraham is having a nice year with 8 sacks in 9 games.

I had a decent amount of money on this one so I loved the outcome. Made me sweat some but I hit 2 for 2.

That said, I don't know if I've just ignored it in the past or what but why are teams getting so absurdly conservative? I understand there's some prevent D going on but, for example, why does Balt go on a 6 minute TD drive with 4 run plays when they were down 2 TDs in the 4th Q and had scored 7 points up to that point? As someone else said, if Roddy White catches that third down ball on the Falcons 2nd to last possession, they burn out the clock and Balt isn't even in the game. Surely Balt wasn't so confident in their D after the way they played tonight that the D would have a quick 3 and out and the ball would be punted.

I'm seeing it all over the place these days it seems. Teams take scoring drives like they're in a vacuum and they have as long as they need. Once you get into the 4th Q and you're down by 2 TDs+... you should be getting a lot more pep in your step. Instead, Balt continues to do little check downs and run plays. They did the exact same thing against NE a few weeks back where they needed some points bad and checked down to Ray Rice like a half dozen times in a row (almost literally, if I remember correctly).

Teams just need to start pushing the game a little more, I think. With the rules favoring the O today, there's no excuse for going overly conservative. There were 2 TDs scored with a 1:52 scoring drive and a :45 scoring drive at the very end yet the teams were playing scared all game.

If I recall correctly, when we were pushing for him a few years back it was never a talent question but a health question. If so, good to see he can get a good healthy season in.

John Abraham hasn't missed a game since the 2006 season....but at the time, durability was a concern with him.

John Abraham is approaching 100 sacks for his career (97.5) with 32 forced fumbles.

falcons looked good and Ryan looked solid.
I was surprised they have a good defense. Good push outfront kept Flacco on the move...

I still think the AFC has more solid teams; Titans, Ravens, The Jets, Patriots, Colts, Steelers, and perhaps one or two other teams may find their way to this list in 3 weeks...

On the NFC, the Giants are looking great, Tampa, Falcons, and the Eagles could have strong seasons. Again, I wouldn't be surprised to see one or two other teams show up later on for the party...

Their once vaunted secondary is now their Achilles Heel.

And Ray Lewis is getting old. He's the key. Once he hangs them up their defense will really start to tank.

I really enjoyed watching Hotlanta whip up on BMore. I really don't have much love for that team. Matt Ryan looked good.

I agree the AFC probably has the numbers but I've been very impressed with the NFC top-tier teams lately. I don't know if there's a team in the league that could even hope to hang with a healthy Giants squad right now. They've recently taken some hits so their health could get them but they've been clicking so well on O and their D knocked out 5 QBs in the first 7-8 games. The Eagles with Vick can beat any AFC team, in my opinion, and Ryan last night looked unstoppable but it could've easily been the D failing.

Either way, some great play going on in the NFC where everyone was talking about just the AFC early on. If GB can get back to being consistent (no dumps like that 9-0 win over the Jets), they could be right up there with NYG. We'll see but definitely exciting.
